Well yeah, that's the difference alright and it's not an insignificant one. My argument is that this is a dumb move if it is being considered at all. However, if you want to discuss the reasons why, my "argument" was not only the difference in terminology and actual playbook knowledge but also things like understanding and playing with the guys beside you, things like how a QB calls a cadence, all kinds of different things but certainly not least of all, the fact the he has been out of football for an entire year and has had zero time to get in shape. This whole "your argument was about the mental" is some crap you made up. My concerns were never only about the mental aspects and that's pretty clear if you just read back on my original post.

Yet, despite this, our staff is playing him on the first unit in practice. They must be stupid. If only you could run things.

I think he's seeing snaps but hey, I know, when you feel threatened, you fall back on this type of thing. Of course you are right, after all, you are a brain surgeon right?

Give it a rest. We'll all know soon enough if he starts or not but really, that's not the point. The point is that I do not think it would be a great idea for us to start him. I think it would be a great idea for us to bring him along and make sure he's ready. Of course, I know that you feel differently.

Doctor yes. Brain Surgeon no.

I understand your point is that you don't think it is a great idea. I just think your reasoning and "logic" are flawed.

Brian Waters off his couch is better than anything we're going to trot out there.

This is probably to prepare him for an emergency situation, and to start getting him prepared for next week, when he will be playing with the first team.

Of course you do. I view this as an investment for the future and would choose to protect the investment in order to insure the best possible outcome. Flawed Logic, I know.

Ready to play vs ready to start.

Just something to keep in mind...at least for this game.

good point. best way to get him in game shape is playing. maybe have him as the backup and let him come in and get some reps at some point but not have to depend on him for the whole game

No one knows how good he will be until he plays. He is older and was out of the league for a year.

Waters will be fine early, and potentially dominant later in the year.

I thought from the moment we signed him that he'll start this week if he shows that he's in good enough condition to do it, and probably be relieved for a few series by Bernadeau.

Writers were the ones who said he wouldn't start. The Cowboys have essentially dodged that question, which to me is an indication that he will if deemed ready.

i don't know if he will start but i could sure see some value to getting him there for some reps. best way to get in football shape is playing football. best way to gel with the other guys on the line is playing next to them. seems logical that if he is ready then atleast have him as the reserve guard and let him get some reps during the game. heck i'm hoping for 49-0 by halftime and orton getting some reps too.:)

To give 1st team reps during game week to a guy that they plan to use a week from now doesn't make sense. Let's face it, Mack isn't that good to have his gameplan reps on Wed-Fri split. He needs them all and the fact that they are giving Waters reps speaks volumes in Jerry's world. Do you have confidence in Macks prep vs the Giants if he has split reps and that it will translates to a high level performance for an entire game? I DON'T!!! If they are giving Waters reps, they are planning to play him alot, if not start Waters outright.

I'd have him active over Arkin as our swing G.
For sure.
This guy can make this a completely good line.

He should get some snaps..maybe 20-30 or so.

I can't wait to see if he has an effect.

I think for the younger guys on the line..what a great opportunity to see how the best play the game.

Awesome.

Just based on what I've heard, I think Waters is ready to play, but he doesn't seem to be in good enough football shape to play the whole game. So, I'm guessing Bernadeau starts, and Waters plays in and around the red zone, deep in our own territory, or other critical times in the game as needed.

How did the team split the reps between Free and Parnell during practice at the end of the season in 2012

I just hope that the decision is based on readiness, not the need of the team...I would be really pissed if he got injured because he isn't ready...I would be MORE upset if he isn't ready and he causes and injury to someone else

I can see him have a few false starts if he does play Sunday night...he can't be accustomed to Tony's cadence just yet...
