I'm glad someone brought this play up. I haven't rewatched the game but didn't the ref's basically hold the ball for like 45 seconds or so AFTER we got in formation??
I mean, whether the play was good or bad part of the reason you do something like this is to put the other team in quick reaction mode and hope that the confusion you have created helps the play be successful.
To allow them free time to assess the situation took away a big part of the advantage you might have gained.
Anyone know what the delay was all about?
SF saw the odd formation and called timeout, to decide how to play it.
So the cowboys should then have went to something else , as this play would only work if they got it off quickly.
But the cowboys were not prepared for SF calling a TO so they just ran it anyway.
The play was awful anyway, who was turpin supposed to lateral to??
Should someone be right with turpin to block the guy who nailed him?
Why did the cowboys at top of screen just do nothing??
The play made no sense at all.
here is a video about this play and all the time wasted when they punted on previous poss.
