The Washington Commanders may be looking to help their rookie coach Jim Zorn, as they are interested in pursuing a trade for disgruntled Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Johnson, according to the Washington Post.

The report said that Commanders owner Daniel Snyder was eager to add a top-notch receiver to his roster, and had Johnson at the top of his list. It also said that Johnson, according to two league sources, was "eager to land a hefty new contract from Washington."

The Bengals have said they do not want to trade Johnson, but the receiver's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is said to be working behind the scenes to facilitate a trade, the Post reported

Johnson is a talented reciever who has caught no fewer than 87 passes over each of the last five seasons. But he has also clashed with coaches and rubbed some people the wrong way with his gamesmanship."He made it very clear that (Johnson) was his top choice," one coaching candidate told the Post.

The Post, citing the insight of two unnamed NFL general managers, speculated that it would likely take a low first-round pick and a third-round pick, or perhaps two second-round picks, to acquire Johnson.
Make a move Jerruh.

As long as we make a move for some stud receiver, I'm cool. Just don't sit back, stay the same, and pray that one of your low first rounders turn out to be something in their first couple of years.

What the Commanders really need is a DE who can get pressure on the QB, IMO.

C Johnson would be nice, but maybe more of a luxury at this stage for them. Between Portis, Cooley, and Moss, they could probably get a tier II WR in FA and have some success on offense, depending on QB play.

Let the Commanders have this headache.
And let the Commanders light us up for 300+ yards every time we play them?? It's amazing Cowboy fans, most of which who vouch for T.O., can look at a guy like Johnson as a plague. Did some people forget who our #81 is?? Better yet, did yall forget that if they switched places, they'd be carrying themselves the exact same way. Let's not fool ourselves into thinking if this team goes 5-11 next year, Owens is gonna be all smiles and about team.

I was not a TO fan prior to his signing, but he has matured quite a bit since being here. Chad Johnson from what I have read has not quite "got it" yet.

They have to get under the cap before they can do that.
No small task. I suspect we will see a Miami type of mass cutting of dead weight soon.

Yep, sounds about right:rolleyes:

A perfect fit too, let him go there. Anywhere but Dallas.

snyder just follows Jerry's moves to a tee except he will give up a draft pick for him and then a ton of money.

Good for them. Get me two CB's this offseason that can play immediately and I could care less what the Maroon, Black and Yellow does at WR. Or any team for that matter.
