Von Miller - I know that I feel very confident in the following.

1. If the Cowboys had signed him for 3-4 million less, fans would have blasted Jerry for getting fleeced because Miller got paid a ridiculous contract either way.
2. Signing Miller to a huge contract means some key youngsters don’t get resigned in the next year or 2.
3. Miller makes our pass rush better, but he doesn’t help our run defense nor make us a SB contender.
4. I have no idea why Miller is saying such stupid things to the media. If the Cowboys signed a free agent to a contract considered as historically big for the player and his age as Denver gave him, and then the player kept running his mouth about he’d have taken less to play for another team, I’d be so PO’d that the player would definitely be on my poop list. If I was his teammate, I would like it even less.

Miller would have given us a better pass rush if he stays healthy, but frankly, at this point, I’m glad we didn’t sign him.

I don't know why fans are bemoaning not signing Von Miller - or him not coming here. He's not the answer to our problems.
The issue with the Cowboys is not a lack of talented players. The issue is with the culture.
Reggie White couldn't change the culture of the Eagles (brass, loud, undisciplined) and that team was loaded. Randy Moss, Chris Carter, Robert Smith, John Randle couldn't change the culture of the Vikings (perpetual chokers).
We've had talent enough to win a Super Bowl.
There's an aura around this team that has been pervasive and consistent for 27 years. And it looks like our only hope is a lucky lightning strike.
Von Millers or no Von Millers. Don't expect a sustained run any time soon until the culture changes.

We have a talented team but the front office seems to treating this year as a stepping stone year instead of maximizing our chances of winning. I guess they don’t think there was anything that could be done to be in the same stratosphere as the Rams, Bills, etc so they made a conscious decision to not get better and maintain flexibility for the future.

Yep. The cowboys should be a decent to good team. They will compete for the playoffs. Maybe win the division, if not probably get a wild card.

Guys like Miller are obliged to make excuses for the fact they were too greedy to be signed to a team they covet. It's a weak excuse.

The fact remains that they were too far apart in their bargaining to come to a mutual agreement. He wouldn't have been refused, otherwise.

Bills definitely overpaid, but they could easily be one player away, having lost a very close one to KC in the playoffs in a very high scoring game. Their inability to stop KC cost them the game. Add in a pass rusher, and it could easily put them over the top.

Ummmmm..............

The Dallas Cowboys had egg on their faces following the fiasco with Randy Gregory. After trading away Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns on March 12, for a fifth-round pick, it looked like the team was going to be able to retain their biggest free agent. Only things fell apart after the sides agreed on five years, $70 million, over some language within the specifics of the deal. Gregory ended up in Denver with the Broncos for the same contract, minus the testy clause.

Trying to rebound from the loss, Dallas turned their attention to trying to acquire free agent Von Miller, two-time Super Bowl champion and Texas A&M alum. Miller was interested in signing with the Cowboys to return home, only the offer wasn’t close to what it would take. According to Miller, Dallas offered the same deal it offered Gregory, five years for $70 million according to an in-depth piece in The Athletic. That paled in comparison to the deal Miller signed with the Buffalo Bills, six years for $121 million.

Miller says Dallas then offered him the same contract they had negotiated with Gregory — a reported five-year, $70 million deal with two years guaranteed.

“I told them I was ready to come to the Cowboys,” Miller says. “I would have taken less to go to Dallas because it’s Dallas. But I wouldn’t take that much less.”

I'll never understand the Randy Gregory phenomenon.

I think Dorance Armstrong is a JAG and he could probably replace Gregory's production.

I find it hard to believe that Dallas could be so cheap when they could have brought Von Miller in. It would have
helped turn around the negative view of Dallas offseason. Truly is am embarrassment for a Dallas Cowboys fan.
