Scandrick looked pissed at teammates barking

By dcfanatic, August 28, 2009 5:31 pm

*Edit - I just realized the video originally in here was the hit video from last night. I have updated to the newest video.

There's a group of Cowboys fans out there who seem to be trying to 'blame' Orlando Scandrick for the injury to Roy Williams.

What a bunch of BS that is.

The kid was playing football. He wasn't trying to hurt his teammate and he had every right to be pissed that his teammates were barking at him...

The game isn't checkers! This is football and in this game people get hit when the ball is in play.

You want someone to blame? Then blame the ******* head coach who decided to let these guys go out there in front of a roaring crowd of 26,000 fans with no shoulder pads on.

I think it was a definite that the environment would have the players a little amped up, no? I know I would be a little more energized if I was on the big stage doing my thing as I battle for a starting CB job for the Dallas Cowboys while 26,000 people are watching.

And guess what? The injury still could have happened. Or another injury could have happened. They are a huge part of the game folks.

Orlando Scandrick should be walking around today not worrying about a damn thing. All he did was make a break on the football and make sure the WR didn't come up with a reception. That's what the Dallas Cowboys are asking him to do every time out.

Scandrick and Roy apparently said it was behing them. That's good enough for me.

From getting knocked down by Finnegan to having Scandrick treat him like a rookie wideout I get more and more worried about this offense.

Roy should be saying that. Just part of the game.

The fans who are hating on O are silly.

You're grasping at any straw within reach.

As far as Scandrick is concerned, he shouldn't feel any grief over that contact. It could've happened during any drill with any team. Sometimes things just happen.

It was stupid to have no pads. THAT was the big mistake and another one on Wade.

We'll Roy Williams goes 220, and Scandrick still knocked him down with his shoulder. Scandrick is lighter.

It was supposed to be a NO CONTACT PRACTICE, NO PADS!

He may not have "intended' to hurt him, but he hit him too hard for that particular practice for sure.

Not smart.

I think it wasn't a smart play on Scandrick's part. There is a line, and Scandrick crossed it. imo. He may not have intended to hurt him, but what does he think is going to happen when he pops him like that with his shoulder.

Go ahead pop him like that in a non-contact practice.

Just make sure the CB can fill in at WR while he's out 6-8 weeks.

The Cowboys are lucky.

I am surprise Dcfanatic would blame Wade for this

Who to blame would be anybody still harping on this, looking for some sort of sensationalistic point of view when this is some innocent occurrence that both parties have moved on from.

now riddle me this.....what is the difference between a non contact drill and a full contact drill genius?.....Scandrick is being too aggressive during the NON contact drills its that simple....i guess they should take the red jerseys away from the QBs as well..i mean its not checkers, injuries happen right?

And we are suprised that you choose to focus on me instead of the topic of the thread.

he went for the ball...they collided, he didnt "hit" him he made a play on the ball and ran into each other... no ones fault. except yeah maybe the coach for no shoulder pads but still not really anybodys fault

So then I guess the DB's are not supposed to defend the ball?

Scandrick is supposed to stand there and let the WR's run by him as they catch passes?

Did it look like Scandrick was looking to pop the WR or was he playing the ball?

So Scandrick is out there to 'lose' every time out then.

In your scenario the ball is being thrown for the WR to catch. They have those drills and there are no DB's playing defense.

Who is coaching DB's to stand around and watch WR's catch footballs while they are two feet away from them?

It also is yesterday's topic and today's non topic. Yet you felt the need to bring it up again and tell us what day it is (I mean blame Wade).

in full contact "no" in non contact "yes".....in non contact you have to make better judgment....you cant risk injuries in a no pads practice just to defend a pass..its not the first time hes made these type of malicious plays in a no pads drill .....if its such a non issue why were the players upset with him
?.cause theyve seen him do it before...i think they know the way a no contact drill should be run better than you or I

Did you not play organized football? Have you never gone half-speed, three-quarter-speed and full-speed? Do you not know the difference between a walk through and live?

There is a big difference and if it is a no pads, half-speed practice, you don't go up and nail your team mate.

Now, I don't really blame Scandrick that much, and this kind of thing happens when dealing with football and guys full of testosterone... but to act like he was supposed to knock the **** out of his own guy in a padless practice is crazy.

If he was supposed to stand there and let the WR catch the pass why would he even waste his time by being on the field?

You are making no sense.

Malicious? lol.

Now you are saying he was out to hurt Roy Williams which is ridiculous.

Watch the video again. The kid goe to stick his hand in and knock the pass down and they banged shoulders. Stop acting like he blindsided a WR who was opened up while trying to haul in a pass over the middle.

And the players overreacted in the spur of the moment. That's the point. That's why Scandrick was pissed. And that's why right after the practice the players all said it's part of the game.

This includes Roy Williams.
