No, it's not the biggest reason. It's only your reason because you absolutely hate the player. Yes, we know already.
Hate is a lazy description . I don’t have confidence Dak has the NFL caliber passing skills to lead this team to a championship.

Nor do I believe we can build a dominant defense enough to carry a QB like Dak to a championship .

Without either a dominant defense or top QB I have no confidence our dysfunctional organization and coaching staff can overcome either. It is what it is .

If you believe Dak is enough to overcome all of that or our Football Idiot can get it done regardless then you certainly are believing in something we haven’t seen this era.

greg, AC hates romo and has wished and prayed somebody would come alone and play good so he could say, "I told you it was all romo's fault".. sad.. he's still crying about it..

PFF, ESPN's QBR voters, the NFL passer rating system, Dak's career win/loss & TDs/Int ratio and several others state Dak is much better than you give him credit for.
Ultimately there’s only one stat that will matter. Winning in the playoffs and propelling us to a championship. Otherwise we can lose with anybody. I only get attached to champions.

I’m not bashing Dak anymore than I bashed Romo. I just don’t think he’s enough to overcome our dysfunctional organization.

Seeing is believing.

Oh ok.. underlying agendas. Lol

If we could build a great defense like we never did with Romo and surround Dak with more he might could drive the bus but who believes we can build that?

I hate losing and I hate being handicapped. I blame Jerry not Dak who like Garrett is a product of our dysfunctional situation.

But if we already have to take a second fiddle GM, front office and coaching staff can we at least get a great QB?

I’d certainly like our chances better but there’s really only one who is totally responsible for our failed previous eras. And that’s who I’ve always targeted. He even admitted the responsibility.

How much better are the Cowboys and this offense if we insert a much more prolific passing QB?

Put a young QB like Jimmy G, Wentz or a Goff in our offense and we are instantly elevated.

We become "Superbowl" elevated!!!!

Anyway. Back to Bobs thread. Why aren’t we getting more respect? I’ve laid out what I think. What are your thoughts.

Right now, we have a young QB who has shown both good and bad, and a very talented rook who only lacks experience, as he hasn't played QB for all that long, and has monstrous upside.

Soooo, what else is there to talk about referring to our QB? Of course it's a key position, and of course you can mask other issues w/ it. But, that's just the obvious. There's nothing left to say about Dak.
I could be wrong, but it seems to me that a lot of the picky criticisms of Dak are made by fans still pining for Romo. It reminds me a little of when Roger retired.

The greatest QB ever to wear the star was a very tough act to follow. And Danny White was actually a pretty dang good QB in his own right, but it wasn’t until White won some playoff games that the Roger talk died down. Danny White went on to win 5 playoff games (3 more than Romo) and even led the Cowboys to 3 straight NFC championship games, but never to a SB.

My point is, if Dak can lead this team to some playoff wins, the attitude around here changes quickly. Fair or not, for QBs there’s really only one way to earn lasting respect in the NFL and that comes through winning playoff games.

The criticisms of Danny were not winning the big games after losing 3 straight championship appearances .

I don’t recall the criticism on his lack of NFL caliber passing skills or defenses disrespecting him by stacking the lines forcing him to beat him over the top, the team collapsing with an injury, only his, or having a 26th ranked passing offense .

There is a much deeper criticism going on here which some fans are turning a deaf ear on. It’s a big part of why we aren’t getting the respect because how difficult it is to win in the playoffs without a better QB and or defense.

If Dak wasn’t a Cowboy I bet he’d be recieving much more criticism from fans on his passing ability weaknesses. For example , Look how much we’ve bashed Eli and he has 2 Rings. We bash Wilson with a ring. This is what still could be in store for Dak even if we have more success.

The only conclusion I’ve come up with so far is we’ve become so desperate this era for anyone who might resemble the greatness to lead us we jumped on the first glimpse after his Rookie season. Which is fine, I had hoped initially too, but we aren’t obligated to hang onto to that for eternity. There’s nothing wrong with saying. That fizzled out. It wasn’t as good as we first thought. Time to move on. But for some reason we get so Dug In. I just don’t get it. I get why Jerry is but as fans we don’t have to.

Sorry to get back into this but when you use the Danny comparison it sparked this response because it’s not the same type of criticism. Nor was it the same with Merideth who never was criticized for his passing ability or lack thereof.

I find the 49er “love” hilarious. They are basing their inner improvement essentially on the back of 4 games that Jimmy Garropolo played well. Jimmy G has way less credibility than Dak IMO.

I dont agree. Garrappalo is obviously a stud QB. Has he even lost a game in the NFL coming in cold each time. Went 4-0 or whatever with a niners team that hadnt won a game? And that was after only being on the team a few weeks to prepare? Comes out of the Patriots organization and has been trained by the best.

Niners had a solid team its just the QB play was soooo horrid they couldnt win any close games. Now they have one. Different ballgame.

Thinking about Zeke more. They all started gameplanning for Dak last year. Wasnt it obvious? Taking away Beasley? And his legs are a big problem for teams. They also probably want to keep him in the pocket as he throws great on the run.

But if you pick your poison, you shut down Zeke and take your chances with Dak no question about it. All teams will do it starting in the first game of the year.

Yeah, it seriously is. Find something else to harp on, Dak is still an unknown. And don't forget, it's the casual know-little fans who are always screaming about the QB. Move on til he proves it this season.

These same Dak haters that are so critical turn a blind eye to turds like Heath, Garrett, Dez, Tapper, ect....ect..... Funny how that works.

You may be right...5 games? But Jimmy G has yet to see defenses make major adjustments to what he does well. He’s good, but we haven’t seen NFL DCs hit him with all their crazy looks and adjustments. Ask Dak how different that makes things.

I think the niners were so bad, they had no place to go but up.

Dak had little problems up until Smith and Zeke went out. Yes they did take away Beasley and and they made it a little more difficult, but he was still balling big time. I think some of the issues was having to force to Dez and the moron coaching staff not adjusting things to suit Dak enough. Still in the Romo friendly offense. Look at all the changes they are making this year? Should have done all that before the bottom fell out. Foresight instead of afterthought. Garrett is always behind the curve and never out in front of it. We lose whole season because he is always slow too adjust or see things going forward.

Let’s hope he can work thru his issues. It’s just not how I’d go about building my team or hedging my bets.

A hard worker with a great attitude sounds more like a lunch pale carrier that would make a great backup not a very talented prolific passing QB leading a dysfunctional organization to a Championship. But that’s just me. Whatever my thoughts and views are worth.
Sean Lee is a hard worker w/ a great attitude. So is Zach. It's not how you describe a backup, it's how you describe a player that has a great attitude and works hard at his craft!!!!

Is Dak very talented? Absolutely. However, at the QB position it takes more than just being very talented. Cutler was talented.

And see, Greg? Here we are regurgitating the same exact mess in an unrelated topic. Which is why someone complained about spewing more QB spew.

I honestly don't care what the rest of the NFL, sports writers, or fans of other teams think, write or say about the Cowboys. I honestly don't understand why other Cowboys fans care about such things. I'm a Cowboys fan, period, end of story. I don't need someone else's approval, encouragement or support to be a Cowboys fan. And I don't worry about the approbation of those who opine against the Cowboys. Who cares about the respect of others? Not me. I care only about my own self-respect. I like the Cowboys. No apologies. No excuses.
