Was Dak Ever Considered Elite

Von Miller and Coop would be on the roster if it wasn't for ineptos contract...you know how much talent you can bring in with 50 million of cap cash???
If you think Stephen was going to spend 50 million on players not his own then you are more lost than I thought.

Exactly. Remember the Cowboys added two "ghost" years to Dak's deal where they can dump some of his money. And the salary cap is going up every year too. Dak's cap hit won't be anywhere near as high as it is on paper right now.
You can't tell them this though. They cried about his salary cap just for him to have the 8th highest paid contract at QB lol

As I’ve said before, there is always a constant re-writing of the narrative regarding Dak. After his putrid last half of the season last year, his biggest fans started flipping the script that they never declared him elite on this board. Without getting in particular posters on this site, among them folks who claimed he was better than Mahomes or Allen, the following article clearly establishes that people were actually challenging the general claim that Dak proved himself elite, meaning this was a common perception that needed to be addressed.

The numbers aren’t changing since this article has been written. Even without taking into consideration the win-loss record, Dak is horrible when it comes to TD/INT numbers against quality competition and the stakes are high. 2021 was actually a greater demonstration of this very fact that Dak is a garbage-time QB that is basically in the category of a Goff, though we haven’t seen Dak on a team anywhere near as bad as Detroit. Both of them were horrible on their later progressions and both of them were on good teams, beating up bad opponents.

You can’t claim it’s because of the ‘defense’ he loses.
I miss the @khiladi from the post below...I thought you'd finally gotten over your archaic Linehanism but it appears the fossils sickness is enduring...

After some self-introspection, I’ve realized that I’ve often times been harsh and abrasive to fellow members on the forum for their opinions and part of it was accompanied with a feeling of arrogance.

I wanted to apologize to all those members I was rude and abrasive too, particularly those who defend Dak and even Jerry and guys like Garrett. It is, in the end, football and we all share our love if the team.

This includes everybody who thinks to himself that he may be referring to me and if that is the case, it definitely refers to you. Again, my apologies for my rude behavior and often times condescending approach towards debating and plan on changing

This includes guys like @Streetwise and @OmerV especially. If you have any personal gripes please don’t hesitate to message me personally so I can apologize individually.

Are you excuses ready for the Lions game just in case Dak stinks it up again out there?
Rusty is probably your # 1 and then the thumb isn't healed 100% is your # 2.
Then you will start with the usual excuses....Kellen,Offline,Running game,we have no WR, same old same old.......

There's been games he's looked elite, but overall would categorize him as a very good, not great QB. We've been over this many times before in many different threads. Everyone of course wants one of the top 3 qbs in the league and that will keep you competitive for a long time. However, they're extremly hard to find and if you have a very good one you can build a team around then you keep them until they're not that anymore.

I know for dang sure that I've never said he was better than Mahomes or Allen. For me:

Rodgers
Mahomes
Brady
...

Anything after those 3 is questionable. Sometimes great, and sometimes bad. Those 3 are always making their team good/bad in the mix of competitive football. Outside of that are guys that are very good at their position, but can't carry. Lots of Romo haters here, but the dude never had a losing season unless he was hurt. He carried Dallas with a ton of awful OL's, and then a load of bad D's. He had one year where we hit 10 in defense, and he was still a baby.

Zeke and the O-line were elite that year.

Dak was pretty much below the middle of the pack in everything besides INTs and Passer Rating. Funnily enough, that is still the best version of Dak we've seen because that Dak knew his place and stayed in his lane.

Meh….the same could be said about Romo until we got a running game. Same things….check out of runs, changing the plays on and on. I loved Romo way more than Dak too. He was awesome. Having said all that this offensive scheme sucks and I’ve hated it for over a decade now. That’s the problem. Not the QB’s.

I like Lamar a lot. But I need you to explain what makes him elite and Dak "not even on the radar" considering they both have the same playoff record.
Jackson is a former MVP winner. His ability to run is enough to win games for you. And he's a decent enough passer to keep the defense honest. He'll snap out of whatever funk he's currently in.
He is in the MVP conversation almost ever year.
.
In Dak's seven years, has anyone ever mentioned him as a real MVP candidate?
The best thing you say about Dak is he may, or may not, be top 10 QB.

You don't think Josh Allen is top 3?

Dak was considered Elite *for a rookie QB* on a historic scale. But much like Zeke, 2016 was the highpoint of his perceived potential.

I guess I just don't see what significance that has in the grand scheme. The MVP is great for his personal accolades and he had a great season, but the Ravens lost in the Divisional round that season. I'm reading on this board constantly that Dak's numbers and stats don't mean anything unless he wins something. So while the MVP is a nice accomplishment, it ultimately puts him at the same place Dak currently is. Except, very soon, you're going to have to pay Lamar A LOT more.

In fact, this same pattern can be demonstrated very clearly in his last year in college. Dak didn’t beat a single ranked team outside a Missouri who was worse than them in ranking and that season he had his best statistical season, throwing for 29 TDs and only 5 INTs. Looking at the game-logs against ranked teams, it’s the same patter of garbage-time stats outside the win against Missouri, where he threw 4 TDs and they won 31-13. This was the typical game you see from Dak in Dallas when they get out to a quick lead early against a bad team and pour it on against a team that is imploding.

Against LSU, they were down 21-6 in the 4th and Dak gets a garbage time TD, with 4 minutes to go and the game ends.

Against Texas A&M, dude was getting blown out 30-10 in the 4th and he throws a TD to pad his stats and prior to this their only TD was on a 55 yard by the RV in the second.

Against Alabama it was 31-6, where Dak was 0/1 TD/INT ratio

And against Ole Miss, Ole Miss was blowing them out
31-3 to end the first half and Dak goes on his typical garbage time tear of 2 TDs throwing in the 4th quarter when down 38-13 with 13 minutes to go.

This is who Dak is…. The legend of Garbage-Time Stats
In simple terms the game becomes too big for Dak against playoff caliber teams. Always has and always will. He doesn't have the mental pedigree or physical tools to get the job done. But hey he might be a top 10 jersey seller.
