Was there a team or fanbase utterly crushed by us taking Elliott?

Gurley is the better RB. Gurley is that special kind of RB like AP or Lynch. Zeke is good but not on the same level. Fournette and Cook coming out next year could potentially be on the AP level as well. I hope Zeke proves me wrong. Although I do think he is going to be VERY good. But just not God like good

No offense but I think you're flat wrong. Fournette is absolutely not a better prospect, Gurley is not a better RB -- some of you get so enamored with a height-weight-speed thing and think that's all there is to being a great running back. If that were the case, Brandon Jacobs would be the greatest running back of all time. Heck, even Henry would be considered a better prospect than Elliott based on measurables...but he's not. Not even close.

You often here how there was that one team/fan base that is literally crushed that they missed out on that one elite player.

We took arguably the best RB since Adrian Peterson to run behind our mammoth O-line. You gotta admit, it was not only a sexy pick, but a homerun. Colin Cowherd even said as much.

So, besides the Ravens who were wanting to move up to grab him, was there anyone else praying to the football gods that he'd be there and are now weeping and curled into a fetal position?

Just a lot of our own fans.

I'm guessing any and everyone who has a bad run defense was not exactly pleased that we drafted the best back in the draft to go behind the run blocking O-line we've got.

I bet if you Ask GM's across the league on their opinion on us drafting Zeke. Pitt, Car, GB, NE, Seattle, Den would say typical Cowboys. Sizzle over substance..

Read the reports. Gurley's bottom line comes down to his injury history....which effected his grade.

When healthy they were viewed as different type prospects. People were putting Gurley in the AD tier. People have explicitly not put Zeke there.

I don't agree and I think you are basing that on your feelings for the player.

Well, I can't speak for him..... But barring the injury, I think Gurley was closer to Peterson as a prospect than Elliot.

And I have no agenda. I like Elliott and am fine with him as the pick.

I think Gurley is a better pure runner ..... but I think Zeke is a better Football player.

All around.

No it doesn't add up.

If the Ravens were hot and bothered to get Elliott and pretty much everyone knew we were going Elliott at 4 given how it started to leak before San Diego even picked, they would have made a move for San Diego's pick. But they didn't. Why? Because they didn't want Elliott. They wanted Ramsey and figured we might be willing to move because we could still get Elliott at 6 and the Ravens could box Jax out at 5 who wanted Ramsey.

Again, if the Ravens wanted Elliott so badly and they knew we wanted him so badly, why not talk with San Diego?

How do you know they didn't talk to the Chargers? The report before the draft is that teams were calling the Chargers to move up. Maybe the Chargers were settled on Bosa.

That is what we will find out soon. Numbers about the same Gurly 6'1" 222 40 time DNP but in college was clocked in the 4.4 range. Elliott 6'01" 225 4.48 both guys have the ability to run with power and speed. If he stays healthy I think Elliott has a chance to be the top RB in the league behind this Cowboys OL. Time will tell.

I want to thank the Rams and Eagles for giving the Cowboys the opportunity to choose between Tunsil, Ramsey and Elliott
