He should do time. I think 5-7 years is warranted. The dead pedestrian didn't hold a gun to his head and make him drink and then drive while over the limit.

He is still responsible for his own actions. He made the choice to drive while intoxicated.

Do you think you are I would be able to serve 90days in jail after killing someone with our car while intoxicated?

Think about that.

Yeah, if he's found guilty, he must pay the price...I agree.

But the Electric Chair? Or life in prison?

Damn, that is harsh!

what do you think happens to him?
Hard to say without knowing the prosecutor and the judge. Most of them aren't too militant. It's also hard to say without knowing what he's charged with.

Pure speculation on my part, if he's charged with intoxicated manslaughter and has no priors, he gets 2 years to do. But I'm not saying probation isn't outside the realm of possibility... some of it depends on the outcry from the family/public too.

would you be surprised if he gets only 1 year?

I'm betting he gets charged with involuntary manslaughter

It's hard to say what will happen. The prosecutor may reccomend 7-15 years.

yep, he can go to criminal court, and civil court, face jail time and the possibility of reimbursing the family

most likely I see him being offered a plea: reimburse the family, and spend minimal time in jail

As someone else has said, he could easily do probation, a fine, be suspended a few games, and go on his way. Anyone remember Little from the Rams... same deal. Sad...

Well, that sucks to be him!

I hope the dude's family gets compensated, which they most likely will.

Bad all the way around.

Does anyone notice how the press loves stories like this? America loves stories like this. Why not give the same coverage to Joe Smith who did the same thing 2 days ago? America is hellbent on capitalizing on people who make mistakes.

I feel they should be compensated, but they'll probably ask for an astronomical amount of money, it's getting ridiculous how much families are asking in restitution

it's like they're taking advantage of a loved one dying, that's just my feelings on the matter

all im saying is its time in America for punishments to fit the crimes i get tired of people getting slapped on the wrist for killing or Raping someone....HE KILLED SOMEONE because he was partying..let that soak in real good.......it wasnt an accident......he purposly got in his car after drinking the night away and went around another car that was already stopped at a light and now we are hearing he was drunk.....

if it was my wife or kids that got killed he would be lucky if he made it to court.......

so harsh? yes it is harsh...so is killing someones father, son, husband, or grandfather so that he could have a good time without any regard for anyone else.....

for him to get 5 or 7 years in just wrong...so at 30 something he gets out of jail and gets to carry on with his life free to drink and drive again or whatever...while this man gets to rot in the dirt.....

but im old school if it were up to me we would still have hangings in town square...

Its rediculous? So tell us JerryA. How much is a human life worth to you?

1 million/head?

When it is your child or your family member and you go through this grief, there is no price for the death of your loved one. That is just how it is.

I hear you. But, this is not the way it works...

In the old days, (before cars:laugh2: )...if you stoled something, they would cut you hand off!

Could you imagine what would have been cut off it someone reaped someone?
