Update: Steve Smith suspended 2 gms for fight with Ken Lucas...(Pics Post #37)

QFT: I haven't even SEEN it on ESPN yet. I'm sure they've reported it, but they aren't making a big deal out of what is a VERY BIG DEAL. Smith is a cancer, thug and a punk. Ahhh...the good 'ole sucker punch, nothing says POS and worst teammate ever more than that, Smittie. Nice company you hold now with another classic POS: Michael Westbrook.

shouldnt this be in the NFL forum?

not that i am the forum police or anything.....but i could care less about anything that happens to Carolina, unless they are playing the Cowboys.

WOW... that's harsh for internal discipline... He's arguably the best player on the team aside from Peppers...

Must have been a lot of damage to warrant a 2 game suspension.

I'd bet it gets merged with the first thread about the incident and moved sooner than later...

Yes, and Fox knows that. He suspended him anyway. I respect the coach for that.

:)

Isnt it funny how this is barely a blip on the national radar screen and just passed off as football stuff!!

lol Steve smith has always been a whiny trouble maker but he is not demonized pretty interesting.

If sam hurd had punched alan ball espn wouldnt stop covering it. Pretty funny.

Eh-either game can go either way.

Chargers are great, but you never know which Norv will show up. And the Bears don't have a QB.

Hey-don't the Eagles have their #1 pick next year? A 2-0 start wouldn't bother me at all.

Depends on where you've been looking. I've seen plenty of coverage on NFLN and ESPNews. There are articles about it on every major news site. So should we expect more?

this would never happen in college......unless there was intense fear of a severe penalty by the NCAA...

remember when Phillips was allowed to play in the National Title game even after he was getting into all that trouble at Nebraska...Osborne has no code of ethics.

Clarett was allowed to play in the Championship game even after his nonsense at tOSU.

I was surprised when Mack Brown suspended a few of his starters for the game against tOSU. In the past he has allowed players to play, so when he suspended them against the Buckeyes, it was something that I didn't expect. I actually gained respect for him when he did it though.

This is why Fox is a well respected coach. He has a code of ethics and he makes it known that no one player is more important than the sum of the whole team.

Well this is pretty significant event. Also, it could potentially affect NFC standings. So it's ok to be in the Fan Zone, IMO. If/when it drops, then it'll get moved.

Wow, I can't believe that. I wonder if they were afraid Goodell would do something if they didn't.

Or maybe they thought this was the only way to get through to Smith.

I kind of hate it since Philly has their 1st rounder.

Ahmad Bradshaw of the Giants just spent 30 days in jail and will do so again at the end of the season. but he doesn't get suspended? Goodell is such a joke

I hope this doesn't improve the Eagles' draft pick next April. One or two Panther losses could help them immensely.

Well...considering that the Eagles either 1) Trade out of the 1st round, or 2) Draft linemen in this round(when they already have too many), I wouldn't worry.

With that being said-the Saints are their only threat in the NFCS(and the Saints' D isn't all that great either), and their schedule is pretty easy...the Panthers offense alone(even without Smith) should net them 10-11 wins.

I believe it had something to do with his PRIOR activities(when he was in college, that is)...not something he did recently.

If Carolina is done with Smith (he has had these issues before and been suspended) I'd love to acquire him opposite TO.

~swoon~

:lmao: Me too!

my respect for John Fox goes up after hearing this! Look fights happen all the time but if its true that Smith suckered punched Lucas when he has down on one knee then this no doubt deserves a suspension although i didnt think he would be. wish there were more coaches like this in the NFL who suspended their players for their BS not just for fights but for all the illegal crap that football players do and can get away with!
