My Dad was a fan, but my Mom was a super Cowboys fan. I was born in 1960 and thus, born a Cowboys fan.

Once the Cowboys established a team in Dallas he was. And influenced me greatly. It wasn’t difficult being a local fan.

But before Dallas had a team, Dad was in the Navy after graduating Baylor and became an officer in Annapolis, MD. And he was a Unitas and Baltimore fan.

His Navy connection also influenced his support of Staubach who we met in his Rookie season,
Similar story here, moved to Dallas in 69 (I was age 4), Dad having previously notched a masters in music at Baylor. Now we live in Skins territory. Whole family is die hard Cowboy, and always will be.

So my dad was a giant fan but I remember watching the Giants play the Cowboys in 1962-63 and I liked the team with the star. My son became a Cowboy fan because of me. Your story?
Heck no., my dad was a big Mexican soccer fan of las Chivas de Guadalajara. Rabid fans. Hated American football. I just watched them as a kid and liked Tom Landry, Mission TX native. Became a big Cowboy fan since then.

My dad was a Cowboys fan from day 1 of the franchise. He attended games at the Cotton Bowl. my parents had me in Cowboys gear before I was old enough to walk.
He was a huge Longhorns fan as well.

You know there’s a lot of aging fans on here when the question is “was” your dad a Cowboy fan?

My dad was a Vikings fan who loved Dave Osborn, because he too was from North Dakota....he hated John Madden because of his long "straggly" hair.

My father because a Saints fan from the moment the New Orleans franchise was created. My only regret is that he died unexpectedly just over a decade before the Saints won their first and only Super Bowl. I have always imagined just how big of a smile that would have permanently put on his face.

"WHO DAT?!" :starspin:

I don't believe my father followed sports that much BUT we grew up in New York /New Jersey area though until I was 10 years old. Thats when we came to Texas and I got to tell you when I instantly became a Dallas cowboy fan, I was playing sports and just somehow I was attracted to the Dallas Cowboys.

so it's their fault since they moved to Texas and my cousins and my family from up east & the northeast we're pretty irritated when they see all my posts about the Cowboys on Facebook lol especially when you're anti New York Giants it didn't go over too well.. Although we've gotten the better end of that as cowboy fans the giants haven't been much for a really long time they've gone quiet over there for now.

My Dad was a sports fan. Always a sporting event on tv. But he really never shown any major enthusiasm for 1 team or another.

Growing up I didn’t have any ‘die hard’ type fans of any sports team in my family. Certainly nothing close to me with the Cowboys today!

We had a neighbor in the 70s who said he went to camp for the Cowboys. We didn’t believe him, but he had the helmet, jersey and pants and seeing that up close sealed the deal for me. Holding the helmet was magical compared to just seeing it on TV. The switch definitely flipped at that moment.

Parent was a diehard Johnny Unitas fan and thusly of the Baltimore Colts. Living in Texas he was the odd man out in our family. Dallas became my team after the Colts made that kick and beat the Cowboys in the SB. Never looked back.

My dad is a huge steelers fan. I started watching football in 2005, and for some reason I just loved the Cowboys, plus the have a lot of history and I lived close to Texas.

I was born and raised in Little Rock, as was my Dad. If you were raised in a state like that, the Hogs become your everything, college and pro. It is ingrained in me.

My folks moved to Dallas in 78 and he became a Cowboys fan and my Mom was until "that ugly toad" bought the Cowboys and fired such a fine gentleman.

Little Rock was a St. Louis market until the Cowboys came along and they began sharing and I shared my allegiance as well. They were my co-favorite teams until the Ice Bowl and I watched those guys battle on that field against all odds, few gave them a chance in those conditions but they won the heart of this fan that day and I never looked back. I was all in on the Cowboys.

And that is why I am not a SB or bust fan and they don't even have to win to keep me. They earned my fanhood in a heartbreaking loss and all that I ever asked was to leave nothing in the locker room, bring it all out on the field and for the very large part, they have done that.

I wish I was as passionate a fan as I used to be but I am not. I just sit and watch them play with little emotion.

My dad is a huge cricket fan and does not understand football. I learnt football watching Alabama since I want to school there. All my friends were Dallas fans and that is how I became a Dallas fan about 30 years back.

No. He is a Giants fan and became more of a Giants fan when Tom Coughlin became coach. My dad and mom went to college with Tom’s wife and Tom would stay with my dad when he would visit. They are still friends. Email every now and then but they mostly talk about their kids and grandkids.

No, first (American) football Fan in the family. Hopefully my two sons (3 years and 4 months old) will enjoy the sport as much as me. Wouldn't even care if they followed another team unless it's the Niners, lol.
