Drew Bledsoe and Vinny Testeverde could at least throw the ball and be accurate with the Ball. They were still working on Vick before he got into trouble. The guy is a great athlete but he is not much of a QB and with this time away from the game his skills at QB are not going to all of a sudden get better. I could see him return as a slash type player but I think he was barely a QB before all of this came down.

Yeah, throwing to the opposition :p: .

He was certainly a mediocre QB (his last 2 years or so) but I personally think there more crappy QBs in the NFL right now than Mike Vick.

Suffice it to say, we will have to agree to disagree.

Vick was NOT a very good QB, he was mediocre to below mediocre QB, but he is a great athlete. I just don't see any team wanting him to be a backup QB when he is released.

His football skills will be diminished and he would have lot of baggage following him around and I just don't see any team wanting to deal with all that negative publicity, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah because frankly I did think much of him as an NFL QB and as Mora Sr. said the guy was a coach killer at QB. As an athlete I think Vick was maybe the best pure athlete in the NFL

Silverbear, the word Hate is a very strong word and I do not use it lightly when describing how I feel about someone.

I tend to save my hatred for Pedphiles, Rapists, Murders (the human variety) etc etc, non of which Michael Vick is.

Justice is being served in this case. Vick has lost one of the most important things you can have, his good name.

I really don't see what the big issue is and why such vitriol is being thrown the guys way?

Sometimes the creature known as the American can get their panties twisted over some of the most trivial things :p: .

Uh, um, which name would that be?

Michael Vick

or

Ron Mexico

or

Ookie?

Good name, yeah, OK?

OK...if you want to get technical, he's lost his 3 good names.

I'm sure he'll get a few more good names over the next 23 or so months.

MY definition of a thug is quite clear. Mike Vick is not a thug in my eyes. You have your definition and I have mine. "he's sadistic, and sociopathic, and generally a piece of garbage" :lmao: Talk about exaggeration. Many people in the country have committed far worse crimes and have gotten less time or even pardons. The guy committed a crime and he deserves jail time. I just think they gave him way too much.

Congratulations on having a fine hero!
The 'sadistic' part certainly doesn't seem to be exaggerated.

I don't know if he is sadistic and a sociopath, as I am not a Psychologist but I think he is guilty of being a loser and failing to grasp just how priveldged he was.

I really think this time is prison is going to humble him and fully expect him to get rid of all the losers and hangers-on like the two idiots that rolled over on him and his father, yes I said it, his father.

Hopefully, he will straighten out his life.

Yeah, I hope he does.

Failing that drug test was huge but I guess old habits are hard to break. I know folks are going to jump all over me for this but I wouldn't be surprised if he was using that to relax and calm himself down.

I have never used drug but I would be EXTREMELY nervous about losing my freedom and going to the pokey to possibly get poked :p: .

I thought MarK Schlereth had a good comment about a particular person in Vick's life, that being his father.

Schlereth was talking about how he was reading an article that had Vicks father's comments right after the story broke. He said his dad said, "I told him not to get that house in his name."

Schlereth, like most people were just dumbfounded by his dad's comments. It wasn't, "I told him what he was done was Illegal or wrong" or anything like.

I read an article an Atlanta Falcons Board where his dad was throwing Vick under the bus and talked about how his dad (who didn't even raise him) came back into his life and had recently asked for a six figure loan and for a house and Vick had told him no. Sour grapes anyone?

Mike Vick MUST get the losers and hangers-on out of his life and that needs to happen yesterday.

Sadistic. What he did and allowed others to do to dogs is sadistic.

I wouldn't be shocked if he came back as something other than a QB.
Key suggested it last night as well. But I remember hearing that when the seriousness of the charges first came down.

Even at 30, Key suggested he could be a specialty player. WR, RB, KR/PR.

I think it was Mort who suggested he could come back as a QB. With the dearth of QBs out there and the bad quarterback play the league was subjected to, there will be one or two teams willing to give him a chance.

Goodell has to let him back in first and with the way Blank has always gushed over him I'd be shocked if he wasn't back with Atl.

I saw a response from Blank on ESPN yesterday. He said that he never says no, with regards to Vick returning to the team but he did say that the Falcons would be moving on.

Sounds like he was being PC and I doubt Vick would be back with the Falcons.

According to KTCK...

and btw... there is no parole in the federal prison system. He will serve his 23 months...

EDIT: Fox Sports' legal guy says Vick has to serve a minimum of 85% of his sentence which is 19 months...

You do the hokey pokey and that's what it's all about.....

And yours is apparently on the idiotic side...

"he's sadistic, and sociopathic, and generally a piece of garbage" :lmao: Talk about exaggeration.

Well, let's see-- a sadist is somebody who enjoys inflicting pain... while it's commonly meant to refer to people who enjoy hurting other people, behavioral psychiatrists have established that sadists often get their start as children by hurting small animals, generally pets... Vick's hobby was setting dogs to fight each other to the death... generally speaking, an animal that dies experiences pain...

So sadist seems to fit... next we have the word "sociopath"... that word is defined in some dictionaries as somebody who is completely unwilling or unable to behave in a way that is acceptable to society... a rich man who practices dogfighting as a hobby certainly fits that definition...

Now, we come to "piece of garbage"... well, we know that beyond the completely disgusting hobby of killing dogs, Vick also ran around having unprotected sex with women, without bothering to inform them he had herpes...

Yup, that's a piece of garbage in my book...

As for your definition of thug, most of the rest of the world defines that word as a brutal and violent criminal... well, the criminal part is no longer in dispute, he's sittin' in a jail cell for the next coupla years as a result of his criminal activity... so I guess you think that fighting dogs for fun and profit is neither violent nor brutal...

Many people in the country have committed far worse crimes and have gotten less time or even pardons.

Which means they got off light, not that Vick got screwed...

The guy committed a crime and he deserves jail time. I just think they gave him way too much.

Not even two years in jail is "way too much"??

Sounds like you would have been pissed if they gave him unsupervised probation...

Seems like post-padding. There's a multi-quote button for a reason.

1) My posts are long enough, without trying to combine all of my responses into one post...

2) Are you REALLY stupid enough to think I care about your opinions regarding my posting style??

3) Your post is completely irrelevant to the topic being discussed, and as such constitutes post padding its own self... before criticizing a poster for a certain behavior, it would be advisable for you to not engage in said behavior your own self...

The way it works is, I read a post, and if I have a response to it, I post that response... then I move on to the next post, and if that has something in it to which I feel like responding, I make another post... if you have a problem with that, well, it's YOUR problem... trust me when I say that your opinion is so utterly insignificant in my world that it's laughable that you thought I'd care about said opinion...

IOW, this response of yours was an exercise in mental masturbation on your part...

Seems that the difference between us here is that I include sadists who torture animals for fun and profit in that group, and you don't...

I really don't see what the big issue is and why such vitriol is being thrown the guys way?

Gee, maybe it's because I think dogs are one of the best things in this world, and anybody who would abuse one of them arouses my rage... and maybe it's because there are folks out there acting like what he did is no big deal, indeed they're DEFENDING him...

Sometimes the creature known as the American can get their panties twisted over some of the most trivial things :p: .

You mean, like sticking up for a sadist who tortures animals for his amusement??

Thats why I said "if" he shows contrition. Prison tends to have that effect on people.

OK, fair enough... as I have noted, he certainly hasn't shown any genuine contrition to this point...

Like I said, people have played football and other sports after committing more heinous crimes.

Which is true, but which is also wrong... and just because those sociopaths got away with murder (in one case, quite literally), it doesn't mean that it's wrong for Vick to now suffer the full consequences of his actions...
