I can't imagine Wade saying anything that would've made anybody feel better. He could've portrayed a more stern persona, thrown the entire team under the bus, and it still wouldn't have mattered.

Fact of the matter is, the team lost...and lost ugly.

He could've said "I just submitted my resignation to Jerry effective immediately."

I, for one, would be feeling better

The idea that we are having a crap season is NOT presently rooted in fact. We played 4 games. Only a moron would want to fire a coach 4 games into the season.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results

Wade Phillips is a defensive coach who can no longer coach defense. He's never won a playoff game with ANY team. He's a pushover who would rather have everyone like him than win games.

We saw it at the end of 2007. We saw it midway through 2008. We're now seeing it at the beginning of 2009. Notice a trend? Good, because it's about to get a little more complicated, so do try and keep up. We've slowly regressed every year since he got here, and it is now becoming a game by game regression. Our offense has gone from dominant to impotent in two years. Our defense, save a brief stint at the end of last year, has a complete and total DISASTER the past two seasons. To top it all off, the man shows NO acknowledgement of these facts.

Turning a blind eye to the facts do not change the fact that they are there. You keep your head in the sand, we'll continue to point and laugh.

Exactly.

Now look I'm no Jerry hater. I'm just not. I think the guy genuinely wants to win and he does a lot of great things for the Cowboys. He's willing to go out and spend the money to put the talent on the field. I love all that about him.

But Jerry is his own worst enemy and there for he remains the Cowboys own worse enemy. I know he wants to win, and wants to badly, but the problem is he wants to win a certain way. He wants to win with folks that he'll get the majority of the credit for the winning that way. He wants to win with guys like Wade who aren't Championship quality coaches cause Jerry, as bad as he wants to win, he wants to be the hero in winning even more. Jerry's enormous ego is going to continue to keep this team from winning as much as it should because Jerry simply won't do what needs to be done, and get a real coach in here, and let them get the job done, without Jerry getting in the way.

Until Jerry finally decides it's better to win without being the hero who did it all, instead of being the hero who does it all yet doesn't get the championships, this team isn't going to go anywhere.

POST OF THE YEAR IMHO.

Wade (opening his lunch bag): Aw shucks, I ordered a McDouble and they forgot to put on the cheese. Oh well, I guess I'll have to just order another one later and hope the remeber to put the cheese on next time. But I'll go back to that McDonalds and look at the drive-thru tape; maybe I ordered it wrong, or something. I can't say for sure until I look at the tape. They may have had a part-time employee too. We'll see..............Hey! Where are my fries?

:lmao:
Also these guys have put cheese on the burgers before, so I am confident they can in the future. We are just going to work on it and try to help them understand when I order that I want cheese on the burger and I think they will come around.

So you want Parcells back?

This gets really tired and old, and, quite frankly, is blind optimism.

We say: "Wade is a buffoon, a joke" (which is true)
You say: Ah, yea, he just needs to jump up and down and scream (as if that is all we think a good coach consists of)
We say: "We need discipline, we need accountability"
You say: So you want Bill Parcells back? (bringing up only ONE example of the kind of coaching approach we believe in, one that was on his last leg as a coach here, and one that still has a lot more on his resume than dough boy ever will)

Its the same old worn out answer from everyone who wants to defend mediocrity.

Wade needs to be fired, and if you really wanted to succeed this season, it should have happened after the Eagles game last year.

I will never understand why Jerry brought him back.

Continuity? We just tanked another December and got knocked from a playoff spot 44-6. We really wanted more of that?

Holmgren/Shannahan/Cowher not available until 2010? Even if Jerry has in mind set on hiring one of them after this season, he could've just as easily named Garrett the HC for 2009, rather than bring back the Pillsbury Doughboy. I mean, do I want Jason as HC? No. But I would take him for one year over having to squander another season with Wade.

Didn't want to buyout his final year of his contract? Granted the new stadium cost Jerry quite a bit, but I think he could've still afford to buy out Mr. Staypuff if he had wanted to.

I don't know of any other valid excuses. Wade has never won a playoff game in his career as HC. After our 13-3 heh heh season we went one a done and then missed the playoffs in embarrassing fashion. So there was NO LEGITIMATE reason to bring the man back.

You know we aren't firing Wade mid-season yet you continue to call for it over and over again, expecting a different result.

I'm assuming he got a pass because our defense led the league in sacks last year and the fact that our star QB missed 3 starts. Just a guess.

who is more of an idiot, the idiot that coaches or the idiot that allows an idiot to coach?

that is a trick question because both are at the top of the idiot-board in their respective areas (head coach and GM) ;)

Lookit. I would have preferred for Wade to be fired after Philly. Losing to a good team like Philly is one thing, but laying down and taking it is another.

The fact remains that you can't swing the pendulum back and forth on coaching style and expect to get any better. Many good teams in this league got guys young (e.g. Tomlin) and let them develop. It doesn't matter whether you are a disciplinarian or a "player's coach" - what matters is that you are a GOOD coach.

Operative word being "himself". No doubt the man can make some money. Football on the other hand is something entirely different.

I don't disagree with you completely, but where I take issue is with the idea that the "players coach" IN THE MOLD OF A WADE PHILLIPS OR A BUM PHILLIPS OR A JERRY GLANVILLE OR a hundred other guys like them, EVER succeeds long term.

You can have a coach who is more soft spoken if you like, but NO GOOD COACH is ever a guy who lets the little things go. When you don't pay attention to the details you lose football games. Period.

Or better yet, "The other place missed the cheese on my burger too" and "The better fast food place didn't make my burger today".

yes, he should be jumping up and down screaming. Calling out players and throwing people under that bus. Yeah, that crap helps.

He doesn't have to be throwing people under the bus, but a little bit of emotion might help. If he is passionate about his job, he would be as upset as the fans are ..... but no, it's just the same monotoned answers time after time.
