– He said the Cowboys biggest defensive weakness was two minute pass coverage; the Cowboys were one of the worst teams last year in stopping opponents at the end of halves. (Cue Giants flashback here.) Dallas needs a bigger pass rush, in his opinion, to avoid a repeat.
I also felt this way. Best way to address coverage problems is to improve the pass rush, especially in the 2 minute drill. Improving the talent in the secondary is all well and good, but the best improvement would have been to make the pass rush even more fiercesome and unstoppable.
Dallas had the opportunity to address this when Taylor was there for the taking (still can't believe all it took was a 2nd and a 5th). My fear is that Spencer either does not progress as anticipated, or Ware goes down for any length of time.
Again, Taylor paired w/Ware would have been mind bogglingly insane. At the very least, Taylor could maintain the pass rush threat (opposite Ellis) if Ware ever went down. If Ware goes down, the pass rush would wither exponentially and the coverage problems will become greatly exacerbated.
As it is, their is no depth AT ALL behind Ware_Spencer is more suited to the strong side and neither Rogers, Walden or Robertson are starting calibre on a MEDIOCRE team, let alone a team in the SB hunt.
