I think Vick is delusional enough that he'd insist on a trial to vindicate himself.
Then he'd lose.
Then he'd really regret not taking a plea deal.

Vick's only hope to ever play again is to cut the best deal he can and serve as little time as possible, (i.e., Jamal Lewis), then go out and reconstruct his image. By that, I mean he must show extreme remorse and beg everyone's forgiveness. He could explain that dogfighting was part of the culture he grew up in and that he now understands how wrong he was and he will pay his debt to society, etc. etc.

America is a very forgiving country if a public figure shows humility and remorse. But if he continues acting like a thug and showing no remorse, his career is over.

With all the controversy surrounding him, there isn't a team who would/could touch him even if he somehow avoided jail time.

And become a spokesman against animal cruelty.

Other than that slight omission, I agree with your post.

The article posted in the other thread indicates that the current offer is one year, and that Vick's team is trying to negotiate down from that.

If that's the case, he should jump on that like a groom on his wife during the honeymoon.

Just one year. That's a one-year suspension, which he's likely to get anyway.

Take it and call it a Pyrrhic Vicktory. ;)

You would have to imagine that there were SO MANY PEOPLE around or involved with this "Dog fighting" "thing" that he would HAVE TO CUT A DEAL.... something from someone will be said and he will get max or atleast alot more than if he cut a deal.

It just occurred to me that this story about the defense team being split is probably pure propoganda and othing else. Split?! Think about it. The Feds have him dead to rights with 3 Co-defendants already pleading guilty and cooperating with the government. The only hope Vick has is to buy off a jury member, ala John Gotti. His defense team know that but before they cut a deal they want to make it look like it was a hard decision and Vick really considered trying to exonerate himself.

It strikes me as nothing but propaganda. Similar to the statement his defense attorney, Billy Martin read after his indictment which he said were "Mike's own words." Then he proceeded to read a statement, in which Mike said how much he missed being with his teammates at "SPRING TRAINING"! Ha!

Could be the case, but there are some details that I would want to know before I made that assumption. Mainly, was the one year offer the first offer from the feds, or have they been negotiating to get to one year? If the feds offered one year off the bat, when he was looking at 5, that leads me to believe that they don't have too strong of a case.

If that was their first offer, or something close (say 18-24 months), then I think you would be right to question whether to take it to trial. There's gotta be something that they don't like, but I don't know all the facts that they have.

Another thing.. if Vick is gonna get a medium slap on the wrist with little or no jail time.... then he should atleast help nail the BIGGER dog fighting rings. At this point... its his duty.

If I were to hazard a guess about this case, my guess would be that the federal govenment's case is pretty sound. They don't usually even file a case unless they have a high probability of success.

Actually most prosecutors are like that. One of the factors in determining whether to charge or not is the likelihood of success at trial.

Of course that doesn't mean the person is guilty, just that there is a good chance of conviction.

Now that all his fellow dog fighters are turning rat, he is on the run.

I'm sure you think it is honourable to turn on your friends to save your own behind. Shows your character.

One's definition of right might not be the same as another's. Some think it right to have more than one wife, other's think you should not have intercourse with more than one woman in your entire life.

I just know never to commit a crime with you because to save yourself, you would turn rat right away. It is in your character.

Who will you commit a crime with? What type of crime are you contemplating? Got some homies that will ride the beef for you?

Since you have admitted you are a criminal, or are willing to be anyway, I guess it would be too much to expect you to understand what the rest of us might think. Your attitude is really warped. Maybe that is why you draw so much heat. You aren't in the mainstream. But you prolly think that is good.

So you think criminals should show more honor than they currently do? :lmao2:

Boy, howdy! you sure don't know what you are talking about. I am getting the mental image of a 15 year old with his hat on crooked, his pants saggin' down his thighs, and a brand new pair of Nikes on your feet. Mom and Dad buy you the new shoes so you can hang out with the OG's and listen to some bang on the box.

You pat yourself on the back for being a real gangsta, but run whenever trouble is around. You can't wait to get your drivers license so you can pimp out that honda civic your neighbor is selling and slap a big subwoofer in the trunk. Maybe get a summer job and put some spinners on it. You will be tricked out and ready jump.

Then the mountie shows up and you have to go home, because it is late and you aren;t supposed to be on the street past midnight.
