My job gives me a new truck to drive every year and I've been doing it for 8 years now.

2 F150's
3 Dodges
3 Chevy's

Ford - Didn't care for either of them. My least favorite of the 3. The interior looked cheap and the seats were uncomfortable for long distances. Lots of room inside (crewcab), but other than that didn't like them. Power was fine, nothing to complain there, but my trans. in both seemed off to me.

Dodge - Rode great and had plenty of power. Interior was nothing spectacular, but better than the Ford's.

Chevy - Easily the best ride as far as seats go. Interior was nice for a truck and comfortable. Dodge had more power but Chevy still had plenty for hauling trailers.

My brother has a late model GMC Sierra and I like it, but I like the way F-150s ride more. I also like the front cab layout better.

Gas mileage isn't much of a concern. This truck is a 2.7L 4 cylinder and used to get 21.9 MPG. Now it gets around 20.2 MPG. To me that's ridiculous. I won't ever get a Toyota truck again.

This is definitely between an American-made truck or a foreign SUV, and I'm leaning towards a truck.

I have a 2002 F150. It's currently got 150k miles on it and is running strong. I can't recommend the F150 enough.

I finally got a job today (thank God). I'll be the warehouse manager for a company that supplies erosion control and related materials for construction sites. I'll also be managing the warehouse next door that supplies concrete brick for landscaping work. It's a small company, but I'll be getting paid pretty well for a single guy ($32,000).

I've got a Tacoma now and the transmission is going out, so I want to get rid of it ASAP before I have to sink $2,000 into it. I don't want another small truck like a Tacoma or Nissan Frontier.

What do you guys recommend I look at? And should I get something new or preowned?
any thing American made, seems the new f-150 does just about everything better than the other the other companies but thats just going by the commercial

My wife just bought a brand new SUV last fall. The end of last years models were marked down. After making a great deal plus factory rebates she paid about the same as a 2 year old SUV.

Look for a truck just coming off of a lease. My wife and I bought a 34,000 dollar vehicle for 21,000. The truck had only 17,000 miles on it. Never buy new.

Not a truck, but vouching for buying used. My wife and I just bought a 2010 Mustang, premium package and all that jazz, for $18k when new this thing was $27k or $28k. It only had 14,000 miles on it. Thing is in great great condition.

Always buy used.

Yes. Used is a great way to go. I bought a used Saturn for 4,800 and it only had 50,000 something miles on it.

I strongly encourage buying the following.

I think you could get into one for about 3100.00/mo

Well it's a Computer Information Systems degree.

Best of luck with that. I have a Bachelors in Computer Information Systems, with military experience and a TS security clearance. I couldn't get a job in the IT field.

You'll find that certifications are worth a lot more than a degree, when it comes to the IT field.

Just something to keep in mind...

Went shopping with a young kid just a couple of months ago for a truck. He told me that he had 27K to spend but that he wanted to spend about 20K only so that he could have money to fix up whatever he bought. Good kid, goes to school with my Son, works, been saving money for a long time. Drove a 1972 Ford F100 Standard since he was in HS that finally did give out. We spent about a week shopping but in the end, I think it was worth it. Got him a 2 year old Dodge Ram 2500 Crew Cab 4x4 with 11K miles on it for 14.5. Not top of the line and it was a standard, which is what he wanted, but by the time we were all done, he had a nice truck, bought an extended warranty package that gave him 60K bumper to bumper for 15.5 out the door.

I don't like Dodges but he liked it and he's happy with what he bought. You can find deals out there if you just stay patient and don't decide you have to have any one car or truck. Be ready to walk away from any deal that is not good for you. Put the effort in and you will eventually find the right deal.

:)
