Wade Phillips just completed his 6th complete season as a head coach. Is there a trend here?

Year 1 - Started 7-4, ended 2-4
Year 2 - Started 7-6, ended 0-3
Year 3 - Started 7-4, ended 3-3
Year 4 - Started 7-3, ended 4-3
Year 5 - Started 7-4, ended 1-4
Year 6 - Started 12-1, ended 1-3

0-4 in the playoffs.

Is this a coach that can put the whip to the horse on the stretch run?

I love how you're arbitrarily choosing a different number of games each year to skew the results.

Wade has a VERY good team here with Dallas, and he led a formerly 9-7 team to a 13-3 record.

Can we please let up on him? It's only been his first season. Give him a break.

I love how you just arbitrarily chose not to address the issue that his teams close softer than they start every year for 6 years and he's 0-4 in the postseason.

Final Eight Baby !!!!!

Sigh

To unsuspecting readers, Inmanroshi is a closet Parcells homer and supports him by defending him or attacking Wade Phillips

....but I'll play along. Look, there is no doubt Parcells is and was a better coach than Wade Phillips, but that doesn't mean Wade wasn't a better choice for this veteran group of players that no longer was responding to being yelled at and having a conservative game plan. Parcells knew it too which is why he bailed. This is also why Wade surpassed Parcells with a 13-3 record. I don't know how Wade will do in the future but I'm would rather go with Wade at this point than someone like Parcells especially since we are retaining Jason Garrett

I love how you kept your freaking trap shut whenever this was happening to Parcells in Dallas.

Parcells is ancient history. He keeps being brought into the discussion, and not by me. I guess it's from people wanting to deflect off the topic of Wade Philllips, which is what the original post is about.

Does anyone want to address the original post? Bueller?

1994 Was started 2-6 finished 1-7
1995 Was started 3-5 finished 3-5
1996 Was started 6-2 finished 2-6
1997 Was started 6-4 finished 2-3-1
1998 Was started 0-7 finished 6-3
1999 Was started 5-3 finished 6-4
2000 Was started 6-2 finished 1-4
2004 Oak started 3-5 finished 2-6
2005 Oak started 3-4 finished 1-8

led team to one playoff appearance.

going into this year Norv was 24-46-1 to finish the season a 33.8 wining pct.

Going into this year one vould have used this argument to say that based on his track record he would not be a good candidate to "put the whip to the horse" at the end of the year.

Now what did Norv do this year? Hmmm?

Oh yeah.
Sd started 4-4 finished 9-1 so far.

I guess past results don't automatically indicate future results.

Honestly-what I don't get is that there are also alot of coaches out there that share Wade's similar laid-back style(i.e. Dungy, Reid, Lovie Smith, etc)-but somehow, their teams finish strong in Dec. Really-I'd like to know why THEY can do it, but Wade can't?

And BTW-even NORV TURNER is managing to ride a 9 game win streak now.

Sorry, didn't know we weren't supposed to bring up uncomfortable questions.
No but it will be a long offseason if all you're going to do is whine and moan for the next eight months.

Pretty much puts you in the category of such forum stalwarts as 40Bates40, Bach et al.

Exactly! Look at Parcells' Dec records with the Giants/Pats/Jets-he was THE KING of the holiday month. Say all you want how the game passed him by, blah, blah, blah when we came here, but the fact that he was < .500 during the month also proves that you can judge someone based on past performance.

I can picture the ad campaign now....

The 2008 Dallas Cowboys: Hey, even the worst of coaches eventually has an anomaly year.

Get your season tickets, now !!!

The 1998 Bills won three of their last four games to qualify for the playoffs, their only loss to eventual AFC runner up New York Jets.

The 1999 Bills finished with wins in four out of their last five games and six out of their last eight.

It's not as if he's never had teams finish the season strong before.

Wow, you used to be a highly respectable poster.

Then Bill Parcells left, and you got as bitter as bad grapefruit.

C'mon, we just had a 13-4 season, and we have a talented, young team.

Of course, this last loss was disappointing, but I can't believe this outlook.

Sometimes I think the Dallas media is rubbing off on some of you.

You skewed the results with the 98 and 99 Bills. You won't admit that.

and Wade is not among the worst of coaches no matter how much you want to spin it.

I remember that Sat afternoon '98 Jets game-they got hosed by the officials pretty badly, especially on that game ending Flutie INT where the replay showed the ball hit the ground(Heck, that Jets team benefited from alot of the officials calls that year).

Thank You...THANK YOU for pointing out the FACTS!:hammer:

Another thing-that whole Flutie/Johnson QB controversy that Wade (supposedly)started-it was actually RALPH WILSON'S call to start RJ in that "Music City Miracle" game. I'm surprised the mediots and fans fail to recognize this, continually.

BTW-Wilson was also the same idiot who canned Bill Polian, one of the brightest GMs in the business.
