Cam Newton did the same thing Johhny did in a better conference and won a national championship. Had the size all teams look for in a QB but got considerably less media adoration. Hmmmm....

They both play in the same conference, but Cam did win a national championship. Of course, he had a significantly better defense helping him along the way. IMO, there is no way Cam wins the championship if he was playing with A&M's defense. No way.

Now Cam does have the size teams want, but he doesn't have the moxie that Manziel shows. He doesn't seem to have "it" like Johnny Football does. Cam gets by and wins with his superior physical tools, including in large part his ability to run over and through defenders. Manziel gets by because he is a football player and he makes good things happen.

It is just how I see things, and lord knows I'm not always right... but Manziel has something that is very hard to define and I think he's going to win wherever he goes.

IF he's there at 16 the cowboys will draft him. 2 ways they don't. Someone offers them a great trade. The scouts lock jj up in the bathroom to prevent him from calling in the pick. There will be nothing bigger than johnny footbal playing for the cowboys. Its a matched made in heaven. Or hell depending on what side you are on. If he gets passed the vikes at 8 make no mistake about it the cowboys will be on the phone getting a feel what it will take to trade up.

1000% agree this is JJs favorite college player and he would not miss out on a chance to get his guy

Never a truer set of words typed.....and, since this is entertainment, you pick the guy that gets you the best chance of media attention, not wins, but media attention

I am hopeful that Jones has started to realize that you don't win with guys like this when you have such a plethora of actual needs for your middling team...manziel sets the team backwards, not forwards...manziel sits for 2 or 3 years (minimum) so you take a first rounder to sit him during most of his rookie deal? when there are HUGE defensive needs on this team? then, by the time that you use him, it is just about time to start giving him raises when he hasn't gotten on the field to learn......and, the media attention EVERY time tony throws and INT would be deafening...a QB controversy is not what this team needs when you have your franchise QB locked up for the foreseeable future....the ONLY reason I would even consider a QB in round 1 is if they get a medical report that Tony is not going to be healthy with that back

I think thats exactly the type of thing Zordon would love to happen lol

I would love to see Goodell announce the choice. The reaction from the fan base would be simply incredible.

Shot in the arm? What good is that initial shot in the arm when the QB turns out to be too small, too fragile, too reckless to play in the league like some feel Manziel is? How's the shot in the arm working out then?

The only thing that bothers me about Manziel is his durability. The intangibles, competitiveness and smarts are there. He is a leader without question and is extremely passionate about the game.

Height, not a problem for me.

Reckless? Are you joking? Romo does the exact same thing and people love him for it. Now it is a negative? If so, you had better consider Romo "too reckless".

Your second point is correct. Jerry should have listened to me and let Romo play out his deal. I know deep down Jerry regrets it. Jerry probably didn't sleep at all last night dreaming of his boy killing the Pro Day while he is stuck with a QB who gets boo'd in his own city. Too bad it most likely won't happen b/c you can't sit the kid for 2 years and waste away prime years to use a cheap player.

Do you really think Jerry regrets signing Romo? The only reason would be his back.
Please dont kid yourself thinking that you actually buy the crap your selling

Dude, Romo is not in the same stratosphere as Manziel in terms of improvising and making reckless plays. And I don't even like Romo but that comparison is off.

Romo is the closest player in the league now who can make plays via improvisation like Manziel.

Yes I do. He would have at least had a big discount on the contract if we waited and had the back issues come out. I also think he's enamored with Manziel's moxie. It reminds him of a young Jerry. Romo has a very aloof personality that does not match up with Jerry's.
