You may be right...5 games? But Jimmy G has yet to see defenses make major adjustments to what he does well. He’s good, but we haven’t seen NFL DCs hit him with all their crazy looks and adjustments. Ask Dak how different that makes things.

I think the niners were so bad, they had no place to go but up.

Jimmy G is going to get rocked next year.

It’s a QB driven league. You either have one or looking for one . Or you have to build a great team and defense around a lesser one.

You have more confidence than I Based on what we’ve seen Dak is enough or our dysfunctional organization can surround him.
Confidence? Ummm.......not sure that's what it is. Due to Dak being a hard worker and one who improved drastically every year in college, someone who has a great attitude and exudes leadership, I do believe Dak can play at a high enough level. I was never looking for Joe Montana, and you could already see the things he needed to work on during his rook season, so last season was no shock to me at all.

And this wasn't about being confident, it was about people(not you specifically by any means, Greg) constantly filling every thread w/ spew and blather about Dak. It's like, geez, can you talk about something else at some point? We've gone over Dak a billion times. You don't like him, we get it. We've discussed it. Can we discuss other aspects w/o you feeling this weird need to constantly spew the same ol' diatribe about the QB?(Once again, not you specifically, Greg).

I hope you guys are right about Dak cause if your not we could be stuck for years cause we’re going to sign him regardless because much like some of our fan base his Rookie season won over our hearts.

But I promise you it’s the biggest reason why we aren’t getting the respect in these preseason ratings. Dak..and the lack of as good a QB as the teams picked in front of us.

Winning in January? What’s that? If the front office never has any expectations then we just get to watch other teams do it.

I hear ya and appreciate it. QB is not our only issue but it’s one position if you have a better one that can masks other issues instead of exposing them.

Problem is a great defense could do as much to lend support but who has confidence we can build that?

I'm not right or wrong, because there's no way to rate Dak at present, and I'm not making some silly proclamation based on nothing. He's been both good and bad, and it all comes down now to whether he can work through his issues. Since he's a very hard worker w/ a great attitude, I'd think there's a good chance he can.

I don't give two dingdongs about the preseason ratings, btw. No way I'm going to get my underroos in a wad worrying about some spewing head in the media.

Right now, we have a young QB who has shown both good and bad, and a very talented rook who only lacks experience, as he hasn't played QB for all that long, and has monstrous upside.

Soooo, what else is there to talk about referring to our QB? Of course it's a key position, and of course you can mask other issues w/ it. But, that's just the obvious. There's nothing left to say about Dak.

I was so hopeful with Romo going out that with this OL and running game we’d finally draft a great prolific passing QB but we appear to be settling for second best again.

I like Dak. I see his assets. But you must see his weaknesses. The rest of the league does.

I’m sorry. I’m greedy. But it’s one position that’s very difficult to overcome without a great organization and coaching staff to surround a lesser QB.

Depending on us to be a Ravens or Tampa type championship team with a lesser QB is a much riskier proposition with our dysfunctional franchise and coaching staff.

But again , we wonder why we aren’t getting respect . It’s because we don’t have a great defense or QB.

Pending the results there will be much more to talk about. Seeing is believing.

Let’s hope he can work thru his issues. It’s just not how I’d go about building my team or hedging my bets.

A hard worker with a great attitude sounds more like a lunch pale carrier that would make a great backup not a very talented prolific passing QB leading a dysfunctional organization to a Championship. But that’s just me. Whatever my thoughts and views are worth.

Didn't make the playoffs last year, Dez and Witten need to be replaced, Eagles won the Super Bowl...it's not hard to understand.

Who cares about preseason "respect" anyway? Winning in the postseason is how you earn it.
I so totally agree with Jake's last sentence. I watch, follow, and root for my Cowboys for inner personal satisfactions. What a bunch of "professional" talking heads predict does nothing for my Cowboy fandom. I also have a the most minimal confidence in their prognostic prownesses.

I enjoy a lot of your posts and predictions because for the most part we are all kindred fan spirits and have essentially the same expertise as most of the"pros".

Screw the talking heads. Go Cows!

Not saying i don't want our team to prosper in the playoffs, because just the thought of it makes me a little giddy.

But, just too much clickbait out there and emotionally skewed opinions and writers with agendas. Long live the Cowboy Zone. I don't care if the heads do or don't pay us homage (well, maybe the guys over at BTB).

No, it's not the biggest reason. It's only your reason because you absolutely hate the player. Yes, we know already.

PFF, ESPN's QBR voters, the NFL passer rating system, Dak's career win/loss & TDs/Int ratio and several others state Dak is much better than you give him credit for.

How much better are the Cowboys and this offense if we insert a much more prolific passing QB?

Put a young QB like Jimmy G, Wentz or a Goff in our offense and we are instantly elevated.
Goff doesnt belong anywhere in that conversation lol unless McVay is attached to his ear.

We are starting to see the annual pre-season predictions from almost all the usual media reps. I’m always amused by not only the predictions but even more so by the fans who scream “disrespect” because their favorite team was predicted to crash and burn. If a writer gives a good prediction, he’s “credible”; if not he’s “an idiot”. Everyone wants their team to be respected and that’s understandable.

This summer’s predictions that I’ve read as a collective group seem to have our Cowboys as high as 12-4 and as low as 7-9. ESPN local writer Todd Archer has us at 10-6 and a WC team. Dallas Morning News’ Jon Machata has us at 9-7 and out of the playoffs. Big whoop. I believe the Cowboys have enough talent to make some noise. Do they have the coaching? We will see.

Honestly, I put ZERO credibility into any of these predictions, good or bad. The NFL is the toughest pro sports league to predict. Raise your hand if you had the Jaguars last year in the AFC Championship? This year, they are one of “sexy” picks which usually means they won’t make the playoffs.

The reason the NFL is so hard to predict year to year is because the difference between a SB winner and a non-playoff team is not that far talent wise. Unlike the NBA or MLB, the talent pool in the NFL is spread pretty evenly, and the way the salary cap is managed these days, teams have a lot of turnover from year to year. Every year in the NFL is a new adventure.

My main point is this- None of us know what teams will be in the SB this year, but as far as getting some of that “RESPECT” that all fans crave, there’s literally only one way to get it with the media: WIN in the playoffs. Get at least to a conference championship game. And guess what? That’s actually fair. You want respect? Earn it by winning some playoff games. This team hasn’t won two playoff games in a season since Barry Switzer was packing heat in his suitcase at the airport.

Here’s a few links to some pre-season predictions...if you care to imbibe. LOL!
1. SI- https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/06/07/nfl-schedule-2018-team-record-predictions-analysis
2. Dallas MN https://sportsday.***BANNED-DO-NOT-...018-schedule-will-even-year-kind-dallas-again
3. CBS Sports https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...game-for-every-team-plus-super-bowl-champion/

Respect is earned by winning in January. We will get zero respect until that happens. And again, that’s fair! Let’s go Cowboys!
Very good read, sir!
