If Carroll is that good, then Philly would have kept him. I think experience is extremely important here, but the rookies seemingly are bringing more life to the position, and therefore, they get my nod if everything else is equal.

He wasn't that good last year. We tried to sign him following his 2015 season because he was better than what we had in Carr, but he chose to go back to Philly. I think the belief of the staff is that last year was an aberration for him.

That might not prove to be the case, but there's nothing that he's done in camp up to this point to say it is and he sucks. Instead, he's won some battles and he's lost some battles. If someone wanted to, they could put together a compilation of videos making each of our corners look like he's the worst player in the league, but when you go through and watch each video and read all of the information coming from camp, it paints a true picture. The true picture on Carroll is that he isn't playing bad and certainly not any worse than any other corner on the team except for maybe Scandrick. Experience may ultimately give him the edge over the younger corners, at least early on.

It's Nolan Carroll. He makes Brandon Carr look like Deion Sanders.

He was on a team with a bad secondary last year and non-JJT reports out of training camp are that he is playing well. Stop pretending that Will McClay recommends softball league players in free agency.

He also won't get isolated again #1 WRs all day. On this team it will rotate and he won't have to take any many reps because of the young players behind him like Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis.

This was a desperate reaction to the fact that the only two veterans at CB were a 6th-round pick from last year and a 52-year-old with a crazy wife.

Carroll is a temporary Band-Aid. He is trash as a player.

This is exactly the problem. Fans pull a few video samples that support what they think and ignore the others that don't. I've tried to look at the whole of it in order to be fair, watching him in every video I can, reading all of the reports.

It's easy to put together a bad compilation instead of looking at the complete picture.

Carr was solid last year. Look at the numbers. The previous year? Not so much.

Nah Im not a fan of Carr. Sorry but I think he gives up plays during crucial moments of a game. That pass to Odell Beckham in the 2nd game against the Giants and the last completion by Rogers which gave Green Bay the win comes into mind.

Sure it may not be his fault. But he just doesn't make any plays to warrant him as a starting corner for the Cowboys.

I really don't know what we'll see in games. I'm eager to watch all of these corners because right now we're just getting bits and pieces and having to depend on others to tell us what they are seeing, which can be tainted by what they expect to see. I want to just be able to judge them for myself based on what they do with their time in the games, instead of saying so-and-so sucks cause he got beat on one play or so-and-so is great because he made an interception on another.

Dez beat Carroll....Irvin Beat Darell Green and Deion regularly...so do those players suck as well?

With this type of comments, I take nothing you say seriously.
Lose all credibility on that one.
Do you hate everytnig and everyone?
Good gosh, have you watched him play? The dude gets beat over the top left and right, even with a good pash rush in Philly.

He was signed as high-character insurance for a team full of inexperienced corners. Then, he got arrested and suspended.

Dez beat Carroll three times in one game. LOL

It happens to the best of them at times.

Anyway, I'm done wasting my time on this. I have better things to read and post and do.

That's a tough standard to hold since every corner gives up plays and sometimes those plays are at crucial moments. I try to look at the body of work, and Carr's was solid last year.

PFF had him ranked 51 out of 112 "qualifying players" last year. While PFF's rankings are certainly not the be all and end all, that seems to be a fairly accurate assessment based on how he played. He was starting-caliber, but a player you're hoping to replace with an upgrade if you can find one.

I'd say Carroll is similar to that. He's a starting-caliber player if he plays like he did in 2015. Maybe what we've got will prove to be an upgrade over that.

I actually hate having to defend an OK player for being OK, but it irks me to see fans fueling misinformation. I guess with some there's really nothing that can be done about it. I don't start threads like this for them, though. I do it so others who may be corrupted by those skewed points of view will have the rest of the story.

Carroll is Brandon Carr in more ways than one. Both are average DBs and both have internet chatter about them that takes on a life of its own. He will be OK as a starter, not great, not bad. The difference is he will have better players around him (and behind him on the depth chart) than Carr did last year or Carroll did in Philly.
A plug in for 1 year

Look at this. It was largely Carroll's fault. The Eagles have a very good pass rush.
