The Cowboys are pleased with the development of Gathers, who has made huge strides since the Cowboys made him a sixth-round pick. Gathers, a former basketball player at Baylor, had not played football since the eighth grade and thus was drafted as a project with still much to learn.

The Cowboys, while still considering all their options, have discussed promoting receiver Vince Mayle from the practice squad as an H-back. Mayle has spent this season, and most of last season, on the practice squad. His only game appearance came against the Patriots last season.

Rod Smith, who spent seven games on the active roster at fullback, also could be an option from the practice squad.

On a side note, our TEs ( besides Witten) do get hurt a lot. Escobar was hurt but now he's back, Hanna is still out, now Swaim got hurt.

YUK. When does Hanna get back? I don't even mind bringing Gathers up if you only used him on running plays or plays that he would run out as a receiver. I would NOT want him responsible for pass protection or blitz pickup duties.

I would take DMAC and make him a pass receiving TE.

And he can backup at RB.

Dunbar is ineffective and Morris has cooled off.

Time to adjust for the injuries as positively as possible.

Todd Christianson was originally drafted as a RB by us and when he went to Oakland..became All Pro.
