Unsportsmanlike Conduct on Butler

Haven't read the whole thread, so excuse me if someone already pointed this out.

I think the officials are to blame for the call. 15yd penalties apply when a 12th player who was not in the huddle participates - the obvious scenarios where someone comes off the sideline just before or even after the snap and e.g. makes a block or tackle.

Where the team breaks the huddle with an illegal substitution isn't the crew obliged to flag and blow the whistle before the snap? And it's only a 5yd penalty? A team cannot be penalized extra because the wing official monitoring substitutes forgets.

"They made the right call!" the talking head pontificated as they explained why longtime fans are seeing a penalty called now they've never seen flagged in watching 30 years of the NFL.

I agree this was a bogus penalty but I chalk it up to JG not having the team prepared. You can't have these kind of gaffes 19 weeks into the season.

And you can add the 12 men on the field penalty and the timeout taken to prevent another 12 men on the field penalty.

Just not good enough, especially since Garrett spoke about the very same subject earlier in the week.

Head ref could have easily went over to Garrett and let him know about the violation and that if it continues, he will flag us. Instead, he decides to make a name for himself on the very first drive of a playoff game??!!! F*ing idiot. IMO the stuff that happened in this game, in totality, is worse than the screwjob in the '14 game.

I believe they made the proper call. However, I would bet that exact same thing has happened hundreds of times without being called.

So than it's not the proper call. If you can't be consistent than don't call it, otherwise you bring a lot of things into question.
Imagine your neighbour advertising on his/her window selling drugs out there home, they make tons of money, strangers constantly in and out of there home and never a cop. So you decide what the heck, this sounds like a good investment and you decide to do the same, except the next day the cops show up and arrest you ignoring your neighbour. Society would crumble if law treated people completely different and so will the NFL if they don't get there act together. Disgusting.

http://sportsday.***BANNED-URL***/d...ys-15-yard-penalty-vs-green-bay-participating

Just another made-up call like in 2014.

There is NO HUDDLE yet and Butler isn't even communicating to any teammate in the huddle and is looking at the sideline to the coaches, just like Dak is..
True that!!! If I passed that ref on the side of the road with a broken down car in the rain, I will not stop to help!!!

For those who say it was an example of Dallas' just not following the rules, you're trolling. Hasn't been called since 1984, as many have pointed out. Furthermore, it wasn't enforced evenly in the game. If you've DVR'd it, check the 1st quarter with 4:41 left on the clock.. The Packers have a nice, tight huddle, and one of their players sprints out of the huddle, never to be a part of the play. But he didn't have a star on his helmet, so it wasn't called.

Neither team should have been called for that penalty in the game, that rule should be banished, or enforced with common sense. Bizarre procedural rules being enforced that way are a deliberate attempt to prevent the Cowboys from developing an early rhythm. The only evidence needed is referees never calling a more obvious, textbook violation against Green Bay about a minute later..

It is such a shame to see such a season of excellence end with lopsided officiating. The NFL needs to step up their quality of officiating, first with professional, full time officials, and secondly but most importantly, removing the comedian Dean Blandino from the NFL. He is an incompetent, and a comedian by trade. Now the NFL is the joke. But the Cowboys are for real.

How about we focus our blame on our idiot head coach who is consistently outclasses in nearly every game for about the last 7 years?

Wow. Obvious trolling and/or agenda.

Read what you wrote up there and then remind yourself that JG just led a team to 13-3 with 2 rookies occupying the most important positions on our offense.

Someone's an idiot, and it's not the head coach..

It sure seemed FIXED, seems the NFL/Vegas wanted GB and Rodgers.

When is the last time they didn't blow the whistle while throwing the flag on defensive offsides this year? Free plays are rare these days, yet Rodgers hits the TE for a 52 yard TD?
The 15 yard unsportsmanlike was a 50 yard penalty and the penalty is designed to prevent teams from disguising their sub packages, Butler was subbing with T will, so no disguise. Penalty hasn't been called since like 1984
The Pass interference call on A Brown was uncatchable and at most illegal contact 10 yard penalty. They gave them 40 yards and took away a possible game ending interception
The holding call on Doug Free was a drive killing joke
The no hold on Witten was obvious
The no hold on Irving being choked thrown to ground on last play is laughable

To counter & hide it they show are corners being aggressive but don't show theirs

I wish someone could get a gif or quick video of that Packers move.

Well in fairness, did the guy who ran out of the huddle, did he run into the huddle from the sidelines and then run out? That seems to be the issue here. It's still a horrible call but I am not sure that video is the same as what Butler did.
Just showing what a real huddle looks like compared to Butler's running into and out of the non-huddle called as one.

Yep, that's a huddle. The difference is Rodgers is actually in the huddle. When Butler ran on and off the field, Dak was standing off a couple of steps from the huddle looking at the players coming onto the field. He didn't enter the huddle and call the play until after Butler was gone.

FWIW Mike Pereira (who is a nitwit mind you) stated that the rule states if the player gets between the numbers on a substitution he has to remain in the game.

I can't confirm or deny if he pulled that out of his butt.

Don't worry. The NFL is a monopoly. They can make up the rules as they go along and fix it after the fact and write it into the official non-arbitrated, non-independent, rule book: "here's the rule right here!"

I really hate football right now. This one will hurt for a long time. Maybe it would've been better if we just were blown out. Then possibly I would've been spared the 5 absolutky inexcusable terrible calls and my refrigerator would still be dent free.
