I don't fear any rookie QB, but I do respect them.

That said, I hope Monday's headlines scream that he's a bust. It's nothin gpersonal. He's just wearing the wrong colors.

:titans:

I love the Horns, I love Vince, I wanna see him do well in the NFL... starting with the game after this one...

Nothing trumps my love of the Cowboys... well, nothing sports-related, anyway... I do believe I'd skip primo tickets to a Cowboys game for an afternoon of adult mischief with Salma Hayek... :D

Compromise. An afternoon of mischief with Salma Hayek at the Cowboys game.

Yeah, he's not faster than basically every opposing defensive player anymore. If he hasn't found out yet, he'll find out real quickly that he can't run away from these guys. He's gonna have to beat us with his arm, which I really don't see happening.

Uhhh, he's faster than Randall Cunningham ever was, and RC put up some pretty fair rushing numbers as a young QB...

Vince is still too raw right now to give Dallas a good game. I think he will be an outstanding QB in a few years, but our D should shut him down and force him into some bad throws...and I am a huge VY fan...

You've also just given us the best analysis of the ramifications of this move that I've read so far...

Does anyone know anything about their oline?

Do they zone block, for instance?

Personnel wise, I only know Mawae...do they have road graders, have there been turnovers or injuries on their line?

Edit: I just found this info in the Pacman thread. hee hee

That shuffling of the offensive line may be the reason Fisher decided to go with Young in this game... he might figure his QB is gonna be running for his life, and Vince is better suited for that... LOL...

What I like best about this is that this game becomes a real nice tune up for McNabb next week. Facing the immobile pure pocket passing Collins would have been a disadvantage.
VY is no Mcnabb but in theory they should be defended in a similar manner.

My feeling on defending a mobile QB has always been an all or nothing tact.

Rush 2-3 and play zone giving him not much of an opportunity to take off against so many eyes in the backfield or
Rush 5-6 and play man behind. With the rush hopefully bottling him in the pocket with few rush lanes and forcing the QB to beat you with his arm and quick discisions.

VY is young and I think he won't last a half because he is gonna run like he still at Texas and forget about sliding and get rung up. Collins comes in and get killed because he is pissed he didn't get to start.

this sucks, it took me 4 days to get my Kerry Collin's voodoo doll, and 88 bucks

all for naught

Why does Bob Dole get the feeling that the Titans are gonna pull off the upset? It would just be so typical..

If this team lets Radio beat them in his first career start, they might as well not even play out the rest of the season.

I think the Titans made the right choice. They are 0-3. There is no chance they make the playoffs so why not put in the rookie QB to get some experience. We shouldn't be worried about Vince starting. He's clearly not ready to take on the load of an NFL quarterback and he won't be able to run on an NFL defense like he did in college. But I applaud the Titans for making this decision. This will allow Vince to improve and mature at a quicker rate.

For those of you that claim not to be nervous, let me drop these names.

*Marc Bulger had his first NFL action against us. He nearly beat us...had a great game.

*Jake Delhomme got his first extended playing time against us when he was with the Saints. He beat us.

*Jeff Blake made his first NFL start against our very good 94' team. He very nearly beat us.

*Eli Manning looked like crap against the rest of the NFL his rookie year...but his first win was against us.

*Ben Roethlisberger beat us.

*David Carr beat us in his first game, behind a terrible line, with no running game, or decent WRs.

*Heath Shuler beat us in 95'....yes, he beat our last SB team....

Conventional wisdom says that Young has NO CHANCE....but when it comes to teams playing the Cowboys, you throw convention out the window. We're going to get everyone's greatest effort.

I'm very, very nervous about this game now. VR has been a circus this week. We have two WRs with sliced up hands. Their WRs are big and strong (like the Jax WRs), they have a talented triumverate of RBs.....

It's going to be tough tomorrow....don't kid yourselves.

if youre nervous for this game, your nervous for every game. This has cakewalk written all over it

Most of it comes from my memory...which is rather shaky.

I mistook Bulger for Martin.

Delhomme did play against us when he was with the Saints..and had a good game....until then, had hadn't played much at all. He didn't pass for a lot of yards, but he had a TD run... I believe it was that score that beat us. LA was the LT that game and kept getting whupped by....can't remember his name.....Troy took a number of tough shots. Emmitt also had a tough game. The only Cowboy that had a decent game was Swinton???? He was our returner....had a ton of return yardage.

The 24-7 score in the Bengal game against Blake was much closer....Remember Shula going to Switzer and saying, "you can take that Iowa St. comment and shove it"...something to that effect. Blake hit a ton of long completions. That game propelled Blake.

You're looking at numbers to try to disprove my post, but if you watched the games in question, you'll realize that the rookies made life really tough for us.

And while VY may not light up the stat book, I think he'll do enough to really hurt us....

It was Jason Tucker, not Reggie Swinton. Swinton did not come around until the Campo days.

Any team can be beat. Dallas won't fall into a trap because they have yet to prove anything. If they are on a high horse, then they need to be knocked off or at leat batted around a little. I don't think this team as a sense of entitlement. They know they have to learn to win and also go out and just play good football and win some games.

Young is a great athelete and he'll be a good reciever some day. But he's a terrible passer. I can't wait till he plays. Roy Williams may double his INTs from the season.

Agree.
Young is a much better passer than Vick is for example.

I don't know about that. I don't think he has the arm of Vick. I'm not sure if he's as accurate either.

Definately more accurate than Vick, but doesnt throw with as much Velocity as Vick does.

What good is a rocket arm if you are not accurate?
That's Vick's problem.
Even in that commercial, who throws the winning td to Ryan(Deion's baby) in the end-zone.
It wasn't Vick. LT did it. :pink:
