I'm pretty sure the original wording of the Mann Act, (it's since been amended, but never repealed) was transporting women for prostitution, debauchery or immoral purposes.

Having read Mike Florio's PFT rag for a few years, it's pretty clear 'sex' would qualify as all of the above for him.

Technically yes; even though it was clearly stated by the law makers that the private interactions of consenting adult couples was not the intent of the law. And in fact that little technicality is one of the situations where the law has been abused to circumvent due process on many occasions. I tend to get on my soapbox about abuses within the legal system and law enforcement using cheap tricks like this to replace solid police work so I'll get off this subject now.

If I flew my girlfriend up for the weekend you bet it is is for immoral purposes. She better not even put it on the plane if she is not going to put it out. But then she knows the reason I started dating her in the first place.

The Viking players put themselves in a bad spot. Our Roy Williams was on Dan Patrick talking about it and said something to the effect that football players are the biggest stars most cities have. They are celebrities and certain things come with the territory. He said "you just can't do those kind of things AS A GROUP." As an individual it might be OK but you can't do it as a group.

I agree that this situation smells a bit like a witch hunt but the truth is that the players got together as a group to do this IN A PUBLIC PLACE and that created the problem. Poor decisions by a group of young men. Hopefully they'll just get slapped on the wrist, pay a fine, and the Vikings can move on.

It's a good thing ESPN took Playmakers off the air for portraying a false depiction of the NFL. Oh yeah, and Any Given Sunday was just Oliver Stone over blowing the NFL lifestyle. And if you didn't know this type of stuff when on in professional sport then either you are eight years old or you have no idea of what is really going on. I believe the Mann Act is what "the mann" got Jack Johnson on back in the day. They tried/succeeded in getting his heavyweight title by threatening to incarcerate him for traveling between states with a white woman for illicit purposes. I'm not a historian, so someone in the know chime in...
