Thanx on the reply.

Yep I know.

I will never hold it against him.

Hey..its like grieving.

Some people laugh..

.some people get mad and lash out..

other get really quiet and keep the stress inside.

It's sort of funny to watch all the different reactions here.

Yessir.
I have no problem with the guy.
He makes me laugh with his quips more often than not.

Cowboys again overpay. Bailey's a damn good kicker, but these team needs to use it's scarce cap resources elsewhere.

You want one of the best you got to pay the piper. If they'd let him go and went cheap and the replacement missed a game winning FG there'd be people on here screaming that this team can never find a legit kicker.

I'll be happy about his because it's one less position of need.

BREAKING: Cowboys Sign Dan Bailey To Extension Through 2020 Season http://******/1aP8AF2

On Thursday, the Cowboys officially signed Bailey through the 2020 season, giving the kicker a six-year contract extension. Bailey was set to become a restricted free agent this year but the Cowboys bypassed all of that, paying him a deal that will pay Bailey a little more than $3 million per season.

OMG!!!! You Gotta love Bailey.....But 3.3 million a year for a kicker?????????? this just stinks of another bad deal/over paying by Jerry. I can see in a couple of years people laughing out loud @ this contract.

This thread is confusing. I keep checking the title to see whether it's about the TE coach, or the extension for the kicker.

Re: the kicker...in before he tears his ACL later this afternoon. (Pfffft, knocks on wood, throws salt over shoulder).

I was thinking about this myself...
It does sounds a little steep for a kicker, but I've not compared Kicker salaries across the league so I've kept my mouth shut.

You can find an adequate kicker off the street. This 3 mill could be used for a quality backup along the defensive line for example.

Starting this afternoon, my son starts practicing kicking the football in the back yard. I don't care if it's only 16 degrees right now. It should warm to 20 by the time school is out.

I'm glad they kept Bailey but not at that price. I think this is a perfect example of old Jerry vs new Jerry. Old Jerry realized the importance of ST and kickers BUT he had Steve Hoffman be a guru to kickers and instead of overpaying, he'd bring in another guy to be under Hoffman's teachings. Now its..just pay the guy. Again, love Bailey but not sure is a wise investment.

And tie his right are behind his back. Left handed pitchers, always get jobs, doesn't matter if they are good or not.

Solid move.

In today's league of parity you're going to have so many games decided by a field goal or less it's imperative to have a kicker you can trust. Bailey is money and ice cold in the clutch.

Just hope he doesn't get a case of the Vanderjagt's and loses it overnight, I'll never understand how a guy can go from being the best kicker in the game to getting the yips and not even making a roster.

so you rather let him walk and hope you can find another. he is a RFA, so if you tendered him a 1st rnd tender it would have been 2.8 mil next year against the cap. with a new deal it's probably closer to 1 mil next year

What's the bottom line on the Bailey deal?
In other words, how much is guaranteed?

Yeah thats what his anual salary avgs to. So he signed a 6 yr lil over 19mil. But his salary will rise by the yr most likely. Getting cut somwhere hear the end of the deal.

Kickers can play forever. Why plan on cutting him now when he could have 10+ years ahead of him?

Very good news at a time when it is scarce.

Bailey is a great kicker and very deserving if this contract extension.

It's been good to not have to worry about this position for the past few years.

And now hopefully, the next few years.

Hopefully, he doesn't go all Vanderjagt on us......
