Was the number one problem on the D addressed?

Not really! You look at the general outlook of this message board and it’s pretty negative.

Misery isn’t an insult, it’s actually a condition/emotion that people deal with. Simply means unhappy!

You would’ve had a point if I would’ve called people morons, idiots etc..
That’s typical of social media and fan forums especially for a franchise with our history this era and it’s dysfunctional leadership.

Calling a fan unhappy or miserable isn’t arguing his football points.

Booger's "war daddy" is not a DT unless he's Donald.

He has always leaned toward the pass rushing DE's and passing offense because that is more exciting to watch and it is. Stuff the run doesn't get too many people excited but a sack, oh my.

It is all about scoring and more TDs are scored and given up through air than on the ground. He doesn't see where a good run D could help his offense and QB.
And since stopping the run is paramount to winning a super bowl, it's obvious that the super bowl is not his primary goal.

There is still time to pickup a run stopping 1T in FA. And, they may have drafted run stopping help already, so let's not give up yet

There is a fundamental flaw with our GM that kills us every year. He believes his own sales pitch and thinks if he drafts them or signs them, they are automatically really good.

What’s even worse- He believes going into every season the best of best case scenarios. The GMs winning SBs are the ones who have a critical eye of their own work and assume nothing will go as planned. In short, the best GMs don’t believe the sales pitch given to their fans each year. In Big D, our GM 100% believes his own sales pitch. Thus the last 26 seasons and counting.

Oh….And it doesn’t appear that this team addressed its lack of run stopping ability in this draft. Time will tell.
I have already seen fans that thinks these draft picks are plug and play starters. If two of these drafted players turns into full time starters, the Cowboys will be lucky. If one or two more makes contributions on special teams, it will be a good draft.

How often do you see the term "26 or 27 years"? That depends on when the Time of Misery began for some.

Lost in all of that are some very good seasons sprinkled in there but there was no ring and to some the ring is the thing, the only thing.

There is a negative vibe and lean to these forums as has been pointed out by many long time members.

There is also the hangover of that playoff loss, which seems to have negatively impacted some more than any other playoff loss. They need some time to work though that and something more positive than this off season so far. On the plus side, the draft was a hell of a lot better than free agency so things are looking up.

Still have holes and we need to address the elephant in the room - Easy E is not a starting caliber RB in the NFL anymore. Worst part is they will probably let him waste another season here and then overdraft the position in the 1st round next year.

Rams used A'Shawn Robinson, and he was instrumental in the super bowl win. During the game, the commentators commented that the Rams were terrible against the run unless he was playing. Ashawn at DE(3-4) and Greg Gaines at NT were the hosses that freed up Donald to make plays.

Here is some food for thought . Every single one of these guys were on the field when SF ran all over us for a 170 yards and a 5th round rookie will stop them?

might be a good idea to wake up
These player flash. When you know it’s coming because it has te whole game it’s easy for a player to make the play. It’s when the game starts and it’s the first quarter and you dont know what is coming. We saw what happened in the first quarter of the playoff game. First was a problem by Quinn. He gave there qb way to much respect. Look at how we treated washingtons qb when they were on a roll and we played them. We went after him. Stuffed the run on the way to the qb. We should have and needed to play them the same way. We brought it at one point and Brown got a pick.. We could have dominated that game..

But he does see how our rushing game helps offense and QB while masking our defense weaknesses.

So it’s possible he sees it but it falls down lower on the priority chart as you laid out.

Because he's paying Elliott like a top 5 RB. He's not going to flush that cash down the toilet until he feels backed into a corner.

3Ts are slashers who stop the run on the way to the QB. 1Ts are run stoppers who clog the middle and usually don't get sacks but force double-teams.
Ok. But why do teams choose between them ? And are there more IT and 3T?

Why would they force double teams if they aren’t pressuring the QB?

Bingo.. though I should remind folks that Quinton Bohanna is still on the roster as well .. or is he? I mean that dude is the quintessential 350 pound 1 tech. They just need to get him to play with better leverage and not rely on just trying to bully people with his size. They've got all offseason to address that with him and if they get that done he will clog up the middle better than anybody we've had probably since Marcus Spears maybe? The other thing is that I'm sure most folks noticed that Gallimore came back visibly thicker from his injury. I don't know if it was fat or muscle but he could grow into that force at 1 tech as well. Pair him with whoever plays better between Hill and Osa and I think we're in good shape. Hill another year removed from the ACL surgery and Osa with just a full offseason program under his belt bodes well for that DT rotation IMHO. The big kid from Arkansas is just another addition to the mix.

Good stuff.

And 1 techs are invaluable when they collapse the pocket and make some plays. It's not an accident that Cincy was 5th vs the run w/ monstrous playmaking NT Reader in the middle. They don't make the super bowl w/o him.

Incidentally, the Rams were 6th. It's almost impossible to get to the super bowl if you can't stop the run.

Year before, TB was 1st. Year before NE was 6th.

To win a super bowl, you must have some big hosses up front on D, guys who can anchor and shut down the middle. Makes everything work on D.
