Have to say I was a major proponent of drafting him and though he hasn't worked out in the league (mainly due to injury I believe) it was good to see that the team was as high on him as I was when he was in the draft. He just didn't fall to us.

Me saying that I'm excited about his signing isn't to suggest that he is going to be all pro tomorrow, but this is low risk high reward. He could really fit in here.

I think so too. One thing that can't be underestimated is the supporting cast. If Cooper does indeed start one day for the Cowboys, it'll be an ideal situation for him to be sandwiched between the best LT and C in the league.

who knows, once he sees how hard this line works and is around them, he may well turn into a quality back-up.

I'll believe it when I see it. Hard to imagine since there were many teams with bad OLs and none kicked the tires after NE dumped him (or maybe Clev picked him up after NE dumped him only to dump him later).

Good luck to him and I hope he turns into a decent OL.

I liked Warmack better because I thought Cooper was too much of a finesse player, but I would have been happy to get either player at that time. Luckily, we didn't and ended up with Frederick.

Not to put a damper, but you realize that he's only signed through the playoffs and then can sign with any team he wants come free agency in March? I like the signing also, but there is no guarantee he plays for us beyond this year.

If he has a chance to resurrect his career, we may be the only shot. If he can't turn into legit NFL starting offensive linemen in Dallas, with this culture, surrounded by this talent, and with our success identifying OL talent....it's probably not going to happen.

I'm excited about this also. IT will help this year but we also may have stolen another good offensive lineman. There's a reason why he was drafted as high as he was. If we can tap into that talent we at least got a backup with some potential. and if it doesn't work out, no harm no foul, it's not like we traded for him or drafted him. This is a win win type situation.

Yep...tap the brakes on Cooper being better than Leary or Collins. That's just pure hyperbole. I'd love to sign Leary long term if he didn't have the knee condition. He's a friggin' beast and will make a crap ton of dough somewhere next year. I will be pissed if it's in the division. I can see all three NFC East teams taking a run at him. I still say we should consider tagging him for a year. I know it's a ton of dough but we've paid him NOTHING to this point and gotten all pro production in return. Trade Romo and get his money off the boooks and it won't matter as much anyway. I know they won't do it, but the should consider tagging Leary.

Sometimes teams just aren't willing to wait for a guy with an injury or multiple injury issues to get healthy.

You know who can wait?

Teams that already have depth at that position but are thinking ahead to next year and beyond.
