I still think he can be a major player. Let's see if Jerry holds to his word that nobody's job is safe. It's a chance for Bennett to push Witten if he thinks he can. IMO this kind of competition can only make both guys better...which is scary

Got it..

But, I found this little nugget that might give you some pause about your belief. It's a story about Brandon Marshall, but it contains something about the Bengals that's relevant to our discussion:

As first reported by NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Brandon Marshall was in Seattle on Saturday for a visit. This one will take some time to develop, but it does make sense given that Jedd Fisch -- with whom Marshall has a relationship -- is the O-coordinator in the Emerald City. However, one possible issue here: if the Seahawks do tender an offer sheet to Marshall and the Broncos don't match, Seattle would send the sixth overall pick in the draft to Denver. Is he really worth it for a re-building franchise? See below for one opinion.

So who makes a little more sense? As Schefter tweeted on Sunday, the Bengals are having internal discussions on the matter. Cincy had been one of the teams we'd linked to Marshall for quite some time, but as is widely known, the team despises giving up first-rounders in trade (the team has picked in the first round every year since 1989). Bengals beat writer Joe Reedy tweeted on Sunday that "the rumors on Marshall to the Bengals are mostly a smoke screen" to drive up the price tag. But given the current first-round price tag, the Jets have also re-emerged as a possibility in the buzz we heard last week. There's still a need for a legit No. 1 WR, and Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum is not opposed to pulling off big deals using the No. 29 overall pick. No matter what, it seems like this one might come down to the last few days prior to the draft before anything happens.

Here's Schefter on the possibility of a trade for a lesser pick, and NFC West blogger Mike Sando with a vote against Seattle making the move, even for their second first-rounder

Wow. That 'just because a reporter reports it doesn't mean it's a fact' theory just flew right out the window.

So Schefter says they won't ever trade a first round pick and it's gospel.

Ok.

Wow.

I did not know there were secret meetings on here where EVERYBODY got together and decided I wasn't cool enough to have groupies.

:laugh2:

And I guess you missed the real point I was trying to make.

Talk about the topic. You want to address me directly about something - PM me. Why would anyone want to read what you posted? They come here to talk football.

They sure didn't come here to watch you sound like a pompous *** who thinks he has the right to speak for EVERYBODY on this board.

:laugh2:

By your own logic, was there *any* part of this post that shouldn't have been directed to me in a PM? Or is your fly unzipped and your drama queen showing again?

Personally, I come to the site both to talk football and to mix it up with some of the personalities. If we kept it all football, all the time, it'd get pretty boring real fast, and half of the board members wouldn't have anything to post about.

He cries too much. Lets ship him out. He can go play with Greg Ellis.

That video is like an ink blot, different people see different things.

To me, he sounded a lot like a team-first guy. While he's disappointed that he's not seeing more passes, he understands that he's contributing in other ways. He's not throwing temper tantrums. He's not preoccupied with getting his numbers.

I don't think it was a bad interview....

What's the percentage of drops?

He was targeted 34 times. 15 of those passes were completed. Let's say he had 4 drops, the worst case scenario. That would give him a roughly 26% drop rate for a drop vs a catch.

Thank you.

you're welcome

What good QB is going to keep throwing passes to a TE who's wide open and drops passes.

So you think 34 passes thrown towards his direction in an entire season, and he dropping at the most 4 of them, is a good enough sample for a QB to make a judgement like you just did ?

Never mind the fact that he's not consistent in his route running or in knowing his assignments.

This would make a much better argument than the dropped passes.

Of course, there's no way to tell ( unless you work for the team and keep such stats ) how many plays were originally called for him and out of those plays, how many times did Romo was forced to look somewhere else ( or throw it away ) because HE ran the wrong route.

First of all, if you're going to butt in on a discussion, at the very least get a clue of what's about.

Second: this has nothing to do with gospel or reporters. It's just another piece of information that pertains to the theory of Jerry Jones refusing a #1 draft pick for Martellus Bennett from the Bengals that Theeb and I were having.

Right up until I read that, I had no idea that the Bengals don't like trading 1st round picks, and you know what, there must be something to that when they haven't done it in 20+ years, doesn't matter WHO or WHAT is reporting it.

I guess your point would be that I now have a vendetta against Martellus Bennett.

So that's why I posted this video. But we already know this would have been on here anyway.

You aren't seriously going to try and say that I only post negative videos and audio are you?

I mean this notion has been rebuked 1,000 times over before.

I really don't enjoy your overly condescending style sometimes.

:welcome:

I don't want to watch the video at work, but I don't really need to. Bennett has been a disappointment on and off the field at times. If he has no real trade value, then all we can do is hope he develops into a top TE because that would benefit the Cowboys.

I dont know what part of this is hard for you, I have even gone through this with you in another thread.

Bill Jones, works for laufenberg at cbs11...he also works for blue star media...the cowboys production wing....

The week of the falcons game, bill jones made a post on the cbs11 twitter account that he had it confirmed from a team source that it was a 1 offered for bennett, but the cowboys were not interested.

Then on that sunday nights score, the day we played the falcons....Laufenberg and dennis discussed it....Dennis must have had a source tell him the same thing and oh by the way he hosted the marty b show...

then the most important element, Babe Laufenberg. He is the color guy on the radio broadcast and the best in the business, anyway he was down on the field before the game standing talking to Stephen jones, The garrett bros, skip peete and ray sherman. Do you think He might have confirmed it?

and the other element that makes me without a doubt 100% believe it. Stephen Jones likes to tell the media how other teams want our players, he has done it every training camp since I have lived here and he has done it during a live interview with Babe on cbs11.

So again, its not in anyway second hand information.

From Websters:

Main Entry: 1sec·ond·hand
Pronunciation: \ˈse-kən(d)-ˈhand\
Function: adjective
Date: 1654
1 a : received from or through an intermediary : borrowed b : derivative <secondhand ideas>

Theebs I love your posts and we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

I understand perfectly what you believe to have transpired. I also understand a lawyer that works for the Bengals claims it was a fourth and crappy WR. Both accounts are second hand accounts. No one from either organization has spoken on this topic in public. My only issue is when people state something as a proven, verifiable fact when that is not the case. The pieces you have put together seem plausible but again it is just your theory, not a proven fact. No harm no foul.

Go Cowboys.

No you are shilling for attention hoping to boost your ratings and web hits. Lets not pretend otherwise. Most of us know what you are about. You are the National Enquirer of sports. Throw crap up and see what sticks or at least get you noticed.

Yeah. DC can be a bit abrasive at times but he's a good guy. Don't take him personally and you'll be fine. If you want any firepower, he's a Met fan. :D

why didn't we trade this guy for a first round pick again ?

Because no one offered a 1st. Pretty simple really. Why would a team give us a first for MB?

That explains a lot of things. I grew up in New Jersey and Mets fans were never very rational people.

IIIRC, Jerry said we received a significant offer for Bennett, but no one in their right mind thinks that Chris Henry (RIP) + a 4th round pick constituted a "significant offer." Who knows what the truth is.

I think I am going to use this as my signature so people like you who are clueless will begin to be educated.

If I was all about web hits.

Why in the world would I embed just about everything I do on here?

Why not just throw up a link in the thread to my blog entry which all have individual pages?

If something, audio or video, is embedded here then people don't even have to visit my site.

See how silly you sound?

The reason I do it is because fans enjoy seeing and hearing all the stuff.

Then they can 'talk' about it on here with everyone else.

And my opinion is coming with it whether you like it or not. I am just like you so it's a public forum and I think I have the right to express it just like you.

That's lesson 1.

I am sure they will be many more in the future.
