Dak was elite first half of 2021 until after patriots game. If we can get back to that Dak that’s a Super Bowl QB

He will never reach that legendary tier of QB's such as Peyton Manning, Brady, Montana, and Staubach. These guys made everyone around them better. They redefined their position. Were the cream of the crop. Rodgers is very close to this list. But he needs another SB.

I'd day he has zero shot at being better/as good as Burrow, Mahomes, Herbert, Allen, and Lamar. Lawrence is inching closer to joining this group. Mahomes and Allen are clearly the best QB's today. I'd be stunned if neither won the MVP.

For 2022 I'd rank QB's by how good they can be. How good they currently are. You can't judge everything on 6 games. The past and potential matter too.

Allen (Can definitely win a SB with him)

Mahomes (Can definitely win a SB with him)

Herbert (Can definitely win a SB with him)

Jackson (Can definitely win a SB with him)

Hurts (He is undefeated so for now he is here)

Burrow (Can definitely win a SB with him)

Brady (Not great thus far. But can turn it on at anytime). Can definitely win a SB with him

Rodgers (See Brady above). Can definitely win a SB with him.

Then a bunch of other QB's.

Sans an 85 Bears type D, I'm not certain anyone can be confident enough to say you can win a SB with: Cousins, Prescott, Hurts, Tue, and even Jimmy G. To me these are all good to very good QB's. I don't think these are QB's who will make receivers look better than they are. Or have the talent to win games without alot of help. Guys like Rodgers, Mahomes, Brady, Herbert, Allen, and even Burrow can do this imo.

Sorry for the ling post. In a nutshell, I believe Dallas can win a SB with Prescott. I just don't think he would be the big reason why.

No need to apologize...your points were detailed, but condensed.
Your post would fall under "Cliff Notes" category, compared to some of the novelettes a number of CZers put out.

People seem to have varying views of what elite is. I have always felt elite regardless of the sport is a person who performs at a high level year in and year out. Tiger Woods was elite, Michael Jordan was elite, Brady is elite and other athletes who produce like them I consider elite. To me it is not about 1 season here or there or a few games. I have seen athletes who have had great season but can't follow the same level of play up in other years.

Dak has been "pretty good", but not elite. He had a chance to prove the doubters wrong vs SF last year and we know how that went.

I can see a case for 2016. The record. Stats.

Even that year, Ryan, Rodgers, and Brady were better.

So it comes down to how elite is defined. If it's a top 5 QB in a given year, I suppose 2016 is indeed that year.

Agreed.

My definition of elite (term varies) is a guy who doesn't need to be surrounded by elite players to win. Obviously Rodgers, Mahomes (No Hill), and Brady really stand out. Peyton Manning made alot of average receivers rich too. He was his own OC in many ways.

I think an elite QB has tools that are very tough to game plan against. Rodgers is able to run and throw 60 yard darts perfectly. Brady has been considered one of the smartest QB's ever. He can move enough in the pocket to avoid the big mistake. His more than strong arm is strong enough to get it downfield. Mahomes has a cannon arm. Mobility. Unbelievable stats against the blitz. Meaning he can read a D at remarkable accuracy.

I think there needs to be at least two to three traits a QB excels at to be elite. Most times these physical traits ensure the organization doesn't have to build an offense to make everything easier for the QB.

Note: I am not just using six games sample sizes. Technically, Hurts is having a better 2022 season than Brady and Rodgers. Still...I would never take him in a playoff game over either of those guys.

Dak is an enigma.

Over the last half season he has played poorly.

But prior to that he was playing at a very high level. Possibly even elite.

He was the online betting favorite for league MVP halfway through last season before the wheels came off.

Dak is the only player in history to throw for 450 yards in 3 consecutive games. That is hard to do. I don’t know why he fell off so dramatically.

QB’s can go sour quickly. Just look at Wentz and Wilson.

Todays game you have to have an OLine.

People are dogging on Rogers this year saying hes fallen off. Just go watch that guys decisiveness on the field. Hes still has a cannon and understands the game at a TOP NOTCH level...but his OLine sucks.

With the cap and parity in the League...you have to good OLine play for your ELITE QB to make a difference, imo.

did they forget to to teach the new giys how to hold and get away with it because his lines has specialized in that department

Let me get ahead of the arguers trying to poor starter fluid on things by suggesting you arent ELITE if youre paid ELITE MONEY but cant win without an OLINE...

Whats the solution if you claim there isnt money for others because of QB market prices?

Rogers is good in your opinion or not? Or is he only good if he wins 3 more SB's. Does OLine factor into a QBs success or not in your opinion?

Oh hes most definately good.
HOF good and yes OLine does factor in to QB success without a doubt. My comment wasnt meant to derrogatory towards him. it was meant to say that yes his line is worse than ive seen it in sometime but his lines also get away with holds more than any other line ive seen and did they quit teaching that technique after mike left ?

Nothing more than that

I miss the days of Dak is better than Mahomes, Rodger, and any other quarterback playing or retired. Some great fans were downplaying Troy to prop up this thumbless gimp. smh, pissing in the wind, windy.

Oh wow...being locked to 2 or 3 years of cap squeeze because of Dak's contract. A guy that worked for you and played well for cheap for 4 years and now you want to cry about 2 years of cap squeeze for an above average QB in the NFL who doesnt turn ball over much?

I just think real GM's would laugh at some of these posts.

Based on your screen name, I'm guessing you don't know much about "real GMs"

Dak is elite in a lot of Categories but he isn't Elite. He's a high end good QB with potential to be Elite or Flashes. If Dak was more mobile he could be consistently elite. He's in the Romo/Ryan/Rivers tier in my opinion. Clearly very good but not elite.

He’s basically Matt Stafford.

Solid, above average QB that is not elite. Good enough to win it all but needs a good team and coach around him.

Top 10ish.

Dak is not now nor will he ever be elite. He's an above average QB. Furthermore, he becomes Mandrake the Magician and doesn' t his disappearing act in big games. I'm sorry. He just doesn't pack the gear!
