I can't believe I see so many people against signing AP. I mean I know he's got baggage and he's gonna be 30, but he's a freakin' beast and someone who rushed for 2,000 yards a year after tearing his ACL. I truly believe no other running back in this league could do that. Trust me, I love DeMarco and I wouldn't be upset at all if we re-signed him, but I equally would love AP on this team.

If the Cowboys can't keep Murray, and Peterson is available at a decent price, since Jerry has already said he would love to have him, It's really hard to believe he wouldn't try to sign him

One thing continues to be left out and that is Minn holds the cards.

And those 'cards' will cost them $13 million. And any negative publicity that comes from keeping a player who says he doesn't want to be there.

A bit pricey...

Vikings should cut him now and get it over with,he ain't playing there again.

I don't think so either.

Show me where anyone from the Vikings organization said they'll pay him his current rate.

(hint: they haven't!)

And they're going nowhere.

They'd be better off trading him for draft picks and cap space. That cap space could be used to address key spots with younger talent, while using those picks to get their next RB.

A new Head Coach will usually push to win as much as possible now. Many GMs try to win now despite the odds because they might not have a job later if they don't.

I don't see anybody trading for Peterson because his salary comes with him in a trade. The Vikings would be better off to just cut him than to dork around trying to get a 7th round pick.

Excuse me everyone. All this means is that he is now an active member of the Vikings who have said they want him back. We aren't trading anything for that contract and they will probably not release him anytime soon.

They're not going to pay him $13 million. And when they even talk about a cut or restructure, how do you think it will go?

Wouldn't Minn be better off trading him to a team other than Dallas and getting something for him? Like OAK for picks or something.

I can't see a down-right cut incoming.

Of course nobody really knows, but what are the odds Murray's able to duplicate or be better than he was last year

Who would trade for him at that number? Same thing was said of Jackson in Philly.

They shopped him, no one would trade anything for him because they knew the Eagles were likely going to cut him anyway at that cap number.

Why not? People on this board tell me he is the best running back in the league and a superfreak. Why not pay him top dollar?

Not really Minn owns his rights he is not going anywhere. Peterson can't force a damn thing. He can whine about it and he is. I think he is using this as a means to get more guaranteed money from the vikes.

You keep on thinking that! Nobody in the organization will comment on the question of paying him his remaining contract. That says it all.

What is AP going to do sit out another season? yeah right he would be 31 year old back 2 years removed from the NFL. Ball is in Minn court

He's going to 'Steve McNair' them. Just like when the Titans didn't want McNair but didn't want to let him go. They tried and failed to put him on ice and they ended up sending him to Baltimore.

The only difference is that nobody will give the Vikings anything for Peterson and his current deal. They know they'll end up cutting him.

Literally no one has left thus out.

But by all means continue to act above the fray.

I for one am excited about the possibility of a pissed off well rested Adrian Peterson running off tackle behind Tyron Smith.

This is AP, not Desean. I am willing to bet that at least one team takes the bait.....Oakland, maybe Indy?

The fact is that deal is well beyond 'top dollar', especially in a declining running back market. It is by far the very worst in the league by tens of millions of dollars.

And ask yourself what Minnesota's best-case win scenario is with paying him that amount?

Absolute best case, what do they do? Make the playoffs and lose immediately?

What's the end-game for forcing him to stay and overpaying him by $7 million?
