Time to move on if he won't accept a pay cut. Paying $16 million for 6 sacks would be insane.

No more paying players for what they did in the past.

Why don't some of you show some respect for a guy who gave you a decade of Hall of Fame play.

The erroneus tweet he sent earlier today than backtracked on isnt doing him any favors with fan popularity right now.

someone else mentioned this in another thread but htis is true

jerry will not cut ware because ware is the one (and only) thing that he can point to to prove that he is a football guy. the legend goes that jerry over-ruled parcells to pick ware. ware is his crowning achievement and will retire a cowboy

consequences to the team be damned

Great point, I could see Jerry more resolute on keeping Ware than Garrett even

That was me. It may or may not be true but I have a hard time believing Jerry flat out releases Ware. He is just going to push back his cap and further put this team in trouble a few years down the line.

Why would you want to be a millionaire future hall of famer?

Ware can still be effective if used correcly. He needs to be used on 3rd and long. He is not a every down player anymore unless he has been hurt all year. He needs a pay cut.

I agree, except he needs to take the great majority of snaps, otherwise he needs to be cut or traded. I hope he improves in the off season because I have always liked him.

Ware has been a class act and a great player, if there is a probability of him returning to former greatness then keep him,,, if he's going to play as poorly next year as he did this year then it's time for him to go or become a situational player with a lower price tag. There's no disrespect here, it's just business. They pushed Aikman into retirement because his body was breaking down, why not Ware?

Translation:

"I was going to take a pay cut thinking JG was going to get fired. If that idiot is still here and get paid for doing nothing , I can too."

If true, then Cya Ware. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Lmao! Ware isn't going anywhere. Jerry is too stupid to cut him. He's not about to get rid of those 94 jerseys. Ware will be rushing the passer in a wheelchair soon with that neck.

I still think they should try to trade Ware. He is owed ZERO guaranteed money and his accelerated cap hit would actually save the team 7.5m next year. He is owed huge base salaries per his contract, but teams need to spend to the cap floor starting next year and some teams have tons of cap dollars they need to spend. If he is done next year, that team could cut him with ZERO cap hit.

I don't blame him.... Not when you have a franchise that profited over $300 million in a single year.

Ware IS taking a pay cut. Whether the pay cut is with the Cowboys or another team is the only question in my opinion. He is scheduled to have a base of $12.25M for 2014. If the Cowboys cut him June 1st, he will sign with another team for a huge pay cut and probably a salary of $4M/yr. Quite a lot less than the $12M he was scheduled to get. The Cowboys might offer him around $4.5M - $5M/yr to stay with maybe some incentives.

John Abraham got a 3-year/$16.72 mil deal from ATL in '12 at the age of 34, and by then he was basically just used as a pass-rush specialist. Maybe that's a starting point for Ware who's 3 years younger and who can still play all downs.

Cut and use it on the following combination of players

DT Linval Joseph
DT Henry Melton
DE Michael Bennett
DE Jared Allen
S Donte Whitner
S Bernard Pollard

Consider a 2 yr deal if Hatcher can't find one elsewhere.

On top of acquiring at least 2 FA's listed above, draft on the Dline early. I like Whitner and Pollard because of their physical play and they would tandem well with Wilcox. Byrd will want more than we can afford. I can see him landing in Philly for some reason.

There is no right price for Spencer since he's coming off of major knee surgery. Let someone else over pay for him.
