Watch this be the year that we win it all

Haha.

Every other year for the past several years, we Cowboys fans have been filled with hope because our roster has been fairly stocked with talent.

And every year, we end up being mediocre because of a combination of injuries, bad coaching and finding the most absurd way to lose games.

The way the NFL is today, where cellar dwellers become division champs overnight and #6 seeds advance to the Super Bowl, watch this year be the one the Cowboys finally get some luck and health bounce their way and these young players that none of us have any faith in start finding ways to win close games instead of lose them in the most ridiculous of ways.

Just saying... It could happen. Is it likely? No. But it's possible. Anything in today's NFL is. And even though a lot of fans have already thrown in the towel on this season, my silver and blue tinted sunglasses won't allow that to happen.

Once that first ball is kicked off in early September, no matter what no name defensive tackle is lined up next to whichever no name defensive end, I'm gonna believe my Cowboys have a shot at taking it all this year.

And this is the reason JJ is a brilliant ringmaster. This is the reason "the show" never ends. The reason His Koolaid works...

Most everything is possible, not everything is probable.

I don't think Jones plays a part in why fans feel one way or the other. Yes Fans like to think there team has a chance there is no news in that nor does Jones talking play a part in it. Even EmmittNRoy says the odds are not likely. No one is drinkng anything they are being fans and holding out hope.

Most of us on this board have been Cowboy fans since the time we could walk. Nobody on this board "hates the team".

With that being said, being a fan of the team also does not require you to leave your common sense at the login screen. Most of us realize we have a head coach that is probably the worst head coach in the league in terms of game management. Why do we believe this? Maybe because each of us have watched every single game (I have not missed one game since 1988) and we have seen Garrett botch games no other coach has ever botched. So based on past experience, safe to say Garrett is going to both his usual 2 or 3 games this coming year.

Next is the talent level. We have the worst defense in the entire NFL and we just let Ware and Hatcher walk out the door. Regardless of if it was the right decision or not, those two guys accounted for over 52% of our sacks last year. You don't just plug in a couple of rookies and expect them to tandem for 20 sacks, that is ridiculous. That is why so many folks are hoping we can sign Melton an Allen, or at least one of them.

Even Spags said on Talking Cowboys that right now there is absolutely no reason to think this team should be any better than 500 next season............none.........and that is Mr. Happy, company man, always positive, if they are so good why are they available, Mikey Spagnola.

If he is saying there is zero chance right now to win the SB next year, how the hell do you think most fans feel?

Yeah and I can't stand Garrett as much as the next guy and yeah I'm not saying there is even a 1/100 chance they do win I just look at it as why would so many people waste any time at all if you KNOW there is no shot? Not even the tiniest of ones. If you could see the future and were told today that the Cowboys would lose every game next year would you still tune in to watch them lose? Why? I mean I tune in every week and get just as pissed watching Garrett throw away games and I'm sure not confident most weeks but that's not saying they won't win. We went 8-8 with the worst D in the league. How many games do they win I they even have the 20th defense?

By the time September gets here even I will have sipped the Kool Aid. That's my point, call it what you want but JJ is great at doing just that.

i think the odds are long but it's not out of the question for it to happen. I think too many things would have to fall in place but each year teams come out of nowhere. Sometimes it's one or two key players and they can not even start early on.

And don't indirectly call people dumb please.

I didn't... You might want to post that to @casmith07

It's extremely unlikely that we win the Super Bowl this year, less likely than in many other years. Is it possible? Sure. Then again it's possible that the Raiders win it.

I'm just saying what Jerry says does not sway my view. Offensively I think we have the weapons if the OL holds up. Defensively right now it is a mess, maybe once FA is over and the draft if over things will look better but as it stands today if this unit is middle of the pack I will be fairly happy with that. In terms of SB? not even thinking of it right now but would love to see us with the NFC East after that who knows.

Agree, I'd just like to be moving on up. It's time to get over the hump....

I agree. I think if Dallas can get 8-8 with one of the wrost defense this franchise has seen then it has a chance to win the division should the defense play decent but heck we had games last year where the opposing punters was able to take a 3 hour nap because we could never stop them. I'm only guessing but I think Dallas may have set a record for the fewest punt return attempts. lol

you would think that Dooms but the problem is that it just does not work that way

2013 we ranked #32 on defense, record? 8-8

2012 we ranked #19 on defense, record? 8-8

2011 we ranked #14 on defense, record? 8-8

so, the defense "doing a little better" or even average did not help

saying "if only our defense plays a little better we will do great next year" is just fools gold

there will be something else that comes up

mediocre teams find reasons to be mediocre, if the defense does a little better, we will find another reason

I said it was possible. Even the Raiders or the Browns could conceivably do it. It's just very unlikely. I'm not going to rush out to Vegas and bet a pile of money on us winning it all.

I wouldn't bet on it either.
If I did bet on it, I would hedge my bet with Denver or Seattle to get back to it.

If I were placing bets, I would bet on the 49ers winning it all, not that that gives me any pleasure. In fact, it triggers a gag reflex.

i would share your optimism if it weren't for the severe lack of talent on the defensive side.. there's just no way to win in today's NFL without AT LEAST an above average defense.

This is your post: Yeah, because everyone who thinks this team has no chance is just dumb. .. nobody in the world outside of a handful of fans on this board Legitimately thinks this team team can win the sb this year .. . Why should they?

That is indirectly calling people dumb. You may say you think a post is dumb although I frown on that as well. /mod hat off

When you make broad sweeping statements esp those using nobody, everyone, yada then you are setting yourself up. First of all you don't know how everyone feels or thinks. And the use of those terms is generally incorrect anyway. I'm with you if you mean we are considered very long odds to win it all or even long odds to make the playoffs. We have too many holes. But we don't have to come as far as some think. We need to get into the vicinity of <=20PPG on defense. 17 would be great. 13 or less is dominating. I think 15-17 is dominating nowadays. We need to give up 5PPG less which is not going to be easy but not out of the question.

That's sarcasm used against his own position... Unless you think he was indirectly calling himself dumb?
