I bet that someone would go into cardiac arrest after receiving a traffic ticket driving the wrong way down a one-way street as a shortcut as long as no one got hurt in the process.

He's an employee of the NFL. It is the NFL which will decide his fate now, not his prison warden or empathic NFL fans. Love it. Hate it. Or fall somewhere in-between. It's all irrelevant.

Actually, he's a parolee, and likely will be for sometime to come.

They, and only they, dictate his comings and goings and if they deem it not in his best interest to freely leave the county, much less the state, he's not going anywhere!

True, but it wouldn't surprise me that authorities would ease restrictions of his probation IF and when he's reinstated.

Wowww what he did is really mean but he didn't put anybody in danger... at least I don't think so. He paid for it and I'm sure he will never do the same mistake. Do you agree with some religion that let young men have their knif with them at school? But some religions do... That part of the religion I find it completly stupid, does it mean they are necessary bad guys?

I've seen so many people doing mistakes... doesn't mean they never learn the lesson when they realize...

Who are you to say what he deserves and what he does not? Isn't the purpose of prison to rehabilitate? How do you know he isn't a rehabilitated man? He served his time as charged. If Goodell gives him clearance to play, I have no problem seeing him do so.

Ding ding ding

What happened with the state charges? Did he ever go to trial for that?

Michael Vick pleaded guilty Tuesday to a state dogfighting charge, clearing the way for him to leave a federal prison and attempt an NFL comeback.

Vick, 28, was sentenced to three years of suspended jail time, none of which will be added to his 23-month federal prison sentence if he stays out of trouble for four years. The sentence was part of a plea agreement with Surry County Commonwealth's Attorney Gerald Poindexter.

This isn't a debatable issue with the NFL and about what the NFL has done or will continue to do. It never was. People OUTSIDE the NFL can try with all their might to make it into just that and fail trying. Heck, even the NFLPA supports Vick's punishment outside of that which was/will be imposed on him by the judicial system.

Elements of illegal drugs and guns have long been associated with dog fighting. Of course the illegal gambling...the using of other people's dogs as 'training' mechanisms...other than that, completely harmless.

Just an excitable boy I guess.

Merriman cheats the players and fans with anabolic steriods, James Harrison beats the living daylights out of his girlfriend, half the giants are involved in a scandal where a loaded firearm was carried around a place with maybe a hundred innocent people, our own tank johnson has enough firepower to create a small militia.. and all these players are FINE by media standards.

Vick fights dogs, and he's the devil.
I just think that's funny.

I understand what the NFL try to do but sometimes they just cross the line.

Why should the NFL be so bad that they can't forgive anybody.

I don't mean the guy his a bad person or not in any way but I don't think we have the right to stop him working if he is still good at it.

Just keep the eyes open on with he does...

I don't mean I want the boys to sign here but some here said they would prefer BJ to be back instead of Vick??? C'mon we want to win it all if you want perfect people just go to the church and even though.... you'll find worse guys than him.

What he did was stupid but it doesn't mean he is completely bad and doesn't deserve forgiveness.
I barely know where to start with this one.

Okay, I'll give it a shot. Nobody is stopping him from working. The NFL is making, essentially, a decision on who they're going to hire, which is their right. As long as he doesn't violate any parole conditions, he is free to take any job that is offered him.

Yes, I would prefer BJ as a backup. Michael Vick would ruin this organization. You think this place is a circus now -- just wait till the press conference with Jerry standing next to Vick in his Cowboys jersey. (I stress here that this is a hypothetical -- it ain't going to happen.)

What he did wasn't 'stupid'. It was wrong. Was it the worst kind of evil? No, of course not. But it wasn't 'stupid.' If it were, you'd be right.

Apparently, Michael Vick "forced" the male dogs to rape the female dogs to breed more dogs to fight....the sad thing is that people actually believe that.
Ummm... yeah, that's established legal fact. I don't know if they've got the goods on him personally doing it but it was happening at his operation, which he was in charge of.

As a backup to Romo, I'd take Vick in a heartbeat. Don't laugh, because sually bqacku QBs are trusted less to throw the ball and more to hand the ball off to the RBs. So when backups come in, defenses key more on the RBs. But with Vick coming in, defenses can't do that because on a QB-keeper play Vick can take it to the house. He also has the scrambling ability (better than Romo's actually) to play behind our OL.

If he's the same Michael Vick. Out of football for a while now. Went through a lot mentally. Probably a very broken man mentally, regardless of all this so called therapy. They say prison hardens a man. Maybe not this case though. This is one case where I think the athlete would respect another shot at the NFL.

Especially since he's been punished more than any other player recently and has went from being one of the sports biggest stars to having nothing to his name. The man has done his time, taken responsibility and has done everything possible to adhere to the conditions deemed to him for his crimes. He'll respect his next shot but it should not be here. It's no good for Vick and no good for us. We both don't need the media on this.
