Unsportsmanlike Conduct on Butler

I've seen people say the difference is that Ripkowski was already on the field, while Butler was not. And that was the difference in the penalties.

In either circumstance, my simple response is - so what?

The defense is allowed to substitute when the offense substitutes. So much so that the ref will stand over the football to allow the defense the opportunity to do so. This whole 'deception' argument of it being a penalty is pointless because of that alone.

I wonder if Garrett could have challenged the call? Video evidence would have shown Butler never communicated with anyone in the huddle.

I don't have a date. I've never seen the penalty in my life though and I'm very familiar with the rule book.

I want to cite a source so I can show someone at work. They claim they've seen that penalty before, and it's obvious to the refs. HA ok.
I've looked and haven't found anything I could site.
Just tell that doofus that it's 100% true and you know because you read it on the internet.

Not sure if it's true but Garrett said in his 4pm presser that Butler was already on the field. He ran off, back on and then off.
The whole thing is garbage

Well in fairness, did the guy who ran out of the huddle, did he run into the huddle from the sidelines and then run out? That seems to be the issue here. It's still a horrible call but I am not sure that video is the same as what Butler did.

The guy who ran out had participated in the previous play. I just rewatched it and he was out there.

I didn't read all 8 pages of replies, but I actually read the article unlike some people. Some of you kill me. The player has communicate with a player according to the actual wording of the rule. Butler did not. There is no technicality by which that should have been a penalty.

I don't see an infraction.

This absolute garbage is what ends up costing us the season and costing the league huge ratings and credibility and they wonder why fans like myself don't want their children to grow up watching this crap.
It hard enough to pretend these guys are not going to end up with brain damage and now we have to get emotionally invested in something the league doesn't care enough about to tighten this up.

The thing is, if us Cowboys fan say we lost because of the refs or because of penalties like this.. We're just sore losers and cry babies. It's so annoying man. I feel like a kid in a playground getting bullied and no one does anything.

Wow. Obvious trolling and/or agenda.

Read what you wrote up there and then remind yourself that JG just led a team to 13-3 with 2 rookies occupying the most important positions on our offense.

Someone's an idiot, and it's not the head coach..
There's a reason it says village idiot under his username.

Sorry, bit the rule you're citing is an NCAA rule. The defense is not "allowed" time to substitute in the NFL. If that was an NFL rule, Rogers would not be able to catch those cheap 5-yarders while defenders are leaving the field.

It always amazes me when NFL players (and broadcasters) don't know the rules, even obscure ones. Is it against the CBA to teach players the rules?

I agree this was a bogus penalty but I chalk it up to JG not having the team prepared. You can't have these kind of gaffes 19 weeks into the season.
Wait. Either it's bogus or it's Garrett's fault. Can't be both.

It's an NFL RULE.
