Man If we select Talib or Cason and Ray Rice with the first round picks, I'd be in heaven.

I was listening to a draft show on sports radio and most of the so called draft experts do not expect Rice to go in rd 1 and some felt he would be there until the 3rd rd of the draft.

I'd be shocked if he lasts till 3rd round or even 2nd round but then, stranger things have happened during the draft days.

Jerry is the greatest. This isn't intended to be a criticism of him, but one of the things we know about Jerry is that he has no problem saying "wow."

I think it is safe to say that whoever is drafted, Jerry is going to consider that player a "wow player."

Given where the Cowboys are likely to be drafting, they can't afford to be targeting only 1 or 2 positions. The Cowboys need to be prepared to pick the best player who falls to them (with the possible exclusion of a few positions, such as TE and QB).

I would love to see Cason in a Cowboy uniform, as well as Frank Okam (so that Jay can move back outside and replace Spears). They can focus on offense for the next two rounds...Dantrell Savage and a guy like Marcus Smith or Lavelle Hawkins in the third round.

One kid who seems to have picked up steam as far the draft prospect that is RB Jonathan Stewart. Many of the guys I was listening to think he will be the 2nd RB behind McFadden

Stewart and Mendenhall are the two names I seem to reading more and more of (behind D-Mac, that is).

Amazing.

I'd bet every penny in my savings account that not a single team in the NFL has their draft board completed (most probably not even started) yet you know which CBs have a first round grade?

Truly. Freakin'. Amazing.

There are numerous draft sites you can go to to see what rd a college player is projected in. Here's a few:
http://www.draftinsiders.com/
http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/players.php?genpos=CB&draftyear=2008&sortby=tsxpos&order=ASC

http://www.gbnreport.com/

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/

Amazing isn't it?

By the way,I don't need a team to complete their draftboard to tell me who is 1st rd talent. I live eat and drink football and listen to the experts. From your comments you think people need to look at draftboards before they make their decision on who is 1st rd talent. My question to you is what team makes their board available for all to see? I would like to inform Jerry about that. Thanks in advance.

McFadden is a wow RB, but he isnt the ONLY wow RB in the draft imo.

I agree, and I don't care what anybody says....Cleveland's pick is going to be in the 20's probably, and if we are 32 who would take that in a trade to move up into the top 2? Of course, wishful thinking on the 32nd pick!

I think we can kiss DMAC goodbye. He will cost entirely too much for us to move up.

Obviously, you do.

And it's amazing you know (aka you THINK you know) more about scouting players then those people that actually get PAID to scout players (aka SCOUTS).

But you "Eat and dring football" so you MUST know what you're talking about.

I think you ate and drank too much and you know have indigestion.

And you "listen to experts"? Who would that be? Rob "Boomer" Rang?

Hey guys, Wade said he believes that you should never draft WRs in the first round because in college the passing game is watered down so much compared to the complexities of the NFL.

Jerry said we need a "wow" player on offense, but said QB and O-line set. Pretty safe to say TE is set also along with FB. Thus, it leaves WR and RB. Now Wade says not to draft WR in the first.

Well, a "wow" player is going to be selected in the first and if the 2 positions available are WR and RB and head coach says no to drafting WR, that pretty much leaves RB.

I think it is safe to say the "wow" player from this draft will be a RB and there is only 1 RB that is really considered a "wow" player.

I think yall know who I am talking about.:D

:starspin Well, if Jones does want a "wow" player as he has said he does, then I would say that he will want either a WR or RB. There may be some very good WRs available, but I'm not sure if I'd put them in the "wow" category though. So, perhaps that will lend itself even further to us taking a RB, but unfortunately, I think we'll have to give up too much to go up far enough to take McFadden though. Kevin Smith "could" be an option, but I'm not sure that he would be enough of the "wow" factor to satisfy Jones. Miami appears headed to have the 1st pick, and even if they do take McFadden, they're still going to need a lot more than just him to make their team effective. The smart thing for Miami to do would be to trade that first pick for multiple picks and/or players and try to build their team faster with more picks and players, IMO.

I think we are in a GREAT position to draft a stud RB like Darren McFadden due to the fact that Dallas has such a young and talented team. Even this year there were only a certain amount of roster spots up for grabs in training camp. The only REAL competition in training camp was fullback, #4 and #5 WR's, 3rd TE, etc. Due to the great depth of our team, can we afford to package some picks to draft that "WOW" player from Arkansas. I'm almost 100% positive Julius won't be back, and I think Jerry regrets not trading up for Adrian Peterson this year, so I think he'll make the move for McFadden this year. Does anyone know what it would take to move up to lets say, #5 overall? Maybe our two 1st rounders, a 2nd and a 4th?

just for reference I have found a listing of draft value charts supposedly used by teams to assure that they get fair value for draft trades. 3000 pts for the 1st pick , 2600, 2200, 1800, 1700 for the 5th pick etc. if we assume that McFadden is the 5th pick we would have to package 1700 points of value for him. Now assuming that we get the 32 pick it's value is 590 or 31 value 600 then the Cleveland pick looks to be in the 18-24 range value 740-900 we would need to add about 200 to 370 points of value for the trade to work.
This would mean adding picks from other rounds for example the 64 pick is valued at 270 the last pick of the third round is valued at 116.
Agreed this is lots of assuming and we know what that usually is worth but it at least give you an idea of the potential amount you might have to give to reach the 5th pick.

Its called an opinion. Why the hate me for giving mine. Or you one of those guys who has a problem with anyone giving their view. What you wrote made no sense about a draftboard. Noone in this forum has access to a draftboard of any team so what were you trying to say. By the way when did I say I know more about people scouting players? Are you okay?

Actually, there will only be 31 picks in round one this year because of the Pats little video-gate incident. It still wouldn't be enough to move up, but I'm not convinced that the Boys need to move up to get good players.

:starspin You're right, McFadden "is" the wow player Jones wants, question is, whether he will be able to make a deal to move high up enough to grab McFadden. Moving up high enough to grab McFadden will be costly, so who knows...time will tell.
