A reporter today asked him why, when we use so many personnel packages with so many players on defense, has Bobby not been able to get on the field?

Wade said it was basically a combination of Bobby playing poorly in the last preseason game along with Bradie James playing so well. Wade admitted that coaches aren't always right, and said maybe they put too much weight on that one preseason game. But he got a chance there and he didn't show much. He also said he didn't know Bradie would be such a good player until he saw him in action, but that Bradie needs to be on the field for us.

Wade did say that it was nothing against Bobby, because he's a good guy and a good athlete, and he works hard. Wade also said he'd get a chance to show what he could do this game.

Carp sure didn't appear to show much effort at all during that last preseason game. It was pretty pathetic IMO.

Should be interesting to see how he does Sunday.

Maybe Carpenter is a "playoff specialist" :laugh2:

The regular season is just abou over. ONE BIG play in the playoffs and all is forgiven.:)

Didn't Carp hurt his quad in that last preseason game? Wouldn't that effect his performance?

Dunno.

But it would affect his playing performance.

;)

I was with you on the Carpenter debates leading up to the draft.....and I still think Carpenter will develop into a good player for us. I think that starting him at OLB, moving him to ILB, back to OLB following Ellis' injury, back to ILB this season.....has slowed his development.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. Maybe it wasn't really hurt that bad... I don't know.

Yes he had a torn quad muscle during the last couple of preseason games.

As I recall, he went into the game hurt. Kinda a bummer that your one chance was a preseason game where you were hurt. Someone is going to give Carp a chance. If they are audtioning him for a trade this game, I hope he steps up great. IF Wade hs a foot on his throat, maybe we can get something for him.

We are so loaded at LB that its hard for anyone to break in- and if you stank it up in the last preseason game I guess that marks you for life. That sounds a little dumb on the coaches parts= if he did indeed have an injured quad they should have given him another chance down the road. We have had a couple of blowouts they could have put him in for more playing time.

I would love to see a lot of Carpenter, Spencer, Burnett, Rogers, & Tank on Defense.

I would like to see a lot of Fasano, Stanback, Glenn, Johnson, Julius, Marten, mcQuistan, & Free on Offense.

If Johnson could lead us to a win like he did Minnesota, that would be so fun. I might actually like him.

Wasn't he on the nickel defense until after the Bears game?

I don't think Wade is telling the whole truth.

I don't care what the watch says, the kid is an athlete. I for one would like to see him catch a couple passes and see what happens.

Carp better step it up next year or I am in favor of trading him. The fact he can't get on the field except on special teams speaks very loudly to me.

Someone did ask about Stanback in particular, and Wade said he'd probably be active. (Which sounded like a way of saying he would be, without telling the Skins for sure that he would be.)

One can only hope (and dream)... His arm is rubber though. Perhaps he does have a tad left in the tank. It'll be interesting.
