 If they get Cutler, they are a NFC East contender, which makes them a SB contender. If you have to give up 2 firsts and a third for a QB that is only 25 years old and one of the best in the league, I'd say do it.

Its funny how people think we are light years ahead of them when we only finished 1 game better than them last year.

Cutler is one of only 4 present QBs to throw for 8000 yards and 40+ TDs the last 2 years...Brees, Manning, and Warner are the other 3. He is a game changer.

He is also still on his rookie contract, which doesn't end until 2012. Which pays him 48 million over 6 years.

Dude, he wont play on that rookie contract in washington. This whole thing has been about him getting paid again. THey will tear that up the minute the deal is done and give him a brand new huge deal I would imagine, otherwise he wouldnt be leaving.

You seem to know very little about your biggest rival, and about football in general. So I'm not surprised you know very little about them.

Nice of you to ignore the rest of my post.

This post is pure genious. I cant even begin to imagine why you're not a moderator here.

You forgot our top-tier, pro bowl TE by the way.

who you may have to part with

BnGFever said:
Our front seven is not that old. Carter (29), Haynesworth (27), Macintosh (26) are under 30.

it's not that good either, in regards to pressuring the QB

BnGFever said:
I'll give you daniels as being over the hill, and london fletcher, while being 33, still flies all over the field and is a playmaker. And, I didnt know our d-line still couldnt get pressure, even with haynesworth. Can I borrow your crystal ball so I too can see into the future?

not getting into the future stuff either

BnGFever said:
Springs might have been our best corner...had he actually played in more than 25% of the season. He was injured constantly. Smooth, Rodgers, and Hall played very well when he was out. We have a very young and talented secondary, with smoot (29) being the oldest. Our defense was #6 in the NFL with practically zero pass rush. Just imagine what we could do if haynesworth makes an impact.

you better be careful with Hall, he's a big play the opposite way ready to happen, you kind of had him protected by the scheme and opponents not having alot of gamefilm of him as a Commander, and Smoot is one roast away from being a crispy chicken, those 2 like to take chances

BnGFever said:
We do have concerns on the O-line, particularly at RT, and we need an OLB to fill marcus washington's spot. This isnt something that we can fix in one draft anyway. Dont forget, a QB with good pocket presence, a quick release, and athleticism like Cutler can make an average O-line look good.

that's going to be hard going up against a 3-4 team that can get pressure up the middle with OLBs coming off the edge

then you have the blitzing Eagles and the Giant's improved rotation + Osi Umenyiora

BnGFever said:
Dont forget, despite our "aging and blow average" offensive line, portis was only a few yards shy of a 1,500 yard season, despite having absolutely zero in the way of a passing attack. With cutler, the skins aren't an 8-8 team, they are, at least, a playoff caliber team.

like the Broncos were with Jay Cutler, right?

He accomplished all those stats in the AFC West. San Diego was their only competition. Lets let him play a few NFC East division games before we anoint him...

Instant Superbowl contender, c'mon now

I agree with BDC.

2008 Defense
#3 Philly
#4 Wash
#5 NYG
#8 Dallas

#25 San Diego
#27 Oakland
#29 Denver
#31 KC

If he does go to Washington, I don't think he is going to be able to duplicate those stats...

Am I completely off base calling Carter and Mcintosh garbage? Haynesworth takes plays off and all you gotta do is double team him..god knows Carter won't do much.

Seriously though it's Fletch at MLB..who else is there? Fletcher is a chili dog away from 300 pounds and one month away from collecting social security..

Hall is a JAG who was exposed in Oakland..he's them most overrated corner in the NFL beind Antonio Cromartie.

He might not duplicate those stats, but he will give Commanders advantage vs those 4 AFC West teams our division plays this year.

Culter is a definite upgrade. Campbell is that bad.. I just hope they give up 2 first rounders and a 2nd rounder + a new contract that he wants if they get him.

I would agree with that if we weren't talking about the AFC West. Sure he can give some advantage having played them, however; Denver split every team in their division, and should have been swept by San Diego last year.

I just don't think you can compare that division with the NFC East where it seems every year 1 of 4 teams has a chance to make it to the NFC Championship if not the Superbowl. Yes I realize that includes the Commanders, but I don't think Cutler legitimizes their passing game. Campbell was sacked 38 times. Cutler 12, that number changes in a different division, especially one where sacks aren't a bonus but expected. I don't think we can argue whom is more athletic, according to their rushing stats they are fairly even in that category(Although Campbell has the advantage).

Anyway, let them have him, my office mate is a huge Denver fan, and a huge Cutler fan. I'd love nothing more than to rib him every Monday for how many sacks / fumbles he has every weekend. :D

Geez, going to the Commanders is just throwing your career in the toilet.

The team that should go hard after him should be the Vikes. Forget Jackson and Rosenfeld.

Add Cutler and with AP, they could really open up that offense.

Agreed. Imagine what Peterson would do when he doesn't have to face 8-9 guys in the box.

That team would scare the hell out of me.

OH NOW everyone wants to bust on Cutler and say he sucks because the Skins want him.

If you think Cutler sucks than you just haven't been paying attention.

He is going to be bigtime. I hope he stays out of the NFC East and the NFC for that matter.

Talent of the bronco's far exceeds the talent of the Commanders

The only problem with Cutler is his chronic health condition of http://i203.***BLOCKED***/albums/aa162/jrumann59/message%20board%20avatars%20and%20sig%20pics/diabeetus.jpgand if he doesn't watch it he will be a shell of his normal self. If it is true he has been drinking that is one of the worst things he can do with that condition.

You guys are being way to big of homers right now. Washington has a really solid football team and all they were really missing was a Quarterback. Cutler is alot better then Cambell and would make the NFC East pretty much a toss up next year...

Who else is there? uh, the very same players that led us to a 4 or 6 ranked defense last year. If you don't know the names of those players, that says more about you than them. Also, Fletcher is a small linebacker - I don't know where you're getting your info.

We lost Springs, Washington and Jason Taylor, none of whom contributed to our defense in a meaningful or lasting way.

All that being said, I really, really hope we don't acquire Cutler. I just don't think I could bear another of Snyder's moves.
