I expected this at some point this season. Not after week two, but I expected it.

I actually think Vick will play very well in this offense. The loss of Westbrook gives Vick the opportunity to make up for some of the lost production without Westbrook. Vick has never been a pocket passer, and most likely never will be. He lacks the pocket discipline. He can however make plays out of the pocket because of his arm strength, and it only helps that if the pocket collapses he can still make plays.

Wow, there are actually people who think Vick is a good NFL QB.

LOL.

I don't know about good NFL QB but he is better than Kolb.

Right now, probably.

But the whole point of trading McNabb was to develop Kolb. Not stick in Vick for a year and then go back to square one.

The NFL figured out Vick before animals started getting hurt making this motion picture, they will again. Then they are left with a completely inexperienced QB making $12M next year.

I'm in the camp that thinks this is a good move for the Eagles. I think the concussion issue plays a part here but there was also an undeniable spark that Vick has created in the team. Just in my opinion.

PHILADELPHIA (AP)

Michael Vick earned himself a starting job by being - of all things - a pocket passer.

REID’S 180

Something made Eagles coach Andy Reid change his mind about his starting QB. Adam Caplan offers his take on what happened.

Vick will take over as the Philadelphia Eagles' No. 1 quarterback, coach Andy Reid said Tuesday, a day after he announced he would go back to Kevin Kolb.
''When someone is playing at the level Michael Vick is playing, you have to give him an opportunity,'' Reid said. ''This isn't about Kevin Kolb's play. You're talking about Michael Vick as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL right now.''

KC Joyner, aka the Football Scientist, had an interesting spin on Michael Vick and Kevin Kolb via ESPNNewYork.com on Tuesday before Andy Reid made his big decision. Joyner thinks the Eagles' quarterback situation is a good thing for the New York Giants:

"For the past decade, Reid has been blessed with the services of Donovan McNabb and his superb decision making (he came into this year with the third lowest interception percentage in NFL history)," writes Joyner. "Mike Vick and Kevin Kolb don't fit that bill, as both have fared quite badly in my bad decision metric, a tape-based stat that tracks how often a quarterback makes a mistake with the ball that leads either to a turnover or a near turnover (e.g. dropped interception, etc.).

"Vick, for example, had five errors of this nature this past Sunday against a Detroit team that has been one of the worst at forcing quarterback mistakes over the past couple of seasons. Kolb has fared even worse than Vick in that metric on a percentage-wise basis, so even if he is healthy, he might not solve this problem."

I fear that Reid didn't consult the Football Scientist's "bad decision metric" before making his decision -- and that's a mistake.

Oh brother. Vick has 280 yards and 2 TDs against the worst secondary in the NFL, barely squeeks by the Lions by a field goal, and he's "playing out of his mind" and "among the best in the NFL". That same performance would be considered a disappointment for any of the top NFL QBs. Romo gets ripped to shreds with that performance.

'It's amazing how little values some fans have. Vick is and always will be a disgusting waste of human life. Dont give me second chance BS. People deserve a second chance when they make a mistake. What he did wasnt a mistake it was a lifestyle choice that he committed again and again for a few years. He would still be doing it today if he didnt get caught. Lets not forget the brutality he inflicted on these innocent animals. After they served his desire for blood he would beat them to death, electrocute them, drown them, slam them into the ground until they were dead. Anyone that can do this to an animal that is just trying to win your love is a disgusting person. That fan base and organization are disgusting as well.'

Well said and i couldn't agree more.

Philadelphia deserves this guy.
