Every time I hear about Vick I remember that eagles fan from the old dmn board who was also a strong dog's rights activist. That dude must be going crazy right now.

fact of the matter is...Vick is the best dual threat in the game today

say what you want....yes its the eagles and we hate them, but this will cause us and everyone else problems

with Vick at QB you cant play the way you would like too play...

you rush 4....he will be patient and when the pocket collapses he will make plays.....you blitz? he can still break it, and is good enough too beat it with his arm

I watched the GB/Philly game. On one play from the GB 10 yard line or so, he dropped back to pass. He wound up throwing an incompletion to a well covered WR in the back of the end zone after several seconds of looking around.

Showing the replay, the announcers showed several angles and they noted no less than three receivers wide open for a TD, yet Vick managed to throw to the one guy surrounded by defenders.

That is who he is. He is not a guy who can stand in the pocket and go through his progression and find an open receiver. He is a guy who needs someone obviously open, or he pulls it down and goes.

He was a highlight reel at Atlanta, but ultimately he won nothing because he can't sustain drives. That hasn't changed.

I was at the Lions game....(Road trip with a bunch of buddies...one a Eagle fan)

and Philly didnt impress....their D have some leaks and seemed they didnt blitz like they did in the past. On the other hand....Best is a good looking RB for the Lions.

But watching the Eagles offense......its best suited for Vick.....Eagles OL wasnt very good against a solid strong DL the Lions had.

Vick made some nice plays with his legs with runs and in his ability to escape sure sacks....IMHO Kolb would of been killed back there.

For me....Vick looks like a cheaper version of a young McFlabb ....Can kill you with his legs but his decision making and accuracy is alot worse then McFlabb.

Well, if the Eagles players wanted Vick then I wonder how much love Kolb is feeling right about now.

Lets not get crazy now. Vick isn't that great.

yep he is. If he averages 200-250 YPG and another 50-100 on the ground and 2-3 total TD's that's not great? Please. Based on his past 2 performances his still got it.

He had an OK game against GB who obviously didn't game plan for him and then rang up some numbers on friggin Detroit. I think they jury is still way out on what he is now vs. before.

Furthermore, he may be better than Kolb now, but what about the future? Philly has $12M next year committed to Kolb and Vick is a FA. If they play Vick this season - a year when I don't think their defense is SB-worthy either - what do they do next year? Sign Vick to a massive contract too when you don't know what you have in Kolb?

Its a short-sighted decision to win a few more games than they might have otherwise by a coach feeling the pressure IMO. As I said, they are better this season no question. But if they stick with this all year they may have thrown next year down the drain for no reason.

Like I said, I can't argue much with you. I certainly agree that going with Vick now is going to impede any decision on Kolb later. And I agree that Kolb might develop into a better QB than Vick. But there is no escaping the conclusion that Vick is an exciting QB with some unique skills. He can do things no other QB has ever been able to do in the entire history of the NFL. I also agree that he is not the best passer to ever get on the field of play.

Career QB rating of 76.8.

75 TDs vs. 52 INTs.

There is a reason running QBs don't succeed in the NFL. I hope they sign him to a 10 year contract.

unless he has had a brain transplant he will never be a top QB. He is not as fast or quick as he was 4 years ago. He would have to be a tremendously better passer to really be a top QB and there is no evidence that he is that much better. So he goes from 54% to maybe 58%. Big deal.

I hear you, and I agree it makes our two games against them this year tougher as Kolb clearly needs to develop.

But I think the Eagles shot themselves in the foot long term.

You can't judge a QB like Vick on rating alone, and he has succeeded in the NFL, he singlehandedly took Atlanta to the championship game, he makes plays and wins games.

That being said, I hope for nothing but misery and failure for the stupid Eagles.

You may be right. Vick scares me though. He's Fran Tarkenton on steroids.

And then singlehandedly led them to nothing the next two years.

Maybe Reid gets a little more out of him, and that's a concern. But Philly went into the season after trading McNabb with unknown Kolb as the starter instead of the great Vick. There is a reason for that.

This post has gross conceptual error written all over it. The Falcons had a good defense, a very good offensive line, and a healthy Jamaal Anderson that year.

Michael Vick is what he is. He is a great scrambler and a very good quarterback when throwing on the run. He is a terriblr pocket passer. Monte Kiffen figured out how to stop him. You don't blitz him. You plug his running lanes and you mix up you coverages. Green Bay didn't prepare for him and Detroit doesn't have the personnel to be effective running this scheme. Let's see how Vick looks against Washington or us before we proclaim that he is a hall of famer.

HUGE fail by the Eagles here. This is a big mistake. Great news for us though.

You can't be serious... Kolb is a joke, Mike Vick is a heck of a player.

Kolb is a guy handpicked by Reid to develop and work into his WC offense.

Vick is a probable 1 year rental who is a poor fit for that same offense, and was largely signed to run some gimmick plays.

Its beyond stupid if they give this season to Vick. He could very well be wearing a different uniform next year, and they are still left with a complete unknown and untested Kolb as their only decent (and extremely highly paid) option on the roster in 2011.

I'm not a Vick fan but what might work out for him this time is that he has several deep threats and a running game and a good TE. He has a strong arm and with the two speedsters he has, that might be a perfect fit for his style of play. Also, he won't have the same pressure to be "the man" in Philly as he did in Atlanta.

I would much have liked to have Kolb play against us then Vick.

All I know is that Kolb looked like a deer in the headlights against GB. Throwing off his back foot, rushing everything, absolutely no poise. I was really looking forward to a year of his struggles.

With Jamaal Jackson gone for the season, they are going to have a lot of trouble with the OL. I think Vick probably gives them the best short-term shot at winning.

I hate that the players asked for this, if that's true. I'd much rather see a rift over who should start than solidarity and belief in the guy.
