TD was my favorite player while I was a kid in Pittsburgh. When he became a Cowboy, I became a Cowboy fan. And I've been a Cowboy fan ever since. If Seattle kept the top pick that year, I wonder if I would have become a Seahawk fan. I'm sure I would have found some other reason to be a Cowboy fan at some time later.

Same here, ninja.

I grew up in Washington, D.C.-Maryland and was a die-hard Reskins fans.

And then the Cowboys drafted Tony Dorsett. And I've been a Cowboys fan since. :D

My favorite running back of all time.

Touch Down... Tony D!... I remember watching his "untouched" long TD runs as a kid through NFL films. Prettiest runner ever.

Short answer, no.

But Sarge is right about Dickerson... My favorite non-Cowboy ever.

Earl Campell wasn't smooth?

The Tyler Rose is my favorite player of all time. I pretty much worship all things Earl Campbell but he was not what I would call a smooth runner. Earl was a man. He would get it done by beating you to the corner if he had to but he was just as happy to get it done going right throw you. In fact, probably more so. When Earl played, defensive players from apposing teams had a funny way of crowding the training room that week. Just seemed like lots of guys came down injured or sick. Power, speed, agility, physical, heart. All those things come to mind when I think of Earl Campbell but smooth, I probably wouldn't associate that with him.

I was just watching a few clips of him on NFL Channel and honestly, he's just the smoothest, prettiest runner I've ever seen. He just glides.

Well said.

Loved Smith but there's just something about your childhood favorites that always last.

Dorsett will always be my personal favorite.

I grew up watching him at Pitt and loved him as a Cowboy.

He was so smooth he just made it look effortless.

One of my favorite highlites of him is when they show him against the Cardinals and he's going for the goaline and suddenly stops spins reverses field and runs to the corner endline as two or three Cardinal players smack into each other where he was supposed to be.

Beautiful.

I also when to his Hall of Fame induction in 1994...when he and Randy White were inducted...and Tom Landry was his presenter.

Wonderful.

TD was smooth. Sayers was smooth but not quite as much....maybe some of his moves make him look less 'smooth'. OJ was smooth. Dickerson as well. They all have enough speed you just take bad angles. It takes awhile to adjust to the speed. Dorsett could accelerate better than any of the others. Just a tad bit quicker changing speeds and turning the hips. Probably because he was smaller.
