Before the season started I was discussing with my friends that are also Cowboys fans how much I liked the moves the organization had made this offseason. I ended it with the caveat of (paraphrasing) 'even if we struggle this season for whatever reason, the moves that the organization have made have now allowed the Cowboys to come back strong for 2016 and beyond.'

The organization basically got Hardy and McFadden for a pay for play rate. I don't think Murray was worth re-signing for what he got in Philly. I still think we made the right move in not re-signing Harris for what he got and re-signing Beasley instead. We took a hard stance with Ro. McClain, we pick up Collins despite having what was already called the best O-Line in the league. And we generally were stingy in terms of any re-signings of veterans and I really like our draft.

Injuries happen (although they happen way too much to us) and it's about developing talent and not getting saddled with bad contracts to allow the team to not be so feast or famine every year. That's when we will start to compile back-to-back seasons in the playoffs and that's when we start giving ourselves a better chance at going to the Super Bowl.

I badly want Dallas to draft a first round QB to replace Romo in the next 2 years. So losing would help create that. But, tanking sends a bad message throughout the organization. You tank now and what message does the bring if you start off the season 2-4 and you're down by 14 points in the second quarter?

This is where I completely agree with Garrett...we can't just chase wins. We have to have a process in place and stick to that process until we become superb at time after time. Then the wins will come. It's not something crazy that Garrett came up with...he learned it directly from Nick Saban. The tricky part is when to figure out if the process will ever work or not. I tend to think it will given last year's performance with a very flawed team. So, I'd rather have us continue to stick to the process, try to win so we can at least evaluate talent for next season and continue to draft and make the offseason moves like we have made for the past 2 years.

I don't know.

But I strongly feel that Murray's payday aside..

what has been horribly mis-judged was the level of play for both sides of the ball the coaches completely under estimated by Murray not playing.

Other than the money..Murray was the guts of the offense and was the crutch of the defense.

He was the identity of the offense..tough running and good pass receiver who made Romo a different player.

And thinking Randle was going to replace him was ludicrous.

This team has no clue.

So next year we rely on an injury-prone 37 year old QB and a defense that under-achieves.

Wow.

look at Garretts record. aaaaannnnnnnnndddd Done. Let me also add, there are games this team didnt look prepared, there were games we didnt have a chance in. To this very day Garrett STILL refuses to stick with anything that works. He has a great coaching staff and things still dont work and his one good season came when the division sucked. He still wont fight for this team and he still doesnt exploit a teams weakness and he always plays down to his competition.

A few players he keeps on this team that has no business being on this team. He also still has bad use of time outs and he still doesnt take our divsiion games serious because he will either use a rookie when we dont have to or he ll trust a bad player to cover a good player. I
There is more excuses for this coach than any in our history.

Okay all of this is fine but how does this prove that he Cowboys didn't overachieve those 8-8 years? Garrett inherited a MESS. He didn't inherit Bill Parcells team.
