Once again, Steve Smith shows why he's somebody you don't want on your team.

Local news is reporting that Smith and Lucas were on a knee and jawling about some of the plays. Said that Smith stood up and sucker punched Lucas while he was still on a knee. Yeah, Smith is really tough.

This is the 2nd time in 4 years he's suckerpunched a teammate.

IMO, he should receive a significant suspension.

Well at least it was a fight worth noting. Looks like they both took some licks and have some bruises to show for it.

I always find it amusing when a fight breaks out between players wearing full pads. Unless the helmet comes off and swinging, what kinda damage can really be caused?

As for who started it, looks like they were both talking ish. So it doesn't matter to me who swung first. It was headed towards a scuffle anyway.

The eagles have their 2009 1st rd pick, still think Smith deserves a significant suspension.;)

I remember reading on the Panthers board late last year how their was alot of in-house fighting, and the players all but quit on Jon Fox.(Chris Jenkins was one of them who decided to "sent in his 2 weeks notice"-not surprising he eventually got traded)

One thing's for sure-Fox has lost control of this team.

Surprising, wouldn't have guessed that would happen -- he seems like a guy who would know how to control his players. A guy like Steve Mariucci, yes, that guy is as soft as marshmallow. A guy like Marvin Lewis, absolutely. He came out with some "developing like a beautiful butterfly" line when he was asked about Carson Palmer's growth as a quarterback a couple of years back. It took everything Palmer had to hide the grimace when an interviewer brought it to his attention. :laugh2:

Latest here in Charlotte:

Lucas: Taken to Charlotte for checkup. Some say possible orbital bone damage.

Smith: Sent home. Possible suspension from the Panthers per GM. (Smith did get one game suspension for fight in film room with fellow WR Bright which was also a sucker punch.)

His eye looks really swollen there - bones around the eye are very thin and easily damaged - occasionally can affect the eye muscles and lead to double vision. It doesn't look like he suffered the most dreaded complication of an orbital blowout fracture but pictures aren't great.

Would any of you want to play beside this hothead? I probably wouldn't. Wonder if Carolina tries to move him?
