Dez with Brady or Rodgers or Brees or even Wentz would be interesting to see should he be released and picked up by one of those teams.

I remember how washed Randy Moss was supposed to be in Oakland and then he landed with the GOAT and all of a sudden could play again.

Guess we'll see when he lands elsewhere with a different Coach (he has had major success previously under the possible old Coach); new OC (he has had major success under the potential ex-OC previously); and a new QB.
Since I was mentioned I will put in my two cents. Dez could be used in different ways to make him more productive. The problem is Dez ability to learn those new roles. Dez struggles running the correct routes even now. Remember Dez first year and how he only ran several routes?

Dak been missing throws all year......and each week its a different player to blame.

Dak's missing targets more often than a wild fast ball pitcher.

I don't place everything on Dak, but his play requires some fair assessment. He ain't on diplomatic immunity. He needs to go back in the film room but ask Jerry to get him some coaching.

I feel like it's time to hit y'all with another fact.

So.. Fact:

Dez has three 1,000 yard seasons in 8 years at the NFL level.

Please discuss.

Two out of the FiVE he played with Romo, his first year he wasn’t starting. His second year he missed a game and started 13 and he was seventy yards away from breaking a thousand, meaning one game and maybe one start.

So that leaves 3 games, one with the high ankle sprain at 9 games and two with Dak.

Obviously the problem wasn’t Dez with Romo...

Again myth. He’s very good over the middle on digs and slants. We just don’t run them much in this offense

I can pretty much guarantee you Dak's play will improve next year without Dez in the locker room. I'd even bet money on it (& I am not into betting my hard earned money).

The down-and-distance excuse is a fallacy. Dak had more attempts on third-and-long last season -- and many more attempts on second-and-long last season. We were just far more successful in those situations last season.

Do you have the stats anywhere, especially considering Zeke averaged over 5 YPC in first down. I’d like to see what qualifies as ‘down and distance’.

And even if that’s the case, I’m pretty sure it’s because Cole Beasley underneath routes were netting the necessary ‘down and distance’ on RAC.. Dallas being successful on third last year isn’t necessarily in dispute. It’s still a short passing game.

Cole Beasley is having his worst year and Dak is close to connecting in bottom 50% and this guy is basically used in a short passing game.

The QB throwing him in the ball in 2015 and with Dez out were way more accurate than Dak, 70%. is this year and they roughly at the same targets. And those offenses were a disaster.

You could put on any savvy veteran with some arm strength on this team behind this line and Zeke and get some production out the QB.

Cole Beasley is basically having his worst year ever and people just focusing on Dez, and Cole runs short routes all day and Dak’s accuracy with him is garbage. Even Weeden and Cassell were more accurate with him.

Dak isn't the issue. Does he need to improve, yes he does but he isn't finished with his second season yet and has plenty of room to grow.

This offense isn't built around Dak. The play calling isn't built around Dak. Sure they run read option at times but receivers are running deep routes like if Romo was still QB. I think Dak would benefit from a different offense, go to a quick passing game with the occasional deep routes. Short to immediate with run heavy

I made a post about this in the past.

We also badly need a playmaker at tight end. It’s really laughable when you watch other teams with a legit playmaker at TE and we are stuck with Witten until he retires. He has no speed or leaping ability. I love the guy but accept a role like Antonio Gates or play somewhere else.

I wouldn't be surprised if we IR Butler and Dez this week and call up Brown and Lenoir.

The cancer excuse is hilarious coming from a hard core TO Fan...
I was patiently waiting for someone to go there.

Thank you.

Terrell Owens was still playing at an exceptionally high level during the latter years of his career. Things like getting separation were still commonplace. While he did drop his share of balls, he more than made up for that with his abilities to:

1. YAC it to the house.
2. Run crisp routes.
3. Be where he's supposed to be when he's expected to be there.
4. Learn multiple position and move around so as to alleviate predictability and keep the defense on their toes.

Those are just four qualities that TO still possessed when the Cowboys let him go.

Name any of those four qualities that Dez possesses today?

I will still stick by TO and say that his larger than life persona was too much for an over the hill Parcells that just wasn't willing to deal with all that was TO.

Dez is no TO.... People continue to harp on what Dez was. Yet they remain inable to realize what Dez is today.

That all being said, just like they got rid of TO... GET RID OF DEZ!

TO had Romo throwing to him.. his fans knew this offense wasn’t using him properly..

Same Garrett homers said TO was the reason they were losing and his drops weren’t worth it. People said TO wasn’t worth it any more and he was done.

You didn’t.. in this case, you like Dak...

Like I said, Cole Beasley running short routes is having his worst season.. and it’s not because DBs are doubling him because they aren’t Dez anymore..

Of course, the overall down year for WRs (and Dak) couldn't possibly be attributed to a hobbled Tyron and a couple of scrubs backing him up.

Of course not.

What the heck was I thinking?

So Smith injury is Dez’s Fault.. so is it Dez or the OK or the scrubs backing them up?

Dak has a line currently that Romo didn’t even sniff for ages. Dak holds on to the ball way too long and his pocket presence sucks. His technique gets horrible when he gets happy feet, except when he’s escaping on the outside from the pocket, because the bootleg is a standard throw for him.

Ahhhh.. So now we are getting to the crux of things.

You hate Dak.

I like Dak.

Have I summed it up fairly?

Have you ever seen worse chemistry between a quarterback and a #1 receiver? Dak & Dez bring out the absolute worst in each other. A strange reverse-synergy that's just brutal to watch.

You missed the part where they benched an elite QB that could actually throw to Dez, playing with Zeke and this OL for this guy..

Dak couldn’t even handle the responsibility of pre-snap reads yet with this talent and Romo was bailing out this offense with trash..

So there is that..

I think we've carried this pissing contest about as far as it can go without starting to dealing a headwind.

I don't know about you but the color gold doesn't suit me well.

Dez is no longer the Dez you magically want to restore.
Tony isn't coming back.
Move on.

Nor is Dak the QB nor is Witten a downfield thread.. maybe we can agree to a middle ground and start Cooper Rush, while waiting for the Garrett crew to eventually ruin his moxie too..
