Was Ben Johnson auditioning for this job next season?

Agreed,
Im sure MM will not be sad to leave a team with these cap problems .
The Cowboys aren’t a easy fix.

I don’t think coaching will change our cap problems.

We lack talent everywhere and we don’t have resources to improve.

This is what I was saying earlier.............Jerry is unlikely to hire an unproven assistant, hot shot or not.

I can’t see any young and upcoming coach wanting to come to Dallas to work under a meddling, obtrusive owner; who thrives on creating a circus atmosphere to ensure first and foremost that Dallas remains relevant with football being secondary.

People don't kid yourself......the Cowboys HC job will always be attractive. I know he didn't work out as a HC but remember what Urban Myers once said when he was the hottest candidate in the cycle. Very selective but if Jerry and the Cowboys call, you gotta listen, it's the Dallas Cowboys.

But we need to think of an assistant with HC experience or a former HC.

I can't see any young coach come here to ruin their future. Whoever comes in is immediately handicapped.

I suspect the Cowboys Head coaching record speaks volumes to coaches everywhere.

Outside Jimmy Johnson, what other Cowboy head coach has left this organization and went on to become head coach for another NFL team? Some take coordinator jobs, but none I remember got another head coaching position in the NFL

Wade Phillips became a head coach in the WFL and the coordinators do well.

No. Jerry will hire some retread that will keep the casual fan coming to the stadium and keep them spending money. Also good story lines for to keep us on SNF.

Let's put it this: Name a head coach Jerry wanted but couldn't hire because he didn't want to coach for Jerry/Cowboys. I'll wait ..........

Sean Payton(mic drop)

He WANTED to come here .........you said NO coach would want to work for Jerry. Nice try though.......you have another one cuz this isn't it.

AI Overview

Sean Payton has been linked to the Dallas Cowboys head coaching position multiple times, but he is currently the head coach of the Denver Broncos:

  • 2019: Payton was almost hired as the Cowboys' head coach, but the Saints were no longer interested in trading him.

  • 2022: Payton said he was open to coaching again, but not in 2022. He also said that he wanted to try something different and focus on working in media.

  • 2023-24: Payton is the head coach of the Denver Broncos.

Payton has a history with the Cowboys, having worked as an assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach from 2003–2005. He helped improve the Cowboys' passing offense and guided quarterbacks like Drew Bledsoe, Quincy Carter, and Vinny Testaverde to 3,000-yard passing seasons

No way in Hades is Ben Johnson gonna want to be a puppet to Jerry for his first HC job. He is not desperate, old, unemployed, and unwanted.. And have Dak as an additional anchor around his neck for the next four seasons.

And yes he was rubbing Jerry’s nose in his own crap as his birthday gift. Great sight to see.

Super post. Ben is a fresh, innovative mind and not the usual retread. He does not want to coach for a sinking ship headed by Al Davis 2.0

He doesn’t strike me as a guy who needs control in the front office though he will be the biggest name out there so he will have leverage….he sure put a lot out there….screen passes to tackles….sheesh.
Yeah, but he will never come here.

This isnt the place for players or coaches with ambitions in their sport. We have nothing to offer to lure them to us.

But we are still able to attract players who look for big money or coaches who dont get touched by the rest of the league anymore.

Agree. Johnson will be in Jacksonville as their next head coach. He want zero to do with the Jones.

I’m confused what you’re saying are you saying they will hire Moore or only hire Ben if Moore does well with Eagles?
I am saying Jerry would consider Moore because of his possible success and Philly plus the fact that the Joneses are comfortable with him. The Joneses never go out of their comfort zone. The only time in history they did that was 3 years with Parcells to get the stadium built.

He's auditioning, but not just for the Cowboys lol.

Johnson seems to be picky. He was an option last year for a few teams, but shut them down. Could of been the HC for Washington with Daniels if he wanted to.

I honestly see Jerry hiring Kellen Moore or someone the game has passed by. I won’t get my hopes up but Jerry can’t lie and says he wasn’t impressed by what he did to us.
jerry is the ultimate master spinner. I said in my other comments too, that he is not pandering to die hard fans. we aren't going anywhere.
he is pandering to the fringe and casual fans and they will buy into his spin.
