I don't care about Romo being a terrible practicer, TO being a jerk who takes over meetings, any of this crap.

I think the real issue is where is all this information coming from? Do we have Coach joe calling up radio stations drunk and shooting his mouth off again? Jesus H....somebody shut this thing down already.
Buckle up, SP! We're on an express elevator to hell! Going down! YEEEEEEHAAAAAAW!

Bold--> Agreed, but if push comes to shove, one will be out the door and one shall remain. Should that happen, which will be labeled as the worst of the two?

I'm not certain if we can judge the behavior of one player to be any worse than that of another player.

However, if we're forced to choose between Romo and Owens, the answer isn't even debatable really: Romo.

Romo is younger, has a far brighter future, and is a quarterback. Quarterbacks are infinitely more important to the success of a team than wide receivers.

I think that Mexico trip, which many including myself defended as no big deal, was just the first sign of things to come.

I don't ever remember hearing about a QB of all people skipping town on a vacation during the playoffs, and their coach getting in front of a mike and defending it. That had to be the moment right there where Romo probably realized he had carte blanche here.

We'll see what tomorrow's round of anonymous squeelers brings to shed more light on the subject. :bang2:

So how do you explain this:

As some wonder where Tony Romo's focus is as the Cowboys enter the playoffs with Sunday's divisional-round game against the New York Giants, the quarterback worked into the night Tuesday at the team's Valley Ranch facility.

According to multiple sources, Romo spent extra time watching film on the Giants on Monday, and on Tuesday, the players' scheduled day off, he had his normal meeting with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.

What about choosing between Romo and Garrett?

You are absolutely correct CL - however, this is NOT the first time we have heard about Romo's poor practice habits. Now I am not saying that the stories are true, but if they are, this team will not go anywhere until Romo takes his game to the next level. The last thing this team needs is a quarterback who thinks and feels invincible. I have been nothing but supportive of Tony Romo ever since he took over the starting job but I am a firm believer that this team goes as he goes and I am not happy to hear these types of stories negative stories about his bad habits. As far as the product that we see on the field - I think it is safe to say that there are plenty of players that dont take practice seriously because it shows on sundays.
We never hear stories about Owens taking it easy at practice or not being a hard worker. Couple that with Romo's seemingly blah attitude and I can see why they'd clash. IMO though, Romo, as QB, should be setting the example... after seeing the 2009 season...maybe he has set the example and others are following.

This decision is more difficult, and I don't have an answer for it. It would depend largely on Garrett's ability to identify and develop good quarterback talent.

Are you sure that you want to leave that last (100% accurate) observation for everyone to read? You may not know this, BUT Terrell Owens is an irreplaceable cog of this team's offense. Without him, we're toast (or so it's been said and/or implied).

Indeed.

On the one hand, I applaud Watkins for digging to get the story. OTOH, those who are feeding him this are part of the very problems they seem so willing to share. Everyone knew there were problems in the organization, it doesn't exactly help fix them when some have diarrhea of the mouth.

Good find. Trust me I would rather be wrong.

I'm just commenting on the rumors du jour and possible validity.

I DO think much of Romo's performance issues were injury, and he doesn't get enough credit for gutting it out and playing in a lot of pain down the stretch - and yes, the attempted assassination attempt by Garrett. (how many more guys need to run free into the backfield to pound romo before we call a 3 step drop?)

I still want better coaching in place for him though. If not Garret Wade Wilson at least needs to get run out of here.

The Cowboys may, indeed, be toast without Owens. It doesn't change the reality that quarterbacks are more important to their teams than wide receivers. The Cowboys' offense was abysmal without Romo this season. Dallas won only once in the three games he was absent, and it required a herculean defensive effort against an offensively challenged, non-playoff Bucs team.

I think the thing people are trying to point out is that Owens is a talented player, and from a talent standpoint, we are better off with Owens than without.

And if Romo needs Owens gone to "command" the team, have mental peace, etc... well.... it calls into question if he's mentally tough to lead us to where we want to be. Barring catching lightning in a bottle like the Giants/Eli did, of course....

We could always hope for that though and cut Owens.

Whatever.

Don't care much either way. Keep him or cut him. I just want to know what the franchise chooses.

Terrell Owens eventually got dissatisfied with Jeff Garcia and turned on him.

Terrell Owens eventually got dissatisfied with Donovan McNabb and turned on him.

Why is anyone suprised that Terrell Owens and Tony Romo's relationship is starting to sour?

As the ESPN reporter stated, Jerry Jones is being mum on the status of Terrell Owens. Personally, I believe this buttresses the article that stated that the Cowboys were having serious internal discussions about getting rid of Terrell Owens.

Are you actually implying that there's serious problems with this team?

Perish the thought. Team chemistry is meaningless, and winning is all luck.

Didn't you get that memo?;)

It is all luck.

Every team in the superbowl every year but one was lucky not to have Terrel Owens.

:laugh2:

There's definitely an element of luck to it. But isn't it amazing how teams with good front offices and strong head coaches seem to get luckier year in and year out than other teams?

Especially 35 year old WRs.

This is playing out so similar to TO vs. McNabb it's not even funny.

True.

And every year since the beginning of dawn has won a playoff game without Demarcus Ware.

Same true with Romo.

Newman

Ratliff

Barber

etc.

But but but but Donovan McNabb should have been nicer to Terrell Owens and cowtowed to him.

Donovan McNabb shouldn't have told him to shut the hell up in the huddle when Terrell Owens was complaining about Donovan McNabb not throwing him the ball even when the Eagles were blowing out the opposition.
