Possibly. But did Donnie Edwards excel at getting off blocks?

He was primarily used as a coverage guy in San Diego.... Burnett could be utilized in a similar fashion.

Though, having a Jamal Williams in the middle certainly keeps blockers off you too....

I also worry about KB's ability to stay healthy. I think he can have a long productive career in this D doing what he does now.

The Red Sox had to wait until game 6 of the ALCS for J.D. Drew to pay dividends. He got a monster hit(grand slame) and helped lead them to WS. Up until then... he did nothing for them.

I will take a Carp contribution in playoffs :D

Drew got hot in the middle of August and had an OPS around 1.000 for the remainder of the season leading into the playoffs.

Carp was hurt in that audition, he plays and works hard and played well for 4+ games last season including a playoff game.

Ive seen the guy play well as have others. I seriously doubt that he just lost that and the fact that he has worked his backside on ST instead of moping should tell a lot about his character.

I have never understood why people literally attempt to will him to fail.

Ask Wade gets good answer about Carpenter

I chose questions about Isaiah Stanback and Bobby Carpenter from this morning's post. He indicated that Stanback should get some playing time Sunday, and he gave a much-more-honest-than-expected answer when asked why Bobby Carpenter hasn't found a role in one of the Cowboys' many defensive packages.

"'Cause of us, maybe," Phillips said, referring to the coaching staff. "You know, we've made those decisions, and that's what we've gone with. I told them all, coaches don't always make the right decisions.

"And I think Bobby will say this. The last preseason game, we gave him a big opportunity, and he'd didn’t play well. Maybe we looked at that too hard, because he's practiced hard. He's done all the right things in practice. Good guy, and he's a good athlete.

"Bradie James certainly came through. That was a part of it, too. I didn't have that feeling going in, but I did after a certain time – that Bradie was a really good football player and needed to be on the field for us at that position during first and second downs, for sure. That kind of inhibited what we were going to do with Bobby.

"He'll get some playing time this week and get an opportunity to kind of show us again what he can do."

Carp has been a solid player on Special Teams.

This kid should be playing on Nick/Dime packages.

In regards to Drew... you are talking stats. I am talking direct impact contributions. It didnt happen until THAT playoff game.

Anyways.

In case you thought I was raggin on Carp. I wasnt. I actually hope he shows something when given the opp in playoffs.

Why in the world you would want to see a WR/QB who only runs a 4.58 is beyond me......

Maybe Stanback will get off the IA list this weekend...

P.S.

Note the 40 times...

I don't think there was ever an official 40 time on the kid in 2007. He DID NOT run at the combine because of injury and i doen't remember one and can't find one from any Cowboys workouts with IS. My bet is Draft Scout got these from UW from some spring 2006 40 times he ran. Just a guess.

Please don't jack the thread with that tired old bogus "scouting report"... How many times can this trick work?

JPM was being sarcastic towards Hostile; basically poking fun of eduncan and his agenda against Stanback...

Hostile understood this and made a comment about liking old, slow people (perhaps taking a slight jab at eduncan by referring to Henry.....or referring to himself ;) )

No one, other than perhaps eduncan, thinks Stanback is slow.

He ran track. And nearly qualified for nationals (?).
Now why in the world would you think I would do that?

Oh yeah, that's right, I would.

so a 10.48 100 meter time equates to a 4.58 40 time? I've seen ginn reported at 10.4 to 10.5. Yet Ginn ran a 4.38-4.45. Tell me how there can be such a dramatic difference?

I really enjoyed that ! I side-tracked half the thread, think I'll have a brandy in celebration.

I also remember Stanback stating he had no idea where that 40 time came from he said he was never timed in a 40 yard dash. That makes the 4.58 crack at Hos even better.

It never has. It is trumped by Stanback's own testimony that he has NOT been timed in the 40 since High School. Track and Field athlete's do not run the 40. Quarterbacks rarely run them. He was injured and did not run at the Combine.

That number is the incomplete invention of a juvenile mind.

For the curious:

The thing with the injury is I wasn’t able to show everything I can do leading up the the draft. I heard people say I run 4.55. I’ve never ran that in my life. I’m a 4.3 guy. I’m in month 6 of an 8 month recovery, so I’m able to run and around and cut.

I didn’t start running track until my junior year of college. When I started I ran the 100 at 11.2 and by the end I got it down to 10.48. I ran the 60 in 6.80. I missed making the Nationals by .02 of a second.

I've e-mailed The SportsXchange about it. They get their pre-Combine numbers from two organizations known as BLESTO and National Scouting. There's no telling where either of those organizations came up with them. It could be completely made up for all we know.

And replace who? Burnett? Roy?

I think not.

If he could play, he'd be out there. We have better players ahead of him, and there is a reason he's not on the field.

most scouting services make up times before the Combine, NFLDraftCountdown does it all the time, and then they post the official times from the Combine after they are completed

Teams pay $100,000+ for their services. You'd think they'd simply put N/A rather than fabricate a number.

Why?

What has he done to show anyone he is better than who we put out there?
