There was a built in protection for the Cowboys regarding Jones. If he was suspended we get back Tennessee's 5th round pick. So that pick wasn't wasted. We just rented a player for a year at the cost of a lower Draft pick.

Worth it? Debatable.

Did it damage the team? I know you and other Cowboys haters hope it did.

Much respect to Hos ...

: ...actually, I've always had the inclination that TO was going to be a controversial acquisition (e.g., his tantrums on the sidelines, lockerroom follies, etc), but the PACman acquisition didn't phase me one way or the other.

BTW ...you shouls know that I'm not a Cowboy hater. Th Cowboys aren't the reason we didn't win our first SB appearance (the Chargers), nor the second SB appearance (the Patriots).

Admittedly, the Cowboys aren't allies either!;)

...Pac Man Jones, Tank Johnson, and even TO (there's that buzz going around saying that TO is that 500 pound Gorilla on Romo's back).

According to Ed Werder of ESPN, the Cowboys traded their 2008 4th round pick for Jones. Is that true ..if so, what a waste of a perfectly good 4th round pick.

Gentlemen ...your comments.

I don’t have any issues with this post, i think it’s correct. This a damaged group of stars and those thugs/Me-Players hurt the group. Good luck in the playoffs, beat the Giants.

You're blaming the Chargers for the Raiders kicking your butt in your first Superbowl appearance?

We would rather talk about Lito Sheppard not even being a second string back up.

So was it worth it for the eagles not to trade him this past offseason because they wanted too much for him.

Gentlemen....Your comments.

Much respect to BrAinPaiNt ...

Lito is a bargaining chip that hasn't been played. Look for the continuing saga coming soon to a trade table near you.

I think that in 2009, Lito will wear a different uniform.

Don't come into a Cowboys forum, fire a shot and expect to be bullet proof. And don't tell me you weren't hoping it would get reactions. That's bull.

being a Moderator on another MB has taught me ...when a Moderator from an opponent fanbase say "don't tell me" etc ., ...I'm out of here with a quickness ...and that's no bull.

For the record: I don't believe I've ever shot you bull Hos; nor would I ever; but I don't have the same level of respect for everyone here as I have for you either. My comments were directed at some else. That said ...one thing being a Moderator on another MB has taught me

No, I'm suggesting that I'm not a Cowboys hater! I have more reason to be a Chargers or Patriots hater than a Cowboys haters.

Nothing more or less!

I really can't stand this guy because he's a fraud of a poster. Tries to pretend he's got a modicom of class while taking subtle jabs and making off the cuff remarks... but..

The Eagles didn't 'luck into the playoffs'. They beat the pulp out of a bunch of gutless chumps that just wanted to take their paycheck and go home.

There is a good fan. You'd think that it would be easy to remeber with only two appearances to pick from.

I did the math ...you may want to do the survey [is TO considered a Cowboys leader?]. I could be wrong, but I think many of the Zone fans here may not recognize TO as a legitimate Cowboys Leader.

Anybody that thinks TO is not the leader of this team is a moron.

Ummmm....Maybe I'm not reading the post right. But the Eagles' first Super Bowl loss was to the Jim Plunkett-led Raiders.....Not the Chargers.

I love how Mr. Blue Suit conveniently forgets that the Cowboys get a 5th rounder because Pacman was suspended. So they basically paid Pacman chump change, traded a 4th rounder for a 5th rounder, and then cut him with no real cap implications after one year.

Mr. Blue Suit's vendetta is so obvious Stevie Wonder could see it.

Owens is a better, more vocal leader than Romo.

If the gorilla on Romo's back is his inability to win "the big game," the criticism of his post-game comments with his "oh well" attitude and his seeming lack of fire and leadership...then the "buzz" is right.

Look, the guy wasn't born yet when the Eagles lost to the Raiders after the 1980 season. He's only 12, cut him some slack!

No it wasn't worth it to bring in Pac Man. I'm not so sure about the other 2 as they had more contributions than the Pac Man. Pac Man was a total disaster. We didn't need him and he subtracted more than he added to the team. Our best run this season was when he was out. Our young corners played pretty good in his absence. We should've never let him back in. Don't know if its fair or not on him but he brought in more baggage than it was worth. So to answer the original question NO on Pac Man. Don't know about Tank since he pretty much behaved in his time here except for the "Hey, I'm a free agent" comment after the Eagles loss. The jury is still out on TO whether he was worth it and we probably have another season to crucify Jerry on that one.

I didn't understand it, either.

Torrin Tucker probably did.

who can forget Kenny King streaking down the sidelines for a TD catch & run. A thing of beauty.

We lost nothing for bringing Tank at the vet minimum. It was worth a shot. Did it work out productively in the end? no. the "BEAST" sucked and was lockerroom trouble. i'm glad he's gone.

Pacman and a 5th rounder for our 4th rounder. it was worth it IMO. We had depth issues at CB. Newman was hurt last year, henry is always hurt and even though it was before the draft when we got him, we had two rookies (1st round/5th round) that we weren't sure how quickly they would adjust. pacman was horrible on PR but was decent at CB IMO. seeing how the rookies came along, i'm glad he's gone because he isn't a fast learner of his own mistakes.

TO...i wasn't a fan of his coming here. since then i've learned that a lot is blown out of proportion but he should just pull a Moss and ignore the media instead of saying stuff that will get twisted or exaggerated. The guy is a great WR and works hard. he has his flaws but when we signed him, it was a deal where we could cut him at any time without impacting the cap. it was worth it but i am tiring or his antics. if we don't make a major push next year deep into the playoffs, i'll be ready to part ways.

all in all, each of these deals was low risk for the team (either gave up minimal or nothing and contracts structured to be able to cut immediately if necessary) for a high risk high reward type player.

Sorry dude but you ruin your own point when you claim you have more reason to hate the Chargers for your first Superbowl loss when they weren't there. The Raiders kicked your tail, not the Chargers.
