Washington would be foolish to try and win

Nah. The HC will want to win, the players would want to win. It’s the Cowboys. Only the fans want that top 3 pick, and the owners/GM; but they aren’t playing.

Look how many college players skipped meaningless bowl games. Business decisions. Those college players who bailed made the right decision.

Money talks. A top QB or WR Harrison Jr, would sell a whole lot of tickets and put butts in seats.

They are 4/12. Losing could give them top 3 pick. Win and they could go to 7th? If I’m coaching them I’m resting starters and ensuring a loss. Issue might be that coach is gonna be fired and he has nothing to lose.
Not if they want to keep their jobs as players

You could say the same about Arizona who's also 4-12, yet they just beat Philly.
No you can’t. Their coach is not getting fired and QB is under contract. They are building for the future again. They’re 4-12 but have been competitive in most games, even beat some playoff teams as we are well aware.

So they don't care about the draft order because their coach isn't getting fired?

There may not be a greater example of self-conjecture projected from professional sports team fans than tanking. That said, @baltcowboy posted the best pre-assumption, of the Washington's front office intentions, will be certain players' non-participation in the game. Ron Rivera will most likely not bench healthy players and/or have them dressed out in street clothes unless he had been directed to do so.

Tanking is one of the top fan proclamations posted here every single year, about either this franchise or other franchises. We will all see what actually does happen in reality yet again.

Washington is not going to lay down for the Cowboys. They didn't last year and they won't this year. Dallas has to go out and win this game and prove they can win on the road and on grass.

The division title is up for grabs. The Cowboys should not have to worry who plays for Washington or how they play. If they don't go out there spitting fire and determined to win the division, then they don't deserve to be the division winners. If they can't beat a 4-12 team when the division crown is at stake, then they may as well pack their bags and go home for the season.

Well said.

If Ron was in his second year, then I would agree with them tanking this game. Like Lovie Smith last year, they will go all out to win this game which is probably the last game he will ever be a head coach in this league.

Now if we hear Jake Fromm is getting the start later in the week, I will admit im wrong but Ron isnt going to be there so why should he care to see Jake Fromm play

And the Cowboys got Aikman and the Packers got Mandrich. Which was the better business decision for the players and the team?

Yes, don’t take anything for granted, but Washington players (those planning to be there next year) would be idiots to try to win on Sunday.
That is not at all how NFL teams think. The players do not care about draft picks. Look no further than AZ vs Philly yesterday. It was absolutely moronic for AZ to win that game. But players don’t care. They want to play well and win.

Any player that hopes to be there next year, or another team for that matter, will play their best. Initially at least. That’ll change once that initial emotion fades if Dallas doesn’t give them a reason believe.

Dallas must go out and take control early and don’t let off.

Correct. That’s why they’re players and we’re fans. Certainly there are some that will be bordering on mailing it in, but very, very few. Those probably won’t be in the league much linger.

No not really. Their team is intact for next year other than a few departures and incoming FA talent. They will take BPA accordingimg to their needs wherever they draft. What I am saying is they are not in complete rebuild like the Commodes. There is reason the Commodes had a fire sale at trade deadline.

It’s Washington Dallas. There is no laying down…….but there will be a beatdown.

Cards were in the same position yesterday and played with great intensity. I bet WASH plays hard next week unless we steam roll them early.

I expect to see “Ron Rivera’s Last Stand” with an all out effort for 60 minutes. Complete with trick plays, fake punts, etc. The Cowboys must prepare for this game as if were the first playoff game of the year. I will be very surprised if Wash isn’t going all out to win.
That's exactly it. Washington can't win the division, or even get a playoff spot, but they can stop us from winning the division. That would a a big feather in their cap. But I suspect McCarthy knows this and will put together a top-notch game plan.

Green Bay just made the wrong choice. They could have drafted Barry Sanders or Deion in 1989.

Also everyone plays Dallas hard. I expect Washington to fight tooth and nail.

What worries me is same situation as last year.

Inconsitent QB play all season and then the enter a new QB in the final game and he injects life into them.

Brissett has balled out in every game he has came into. He is capable and can play well

A couple of days ago I thought that this was going to rest the starters bowl thinking that the Cowboys had no shot at the two seed but now it's game on!
