I remember when I lived in Germany, people thought it was weird that I would mix tuna and mayonnaise, something that's an American standard. They also found it weird that I like drinks super cold and would put ice cubes in the drink to make it that way. Again, normal in the USA, considered weird over there.

It was similar when I was in Rwanda. I remember my first night there I was at a hotel and went to the restaurant/bar in the hotel. I ordered a beer and they were like “do you want it cold or warm?” I was like warm? No thanks lol

That's like drinking warm beer in England. It's like a whole stein of the bottom of the can!

grits I always thought were versatile enough to make dinner or desert. Like Shrimp and grits or a sweet version with fruit.
Butter, salt and pepper. That's it for grits. Don't like sweet corn bread either. If you are going to do that make a dang cake!

fried snake and gator is no big deal just kinda expensive depending where you are.

The bear was jerky and it was nothing special.

I don't eat snails.

A friend of mine raised ostridge and said it was excellent table fare.

My dad was a pig feet and pig lips fan but then again he also ate turnips.

soft shell turtle was like snake and gator but they are hard to clean
and so hard to find they are probably a protected species now

I liked turnips raw when i was a kid. Then one day my smart arse cousin came over with a potato gun you used hair spray to fire. We stuffed turnips in the gun a fired them. well, we broke the windshield out f a car passing by and well, I don't want to talk about it.:lmao2::thumbdown::):lmao:

*Cannibal sandwich* they weren't unheard of back in the 50's*

I save my dill pickle jar juice & pull a hefty snort from the fridge,,,all the time
Pepperoncini juice too and pickled jalapeno juice. I use them in Bloody Marys, Margaritas and Micheladas and just started using pickled jalapeno juice in making slaw.

I had two uncles, accent on the had, that ate the raw hamburger as steak tartare with a raw egg yolk in the middle.

What's interesting is that our safe food practices back then were non-existent, cutting boards, if used at all, were petri dishes but you didn't hear about food borne illnesses to the degree we do today. And we are overdue for another romaine or spinach recall because we haven't learned putting a pig farm and lettuce farm next to each other is not a good idea.

A loaf of French bread grilled until it's crusty and dipped in A1 is one of my favorite deer camp meals.
