Wade will have as much control over things as Parcells did

hey, i like the hire, our off was good last season and 3rd in scoring, the def failed toward the end of the season. wade will help that and id still like to see r, rivera as our DC. and our def should be no.1 next season

All I needed to know. Campo claimed the same thing.:D

Campo claimed that he would have as much power as Parcells?

I know this fact doesn't fit your agenda, but I never heard Campo say anything that would leave me to believe that he had Parcells-type power. If I am wrong, please post your proof.

can you guys stop it with that banning crap?
verry, verry immature and not to mention disrespectful of the other posters.

Lighten up, Francis. I'm sure he meant it as a joke.

Im not comparing Campos power to Parcells. I thought it was a general statement that Phillips made about having power period. Campo did say he made the decisions all the time when prodded by the press.

Sorry to confuse.

No, I would rather we signed Rivera. Phillips is the best of a bad bunch after that. He don't have it in him to even try to gain control from Jones.

What makes you think that Rivera would have any more power as HC than Phillips would. Wade Phillips has a history of not being a puppet.

I think Parcells had too much power. Ireland should have been allowed to make the draft picks and this is especially true with Philips. Coaches tend to get over their head when given GM duties (Holmgren). Let coaches coach and let the personal departement do their job. I don't want Jones telling the coach who must start and what schemes to play, but I don't want Philips making the draft picks either.

Proof?

Sorry, but I don't remember Campo ever saying this.

I just think Phillips is a stop gap until Jones thinks Garrett is ready. He's not going to give him a ton of rope. Rivera being a younger guy might have made a better run. His not being a 34 guy is what hurt him.

This has got to be one of the best statements ever made on this board. Coachs should have some input, but there is a reason the scouts are out there doing their jobs.

I suppose you are a member of the H.A.N.D. group (How About Norv ******)?

I thought we were all part of P.O.O.N.T.A.N.G.? (Phillips Obviously On New Team As New God). After all, we are all Cowboys fans with a new Cowboys coach.

If Phillips stated that he was to get as much control as Parcells then that measns that Jones told him that.

Now you can say that Jones is a liar or you can say that this was never said but unless you think Jones is a liar then its true.

The whole puppet scenario doesnt make sense. Wade Phillips is not a croney like Campo or a nobody like Gailey. He is an established well thought of member of the NFL coaches fraternity. This whole sentiment seems to come from a dislike for Jones and not a shred of logic or proof.

Hey, did you know gullible isn't in the dictionary? It is written on the ceiling, though.

from reports Phillips is one of the most popular coaches within circles inside the league. other coaches like the guy...is very respected for his coaching...esp on defense. You dont spend as much time in the NFL as he has without having people's respect.

This guy is no chan Gailey puppet type. Jerry is always going to have some input as its HIS team and HIS money but I think the notion some seem to have that Wade will be some puppet with Jerry pulling all his strings and contolling everything he does is flat absurd. it makes no sense. Phillips isnt that kinda guy and isnt some push over type with how he wants to coach

ive known DizzG from Spurs message boards and i trust him. while i have not agreed with many of Jones' decisions i have never thought him a liar. and Phillips doesnt have the reputation of a liar.

So exactly how am i being gullible? because i dont agree with your illogical agenda?

hr got fired because he wouldnt fire dehaven in buffalo after that playoff loss so now all of a sudden hes a coward. sorry that your take makes no sense.

I certainly "hope" that he does not turn out to be another puppet, we don't need to have another one of those around here again.

Phillips will probably only coach for a few years, but that doesn't make him a puppet. Phillips has proven in Buffalo that he allow himself to be fired before having decisions dictated to him while HC of a team.

I would agree if I didn't think much like Norv this is his last shot at any HC position. Did any one even interview Phillips besides the Cowboys for a HC spot?

Al Davis didnt but he picked some college coordinator for the job. I wouldnt call that an indictment and the Vikings i think had an opening and didnt but i dont recall them interviewing anyone.
